I can’t tell….but I’d say the one looking right at us is male, and he’s ready to attack!

They are, apparently, Australian little Woodswallows.
I’m providing no link because, while there are no contradictory names listed, the sources I visited didn’t inspire confidence about their accuracy levels.

Woodswallows? Makes sense. It would explain their facial expression.

Aaaand it’s back!

Yet another animation… WOW … on the trail of
“The Maltese Basset!”

Nighthawks, have you been attending Internet Marketing School?

Get ’em clicking, leave ’em wanting more… give very little away, in between.

Almost but not quite clickbait, cos it does advance the plot, a wee smidgen.

It leaves even more questions dangling…

and teases that the whole resolution will arrive in one, final installment.

Wow… that’s gotta be a killer episode.
Hopefully, no pun intended…

Or if that meaning is intended, let’s hope all villains are quickly dispatched…

all mysteries solved, all characters either redeemed or put well away,

….

But before I start guessing any unintentional spoilers….

What has Sam done, to be so summarily dismissed?

One moment, he thinks…. this deceptive dame…. sigh… she of the purplie-lidded peepers, and come-hither lips… wait a minute… LIPS?

The long lashes, and silky ears… OK, that’s enough letting SAM think…

 ….

One minute she hired him… and the next minute, she may have tried to kill him.

And now… she greets him at gunpoint… without ever giving him a chance to help her!

What did she want from him, that she’s decided he will fail … or refuse… to provide?

Or was she just using him, pretending to need his services, to get him on her side, or scare her competition?

For the bling-y Basset?
Where IS that cursed statuette, anyway?
Does Miss Behave know?

Did she hire Sam to find it, purely as a ruse?

To what avail?
What’s an avail, anyway?

I’m also wondering why she wants to see him in a pink slip!
Oh my!
I didn’t think he swung that way.

….

All this and more will be answered in ONE final episode?
When??

These adventures often wrap up with an animation on a Friday.
But today IS a Friday…. with an animation…
and still NOT the end.

We can’t wait a whole ’nother WEEK to find out what happens..

Especially if there’s really only one episode left!

….

Will it be an animation as well?

Would that make “The Maltese Basset” the most animated C&C series yet?

I cannot say if it’s the “most animated C&C series,” but that WAS the most animated comment ever at C&C. You really covered some territory.

Most animated? Moi?

Oh, thank you.

I’m so happy to hear… sniffle… that maybe I made a comment that was moving….

The conclusion already?? That was a pretty good move Sam made to get the gun!
Sorry, but I’m going for snacks…..and you can’t stop me! Looking forward to the next episode!

Yeah… they say no time for snacks….

But there won’t be another episode tonight

And what if we don’t get the final one till next Friday??

I’m not going on a “Maltese Basset” starvation diet!

REVIEW OF A BOOK SERIES WITH THE LATEST I’VE READ

“Mermaid Confidential”
Tim Dorsey (2022)
ISBN 978-0-06-296753-4

Book 25 in the Serge A. Storms light-hearted-dark-humour series.
This is another fun read about Tim Dorsey’s protagonist, Serge A. Storms, and his stoner sidekick, Coleman, as Serge’s sense of justice is brought to bear on the Florida Keys.
As always, Dorsey has done his research, and some of the lesser known history of the Keys is explained to Coleman through Serge’s voice (this is true about any setting within the series).
If you saw “Pulp Fiction” and laughed through the “heroin-scene,” I’m pretty sure you’ll like this series.
In this one Serge takes on a medical scam, surprise billing (it’s real), a druggie tenant who can’t be kicked out because of Florida rental laws (again real), and helps out a hospice for kids run by the female protagonist (plot help).
As always there are tons of bodies; the creation of best ones Dorsey reserves for Serge.

I picked up the series at book 16, “The Riptide Ultra-Glide ( 2013),” and have read every one since then.
I tried to go backwards, but Dorsey evolves (for want of a better term) his characters, and going backwards through the series is the equivalent of someone who started reading “Garfield” two years ago going back to the very beginning this year. Garfield today isn’t the Garfield of yesterday.
So if you think you might like to try the series, get the earliest one you can get a hold of and read onward from there.
Tim Dorsey’s writing is consistently good and, as I said, light-heartedly dark. It can vary in style from book to book too.

First, I need to comment about the video ‘if it wasn’t filmed….’ How absolutely incredible it is!!!

Then, the saga of Sam Basset has me on the edge of my seat!!!!! What a delightful evening this is. And, we’re treated to purplie eyelidiness to boot. FUN!!!

SAME McDONALD’S, SAME CASHIER, YESTERDAY

I didn’t even have to place my order for my $1.40 tax in coffee; he recognized me from past visits, and poured it before coming to the till (there is nothing wrong with his service training) and cheerfully said “Hello.”
I handed him a $5.00 bill.
I will definitely give him distraction at this point. Someone called to him, sort of sharply in my opinion, from across the floor.
Instead of a toonie, a loonie, 2 quarters and a dime back I received 2 toonies (no loonie)…etc.
I accepted my change while picking up my coffee and put it in my pocket.
Then my brain went “Wait a minute…something doesn’t seem right here.”
I removed my change and saw what had happened.
I waited until I could get his attention, he had left the till to talk to whoever had called him, and waved him back.
Cut to the lack of training bit again. Until I told him that I would like my half of the extra toonie back, he seemingly had no idea that I was owed it.
Again, no anger, sneering, disparaging, or anything else that could be categorized as abuse of staff by a customer, me. Whether you choose to believe me or not is up to you.
Again, though, an obvious lack of till training on management’s head; and yes, it is management’s responsibility to train its staff or replace it with people it deems competent. As a side note, if you think training staff is expensive, try the expense of untrained staff.
On the flip side of that coin, if management observes that a staff member lied about a skill level (just to pick something where the lack would be obvious, carpentry) then yes, fire that staff member right now, and good riddance.

I’m confused Alex. You were owed $3.60 back and you got $4.60 back? So I don’t understand your reference to your wanting your “half of the extra toonie back”
Unless you were pulling his leg…

Yup… You bought coffee for $1.40 and “handed him a $5.00 bill.”

And “Instead of a toonie, a loonie, 2 quarters and a dime back I received 2 toonies (no loonie)…etc”….

Everybody makes mistakes.

Even you!

… Maybe in real life or maybe it was just a typo now.

I can’t tell whether your “etc” means you got the 2 quarters and a dime, or that part belongs inside the parentheses, as something you didn’t get.

So you either got $4 in change or $4.60. Or your “2 loonies” is a typing mistake.

(Btw I know about loonies and twoonies, but I have to stop and interpret the phrase “tax in coffee”, which we don’t know either. )

They’re putting the mail carriers on 25¢ stamps?!

Commemorating not only their hard work, but all the years they’ve toiled since we could mail a 1st class letter for a quarter.
