I never knew, nor would I ever have suspected, that Kellogg’s put the Gorn on a box of corn flakes.

I enjoyed that blast from the past, when SNL was really funny!

In that case, you’ll enjoy the latest episode – Paul Rudd’s fifth time as host.

There definitely were Star Trek cereal tie-ins… like character masks to cut out on the backs of some boxes.

But this box says “Gorn Flakes”, not “Corn Flakes”, leading me to think it’s a parody… but usually an artist would change the name of the company, and other box details.

I just Googled it, trying to find out whether it’s a real cereal box, and if not, who did it…

I found several other images of “Gorn Flakes” in different styles, so I guess it’s a fairly popular meme… but there were no links to any details.

Parody:

At 04:52 hrs. E.S.T. I found an original box picture that would post directly.
It also has the back of the box.

Is it just me, or was the artist channeling Audrey Hepburn when he drew this advertisement (“Roman Holiday” was released September 2, 1953)?
How come is it that even situation comedy writers won’t dare to touch this kind of gift giving as a gag, and yet advertising writers continuously did, and still do to this day.
Take a closer look at some of the print and billboard ads you see if you don’t believe me.

That material design actually does look nice. It probably never existed outside of the drawing, though.

Yes, every little slavey wants a special gift to help her do her housework even better…. “her” housework because, as you say, its her home (though you do insist that it be kept clean.)

It couldn’t come from the household budget, because you only give her enough money to pay the utility bills and buy food to cook for you.

I don’t think even my clueless dad, who said things like “Honey, could you make me a sandwich?”, would have bought my mother a vacuum cleaner for Christmas.

In fairness, he handed her his paycheck, and she handled the money, so they would have shopped together for a vacuum cleaner. It would still be her vacuum cleaner, though.

But I’ve known several women, all older than me, who were on budgets set by their husbands, who gave them a household allowance… including one I was visiting when her husband gave her the $50 that she asked for to buy him a birthday present. AFAIK, she didn’t question that arrangement.

For a Christmas you’ll never forget: You’ll get the Hoover, and your soon-to-be ex-wife gets everything of value else.

As I said to Dennis, this is well worth watching.
The shots in the clean room alone are amazing.
The narrator clearly loves what he does, and it shows.
Officially, Kelvins are Kelvins not degrees Kelvin since the 1967- 1968 “Conférence Générale des Poids et Mesures” (“General Conference on Weights and Measures” in English / established in Paris in 1875).

The originally planned “A” side of the 45 (and apparently pressed as such / I can’t find a visual other than internet catalogue listings) by the original group.
“Surfer Joe” written by Ron Wilson ( coincidental name, not the Beach Boys collaborator for: “We’re Together Again” and “I’ll Keep On Loving You”)
“Wipeout” sometimes credited to all band members: (Ron Wilson, Bob Berryhill, Jim Fuller, Pat Connolly) sometimes only to Ron Wilson and Bob Berryhill.

Who didn’t like the tour of Pie Town, New Mexico yesterday? If it wasn’t a mistaken click — as a female friend of mine might say, “You’re WEIRD !”.    😁

I will no longer post anything with “freshly killed” anything anymore.
And I’m sorry I touched a such an obviously sensitive spot.

Alexi,
I finally had the chance to view your video of the lecture by Richard Tuschman. I still feel very ambivalent about his work. It seems to be constructed for an external audience to a greater extent than most artists. Maybe Photoshop will change the art world.

And there are no real details on how he creates them either.
As I said, those two photographs were the only two I could find.
I’m glad you liked it enough to watch it, thanks for letting me know.
Incidentally, I saw your comment immediately after watching Happy3’s Webb Telescope posting; well worth the time.

Having seen a few of Cleo’s other “musical” performances, I can’t help but think this one might be better without her violin…..

as long as she doesn’t feel frustrated enough to start “playing” that instrument of destruction.

The audience is applauding and expectant…

Apologise, take a bow, and exit stage right.

Leave them wanting more this time, instead of wanting to run away.

Happy to see a young, still-healthy Karen Carpenter…
but sad, too.

Interesting that the YouTube account that uploaded the video, in 2917, was that of her brother, Richard… the other Carpenter.

You may well be interested in this.
It is CBC radio’s Tom Power interviewing Richard Carpenter on November 24th of this year.
There is some very good detailed background information throughout the interview.
Richard Chamberlain first sang “Close to You,” for instance.
The “video” is actually a small series of still shots, but “Q” is a radio show.
I know the interview is there in full (23 minutes 35 seconds), because I listened to it on its air date.

Good morning. I have a rare full day off. You have no idea how much i need it. <P>Have you noticed stories on the news about overworked healthcare workers? It goes all the way to the bottom where i’m at.
Someone is coming to pick me up for lunch this afternoon. That is the extent of my plans. Except for sleep.
I did wash a load of laundry, when i turn the dryer on in a few minutes it’s going to put me back to sleep.
I do get Sunday evenings off, but that’s not the same as having the morning off. I just end up going to bed earlier in the evening. Nice, but not as nice as having a lazy morning. Some smooth jazz, or light classical, or something like that. My cup of mud. And the choice to do or, do not.
I’m toast. Those poor nurses and med techs in the ICUs must be…
I don’t know. I just don’t have a word for it. As bad as i feel, i feel sooo sorry for them and their families.
Still, I’m still toast.
Good night again people and pets.
