This caption (you’re right about Dorothy) … “Sherwood Bailey, Matthew ‘Stymie’ Beard, Dorothy DeBorba, Bobby ‘Wheezer’ Hutchins, Kendall McComas, George ‘Spanky’ McFarland, and Pete the Dog in The Little Rascals (1955)”
…comes from… …HERE.
Where the 1955 comes from I do not know. They’d have to be 24 years older than when they made “Love Business” in 1931.
I thought that toddler was probably Spanky, but it’s not a good picture of him… nor of Wheezer. I usually recognize them both.
The other two names are unfamiliar.
…
Note that it says “The Little Rascals” … the title used for running the old “Our Gang” shorts as a TV series.
1955 would have been at the height of their popularity … and for this sort of promotional material… which never mentioned that the actual films were 20 or 30 years old.
After awhile, Claude and Clara decided Kibble wasn’t quite as bad tasting as they had expected. Well, when it’s the only thing you have…in fact, Cleo was beginning to look a lot more edible as time went on. Nighthawks had better get them off that island before bad things happen – – maybe a button on the tree that says Don’t Push???
1.) I went online to find Bisquick. At $4.19 for a 1 kg. box I won’t be buying it.
Too, the U.S. Betty Crocker site has many complaints about a change in the recipe; since they’re complaints you know the change wasn’t considered for the better.
2.) Yesterday I had my very first McDonald’s “Li’L Donut.” I won two of them as instant prizes in the just ended Monopoly contest. I won a medium fries too.
It wasn’t a doughnut, it was closer to an éclair. There was no hole. Here is the description from McDonald’s site. This soft donut is filled with Bavarian cream, topped with a satisfying blanket of chocolate icing and chocolate drizzle. It pairs perfectly with your favourite McCafé beverage.
It did taste good though, and McDonald’s is back to $1.05 tax-in medium coffees for a while (normally $1.85 tax-in) so that’s good too.
3.) I’ve just finished reading “November Man” by the late Bill Granger. I had read it before, I’m guessing when the movie came out, because I recognized scenes, and plot points. There are actually 13 books in the series of which “There are No Spies” (aka “November Man”) is number seven. I’m going to watch the movie just to see how the intricacies were handled. “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is ready for me at the library; it’s only a mile or so away, so I may walk there at opening.
Then I went looking:
In a welcome-to-your-native-tongue moment I discovered that one does not get one’s “just desserts (as I had always thought),” but rather one gets ones “just deserts.”
Both words come to English from the French, but desert comes from an Old French word meaning “to serve well,” and dessert comes from desservir meaning “clear the table.”
I also see that today is National Clean your Refrigerator Day……in preparation for
the holidays, they say…..they also recommend that a ‘fridge is cleaned ONCE A WEEK!
……without going into detail, I think I’m kinda overdue…..
today would be as good a time as any…. although I’ve got a self cleaning oven—the self-cleaning fridge is beyond my means
My self-cleaning oven always fries its electronic brains. Not worth the $300+. Stopped using the function (and cleaning it) 15-20 years ago. Broil often enough that most of the crud cooks off when I do.
Adorable!!!
Nice to see such a distinguished welcoming committee.
So, which one is Nighthawks?
The one on the far right.
hahahahahaaaaa
took the words right out of my mouth.
my tongue never felt a thing
That’s Petey
I thought I knew quite a few of Our Gang on sight…
but the only ones I’m pretty sure of here are Stymie and Petey…and I think the little girl is Dorothy.
There were just so many of them, over so many years… and some of them changed as they got older.

Here is

You’ll have to click the sound icon on the video (20 minutes)
thanks for posting that stuff…..I just run across these photos and
post them….you do all the heavy lifting and research to provide us
with details

“Posing” by Barbora Polivkova, Rainforest, Costa Rica. Commended.

Well, there went tomorrow’s comic surprise.
Wednesday…..tomorrow is Stel-day
Simultaneously, Claude and Clara are starting to look more edible to Cleo.
people can be surprisingly adaptive over time
Just general yammerings.

I’ll bet McDonalds spends a fortune getting all that cream shipped from Bavaria to all
those Golden Arches
Relax, vegetarians: that donut-filling is really just English cream (which doesn’t contain gelatin). No Bavarians in there.
I don’t know about you, but if I’m stranded on a deserted island, I’d really enjoy eating kibble.
This took me a moment. 🥴

…or you could just go with “desert – no more than one; thank you” and “dessert – two are welcome” regarding the “s”.
I’m not sure about “really enjoy”….
but certainly tolerate.
Cher, you gotta go! Now!
I do have a soft spot for the old Sonny and Cher songs.
Expressionless females in black with red lips and dark eyes, where have I seen this before? Andy Warhol?
Vogue?
When Sonny and Cher first started out… a couple of years before this song…
they called themselves Caesar and Cleo.
Of course, our Cleo wouldn’t have allowed that to continue.
Susan, you have made my day. —
They hadn’t quite found their stride yet (but you can hear it’s there).
Personally, I like the fact that there’s a chaise lounge, and that sunglasses-wearing Cleo is occupying it.
I would have expected nothing less from her.
lemon bundt cake
one of these would be worth a bit more now
We had one of these. It was butterscotch colored and we got a little road runner toy with it. I don’t think we got $50 off, though.
It’s a little bland, but not bad.
MONDAY! Whoohoo...I love retirement.
Unless the numbers aren’t 1 or 2
I’ll take this one.
Y’all have a great week! (((((HuGz!)))))

Rent a Teen Boy cleans out refrigerators
Used to be our clean your refrig day was every Thursday. The meals were VERY interesting. That’s when I started putting things in the freezer instead.
(now, when did you say National Clean your Freezer Day is?)

BING picture of the day
Manatee In Florida
Sometimes I see me as an old manatee
Heading south as the waters grow colder
He tries to steer clear of the hum drum so near
It cuts prop scars deep in his shoulders
That’s how it flows right to the end
His body’s still flexible but that
Barnacle brain don’t bend
Growing Older But Not Up, Buffett, J.
Beautiful, Happy
