I guess my eyes focused first on the top right, and I actually thought it was some kind of crazily twisted Asian noodles.

I wondered whether they uncoil in the soup.

I was already trying to decipher the writing at the bottom of the bowl, when I realized it was dogs.

Either that bowl is huge or those pups are tiny.

Must be Shar Pei pups.

Those pumps are now in someones living room.
Those and the signs were collected a long time ago.

When I was going looking for more (it appears to be a lone picture), I did come across a copy saying it was on the western portion of highway 2, in North Dakota.
The moment I found a map, I realized I had driven that highway in 1989 on my way to Ontario. It was, I thought, a time saving route. It wasn’t. As I’ve said here before, when it comes to United States state routes a dog house on the side of the road counts as a town and you have to slow down.
My overnight in Minot was interesting, I fell into a conversation with a guy at the hotel bar who claimed to have driven to Minot non-stop from Miami in under a day. Uh huh. The rest of his conversation was just as believable.
On that same trip, I stopped in Flint, Michigan for gas. Given that the city is still in the news the odd time I doubt very much my impression of it then would change today.
I was at a gas station on a main street in broad daylight. I was there for as long as it took to fill my tank. I couldn’t wait to get out of there. The tension in the air was palpable.

John Lennon is the least convincing of the persons rendered. What if you aged a picture of Paul McCartney from 1980, would it look anything like the vibrant performer he is? Lots of subjective judgements are made in this process.

It says in the intro that it’s age simulation software… so I’m thinking the progression is made according to an algorithm…

in essence, not really judgement, but strict adherence to some statistical average of facial changes per year in human ageing.

But we all know people who look older or younger than their peers, or than they “should.”

Some stick to a style or “look” that fools us into thinking they look the same as ever…

….

That purported image of John Lennon looks 90, not 80, and ignores his personality, and his energy, or aura, or whatever you want to call it.

I don’t think he’d ever fall into wearing those bland “elderly” expressions.

Along with Paul McCartney, I’d love to see what it does with a picture of Cher, say from the 70s…

I bet it wouldn’t look ANYTHING like what Cher looks like now, at 75.

(For one thing, it can’t foresee plastic surgery .. Not even makeup and hair coloring.)

Ringo just turned 80, too… He looks old, but not as old as that guess at John.

Yoko Ono will be 89 in a few days.
