In today’s terms, photo-shopped.

A “concept” photo, doctored to show the way airships would dock, attached to the central column at the top, which had been raised, as I recall, about 200 feet to accommodate them…

only coincidentally, of course, making the Empire State Building 50 feet taller than the new Chrysler Building, and therefore the tallest building in the world.

I should Google those numbers but I’m sleepy. It’s close, anyway, I think.

That “honor” had not been on the designer’s minds whatsoever, you know, when they planned the addition…. (cough) …

which is why they had absolutely zero idea of how the passengers were supposed to deplane, except for walking down an open portable gangway….

It would drop from the ship to a 2 or 3 foot wide outdoor gallery encircling the top level, which was about 25 feet in diameter.

The parapet enclosing and protecting them as they walked around to the building door was about 3 feet tall.

All this while everything swayed in gale force winds.

if you look closely, you can see the gallery and parapet as a tiny dark ring near the top.

The system was never used… but … say… what a coincidence… the Empire State Building stayed the tallest in the world for years.

Unintentionally. Uh huh.

BTW… don’t laugh, but it took me years to realise why it was called the “Empire State Building”…

But I’m not as embarrassed as I could be, because I’ve read that it’s still a very common Google search.

Just in case you’d be searching it too…

pssst… New York itself is called…. de dum dum….

“The Empire State.”

My parents always referred to it as the “Entire State Building.”

The dog on the sidewalk is probably named Annie (if you can find another dog — I only see one — one is Annie, now in doggie heaven, and the other Freddie / I haven’t yet figured out who is who).

The artist’s name appears as the owner of the art gallery.

Don’t you mean the diner?

I’m not sure where you found the info about the dogs… but I can only find one, as well.

No, the art gallery windows (one shown in the attachment below) show the artist’s name (Phil Lockwood).
Since you have only found one dog as well, I’m going to say that it is approaching certainty that her name is Annie (Freddie is then a little brownish/gold mutt).

Thanks!

I didn’t think it was really a Hopper, but an homage to his work…

Nighthawks labelled it “Hopper’s American Diner”…. which is probably the title…. but once again, it was very late, and I was uncertain.

In the clearer light of day, I can see that it’s obviously a pastiche, a tribute to many of Hopper’s works.

From yesterday.

I was sorry I found that because it isn’t the videos, nor is it the original rendition of the original songs. They’re the original songs alright, but poorly covered.

Thanks for clarifying. I’m sure you already know that I’m not concerned with the DVD collection, movies, songs or any content of whatever I choose to do a parody of. As with the movie posters, frequently I have not even seen the movie. So, I just want to make it clear that I am, in no way, recommending the content as something that is worth your time researching. I’m just having fun in this ‘Basset World’ of Cleo & Company.

If you’re disappointed with that DVD collection of Christmas songs and videos, I certainly hope that you can still enjoy my humble attempt at parodying it, which you did not comment on (so I can’t assume whether you did or did not like it).

Again, please don’t think that I’m recommending it (unless I comment that something is my absolute favorite in the whole world — LOL) as something that I think you’d like.

Thanks for that method. It worked. I’ll try it again if I’m faced with the same problem in future.   🎄

I have a sentimental attachment to that Bill Withers song, it having been posted to me at different times in a different place.

For some strange reason.

Well, since you brought it up…
Here is a 6 minute and 12 second comedy routine by Bob Newhart.
If you’ve never heard it, you’re in for a treat, and if you have, you know you’re in for a treat.
I really do hope it starts your day with a laugh.
Incidentally…..nah, I won’t spoil it.   —comment image
