Nah. I like the term ‘battleaxe’ and I remember that it used to be a common insulting
name for a ….uh…. a somewhat disagreeable female. but in this case I was thinking of
the 1958 movie “The Vikings”. Specifically the scene I posted above.
never works for me, all I ever get is the following?
Hi,
You just subscribed for new comments on our website. This means you will receive an email when new comments are posted according to subscription option you’ve chosen.
To activate, click confirm below. If you believe this is an error, ignore this message and we’ll never bother you again.
The attachment below is, I’m sure, what you’re referring to (click on it to make it legible ).
I hope it helps. Put it to the test. Let us know, and ask someone to respond. It should work, but this is WordPress.
As a side note, when I set up a response request I found it more annoying to check my email than just to check the comment. You have to set up notice requests for each comment you’re interested in, too.
I do click on the confirm, but I like I said, I have never received any notification, maybe no one ever answers me! LOL Of course this may be how you responded to me as I did get your answer thru my email, if so, you are the first one!
also, thanks for the assistance
“up the in age…” He was 74, dammit.
Now I am waaay younger than that, but some of the other Friends of Cleo Comics (FOCCERS) may not be 74 but they can see it on the horizon.
The handles are all there, Alexi, as Tigressy’s excerpt points out. Granted, they are whizzing by at breakneck speed, but they ARE there! My guess is the fifth might have found its way into the pot roast resting on the table in the kitchen (which was probably Cleo’s plan all along!) !

I thought Odin’s test was going to be something along the lines of “two ships sail from Copenhagen at the same time, traveling in different directions …”
Okay. I like this one. 😀
Quite the crowd you have there!
.
Not how it works. It goes both ways.
But this is a comic strip…. so maybe it’s how the cord to Claude’s lamp works.
After all, his lamp and the wall aren’t taking turns lighting up.
.
Poor kitty. 🙁
Awwww… lost in the woods!
Confound it Cleo. Every one knows ‘battle axes’ refers to oollldd wives!!
Maybe that’s an oollldd wives tale.
I appears that tomahawk throwing lanes are sprouting up all over the country. Ours is called Tommy Hawks, and has cornhole, horseshoes and beer.
I have to get my mouse hawk polished up.
Because what goes better with tomahawk throwing than beer?
What a country as Yakov Smirnoff would say
Axe away?
I think that’s what I’d tell Cleo with a slightly different meaning…\
as in, “Confound it Cleo, put that &#@%! axe away!”
…
But don’t axe me about Claude and Clara’s dog training methods…
I don’t want to do a hatchet job on our beloved comics characters..
We all know they can’t get a handle on it… partly cos Cleo is sharper than they are.
….
Uh oh…. I think I’d better split before Cleo reads this.
At least I was able to log in a little earlier tonight.
Were you thinking of someone specific while drawing this, Nighthawks?

I was referring to the sound effects…
Yes; that movie came to my mind, too.
ohhh!—that one, apparently, whooshed over my head
I keep meaning to post this and forgetting…
A few days ago, I was reading comments on a page I had mostly missed because of my internet problems.
Someone, sorry, I can’t remember who, asked how to be notified of replies to his comments.
…
I don’t know whether that question is still outstanding, but if so…
It’s easy.
…
Before submitting your comment, just click the faded grey “slashed” bell icon below the comment box…
It’s just to the left of the green button you always click, that says “Post Comment”.
If you mouse over it, it says “Notify of new replies to this comment”.
They’ll all be emailed to you, with links.

granola bars
seedy bar
My kinda place!
This is a real place in New Orleans. The picture of Jake, who is one of the two names listed in the bar’s name, is a picture link to its home page.
ah. the wildly popular comic strip ‘Fred Basset’, by sheer coincidence has a dartboard today, too
R.I.P.
WOAH! This comes as a shocker in a way, but he was up there in age… He will be missed. Always loved his performance in RHPS and his “operetta” videos.
“up the in age…” He was 74, dammit.
Now I am waaay younger than that, but some of the other Friends of Cleo Comics (FOCCERS) may not be 74 but they can see it on the horizon.
And some in their rear view mirrors.
In any case, 74 is way too young.
Hell, so is 84.
Horizon hell… I can hear footsteps.
Waiting for the end of time, so I can END MY TIME WITH YOU.
I guess you are free at last.
I was so sad when I read that news.
I’ve always loved this song, and Meatloaf’s voice.
RIP, indeed.
Louie Anderson, as well
Maybe she was trying to get his attention so she could axe him a question.
Good morning Cleo animation phans!
One of my favorite days…
It’s National Hugging Day! Git some! (((((HuGz!)))))
The only way I’ll appreciate tree rats (squirrels) is if they leave my garden alone!
I think I’d find someplace else to sit if I were you, Claude. With Cleo, you never know what can happen…… just say’n.
There are five WHOOSH !-THOK !s
But there are only four axes in the final frame; one really went astray.
Also, what happened to their handles in mid-flight?
.
For all to see:
The handles are all there, Alexi, as Tigressy’s excerpt points out. Granted, they are whizzing by at breakneck speed, but they ARE there! My guess is the fifth might have found its way into the pot roast resting on the table in the kitchen (which was probably Cleo’s plan all along!) !

LOL !!!
I just heard that stand-up comic Louie Anderson passed away. What a great talent!
Betty White
Sidney Poitier
Bob Saget
Meatloaf
Louie Anderson
Peter Bogdanovich
(did I miss anybody?)
…..and, we’re not even in February yet.
Meatloaf.
And I’m not referring to last Tuesday’s dinner.
He’s on the list.
Oops…. I just mentioned Louie Anderson, before I saw your comment…… He was only 68.
