” In the Hindu epic Ramayana, Jatayu (Sanskrit: जटायुः, IAST: Jaṭāyuḥ) is a demi-god who has the form of a vulture or eagle. Narrative in the Ramayana Ravana kills Jatayu. Araṇya-Kāṇḍa of Ramayana mentions that Jatayu is the “King of Vultures”(gṛdhrarāja).[1] According to the epic, the demon Ravana was abducting the goddess Sita to Lanka when Jatayu tried to rescue her. Jatayu fought valiantly with Ravana, but as Jatayu was very old Ravana soon defeated him, clipping his wings, and Jayatu falls down to earth. Rama and Lakshmana while on the search for Sita, chanced upon the stricken and dying Jatayu, who informed them of the battle with Ravana and told them that Ravana had headed South. Jatayu then died of his wounds and Rama performed his final funeral rites.”

I clicked on it anyway, and went.

Well worth it.

internationally acclaimed Movie Director Rajiv Anchal. It was his vision to carve
out a masterpiece causing no harm to the ecology that led to the birth of the
Jatayu Earth’s Center. 10 years of painstaking effort and it has all paid off well.
Under his leadership and watchful gaze, the Center is soaring every single day,

I know you’re not a fan of my recipes, but with one simple substitution, you’ll have tomato soup.
Not being a fan of tomato soup, I’ve never made this, but as canned or fresh tomatoes can be used, the taste can be varied as you like.

SPICY TOMATO BOUILLON
1 can (1 pound 3 ounces) tomatoes or
2 cups chopped ripe tomatoes
1 can (10 1/2 ounces) condensed beef broth*
1 onion sliced
1/4 teaspoon each celery seed and whole black peppercorns
3 whole cloves
Salt
Chopped parsley
Heat all ingredients, except salt and
parsley. Simmer about 10 minutes.
Season to taste with salt and serve
topped with parsley. Serves 4.
Notes from me:
*Thin the soup by substituting in to your taste any of (or any combination of) —
whole milk (3.25% milk fat) – 1/2 & 1/2 cream (10% milk fat) – whipping cream (35% milk fat)
—for the beef broth.
Since you’re only simmering the time will remain the same.
A quick search tells me Target, has a “no sugar added” 28 oz. can of house brand whole peeled tomatoes.
Allowing that Superman’s hands are the size of Shaq O’Neal’s, 123 square inches each, and accepting his power of flight is such that he can stand still against the oncoming train.
I’ll be conservative and say the weight of any given car was 60 tons (any full length shot of the “20th Century Limited” from that era shows 8 cars at least).
Total weight of locomotive and tender, “20th Century Limited” 681,900 lb (the train’s set is obviously patterned after the “20th Century Limited”).
So a total train weight of 697,900 lbs.
The vector forces are not straight line so I’ll say they’re the equivalent of a straight on 40 miles per hour rather than the between 80 to 100 miles per hour the train was actually doing.
So we have a total of 697,900 pounds of train bearing down at 40 miles per hour on 123 square inches of immovable hand.
If all Superman was doing was holding it up (perfectly balanced) the train’s load would be 5,673.9837…. pounds per square inch). I’ve long since forgotten the physics required to do the mass-speed-energy calculations, but can you say “Superman-hand-sized-hole-in the-train-at-first-then-who- knows?”?
I always enjoy your parodies.
If I go looking, it’s because my brain says “Why not?” What I find is either an increase in fun or not; there is never any decrease; your work stands on its own. And as I said above, I always enjoy it.
Thanks for that, Alexi ! I appreciate it! It makes me happy to know that you are enjoying my posters! I wasn’t quite sure that was the case, so now I know!!!
Since it’s the season, here’s something I penned a few years ago.
Since it’s the season..
A VISIT TO THE MALL
(With apologies to Clement Moore)
‘Twas two weeks before Christmas and all ’round the mall,
Six million cars were parked wall to wall.
For what seemed like hours I drove round and round
Until at last a parking space I found.
I sat and I waited with blinker light blinking,
While all around me bright lights were winking.
Then, out of nowhere there came an encroacher,
The horrible, infamous parking space poacher!
He swung right around me as if I weren’t there
And pulled into the space with nary a care.
He stepped out of his car with a wave and a grin
Leaving me to continue a quest without end.
I finally made it to the hustle and bustle,
But the stores were so crowded I couldn’t move a muscle.
I paused for a moment to pull out my list
It was all written down so none would be missed.
To toy store, to bookstore and sporting goods, too.
Buy cookies and candies and clothing so new.
See reindeer and elves and good old Saint Nick,
See parents and children, they all run so quick!
The charges are mounting, like drifts in the snow,
My list seems quite endless. Where does it all go?
Now the presents are bought, but the battle’s not won,
The search for a perfect tree has begun.
That tree is too short, this one’s too tall,
Another has no middle branches at all.
When the tree’s been selected and I lug it on home,
I realize it’s shaped like a humpbacked old gnome.
When the lights are all lit and the popcorn is strung
And all the ornaments and stockings are hung,
I sit in the glow of the twinkling light
Thinking back on a long ago, far away night.
I think of the child who was born long ago
And I’m thankful for cards and lights and snow.
Then, I realize Santa probably was right
So, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night.”

India’s Jatayu Nature Park
World’s largest bird sculpture
This looks great. Hard to get to, maybe?
The sculpture is in the Indian district of Kollan where legend says Jatayu fell to earth after his battle with Ravana (see attachment).

thanks for posting that Alex!
I think I know which I would choose. Thanks for the background research.
I am well acquainted with Big Bird, but this is ridiculous.
Here it is seen in Google Earth.
ring noodles
It would be a lot better if they cut the sugar in half. Things are as sweet as catsup.
Tomato soup, too.
It was comfort food, the stuff of childhood memories…
but I quit buying it some years ago, when I realised it was nothing but liquid tomato candy.

sounds really good!
yeah, especially Tomato Bisque…….the bisque part means load in more sugar.
you could always cut each noodle in half
If i had that much money i’d use it to pay off the mortgage.

But … but … but … cartoon physics!
Our sweet little Cleo… always so polite, so undemanding… so gosh darn appreciative.
Oh, wait… that was some other dog.
…
Well, my Puzzle People…. tonight she gets another chance to redeem herself, in a rare do-over.
How many times most of us wish we would get a second chance, perhaps to reflect on our behavior, and do something differently.
But I don’t really see Cleo’s behavior changing, or her gratitude increasing in panel two.
Do you?
….
Meanwhile, there are nine things that did change between these panels…
Have you found them?
Try hard…. and when you’ve given it your best….
…
…
to see the ones I’ve found, and compare.
I have to get up early tomorrow, so I am not going to obsess, But really, Cleo, what makes you so privileged?
because she’s Cleo
Oh good, I missed a subtle one. I hate when I miss the obvious ones.
I could only find seven. I guess it’s time to see which ones I obviously missed.
DANG!
Back to eight here! 😖
So far i’m at eight. I’ll give it one more try tonight after work before i look at the solution.
I’m _sooo_ close!
As usual I got 8 and missed a really obvious one.
Same here.
Someone (Claude? Clara?) needs to teach Miss Cleo the Magic Word.
“Stat!”, “Pronto!” or “Now!”?

Wow… must be breakfast, second breakfast?
What about elevenses? Luncheon? Afternoon tea? Dinner? Supper?
GOOD MORNING PUZZLERS!
.
Uh oh! Spaghettios!
Y’all have a great day of it. (((((HuGz!)))))
8 today. 7 quick, the last I found was pretty obvious.
I thought I found all 9. But, when I looked at Susan’s solution, it was really only 8. Oh well. There’s always next week.
Loved hearing Sheb Wooley again. I still see him as Pete in Rawhide……Pete sings(?)
The attachment shows the closing credits from Friday, October 23, 1964.
We all, of course, know Frankie Laine’s version.
But here is….
…Sheb Wooley singing “Rawhide”
Thanks. I always love this theme!
