Accepting the surface area of Lake Tahoe as the area of the Ponderosa (from the Latin feminine form of  —  massive  —  ) if the Poderosa were perfectly square it would be 13.8 miles on a side.

The producers of both BONE 🐶 ANZA and BONANZA seem to be following the dwarves’ mapping protocol of having East on the top.

I remember an uncle getting a color TV in the early 1960’s and throwing a party so everyone could watch Bonanza in color. Kudos again, StelBel!! Is the date an April Fool’s joke?

Rhapsody In Blue is one of my favorites of all time. Gershwin had more talent in his little finger than most songwriters have in their whole body and the bodies of their close relatives.

Great poster Stel Bel! When I was a kid watching this every Sunday with my family, I had no idea, from looking at that map, just how big the Ponderosa was! Lots of room for a dog to run, or, waddle around in.

While most people will never have heard the “lyrical” rendition of the

VOICE OF DOOM’S

“Bonanza” theme song, I, will generously give to them, and you, the only charted song of his “musical” career.

Interesting. Didn’t care much for it, but I enjoy Shatner in Boston Legal.

These two are not overwhelming evidence that Canadians as a whole cannot sing.
And just for fun, I give you “Tiny Tim.” Jerry Lee Lewis eat your heart out.   😁

Tiny Tim was underestimated. Of course, he is the one who chose to present himself as a walking satire.

Thank you; I just ate – home-made pizza with spinach, green olives etc.
Maundy Thursday is called “Gründonnerstag” (green Thursday) here in Germany.

I’m more of a bacon/sausage and egg kind of guy with a side of two buttered slices of whole wheat toast. None of that sweet tooth stuff for me.

I keep waiting for that “April Fool!” from you…

but if it’s not forthcoming, sorry to …uh… doubt you, um, Mr. McConnell.

In re Tigressy’s fish card… .. pretty, but in case anybody is wondering… few in the US know that an April Fool in France is called un “poisson d’avril” …an April fish.

A traveling French friend used to send me fish greeting cards every April, till we lost track of each other after a few years.

Some had to do with the custom of sneakily taping a paper fish to each others backs on April 1st … like a “kick me” note at summer camp.

She was surprised that I didn’t know.

Wow… “Bonanza!”

One of the only programs the whole family agreed could not be missed!

We gathered round the huge 14″ black and white TV every Sunday night to pay our respects.

My sister claimed Little Joey as HER dog…

But I didn’t care cos I wanted to put my leash on Pawnell Robarks… to me, the smart, handsome pick of the litter.

We later found out all of the “brothers” were years older than we thought…

and except for Little Joey, all wore toupees, being far too old to be growly-voiced, also wig-wearing, Lorrrrne Grrreene’s puppies….

even though in their roles on the show, they all acted like obedient teenagers.

Speaking of his grrrowly voice…

someone apparently told Lorrrne Grrreene he could sing!

It must have been a day like today….

only they forgot to yell “April Fool!”

Nonetheless, we loved the show…

Accepting its premise … Three grown men living with Pa, obeying his orders… and always ready to solve problems on the range.

In honour of it being “National Sourdough Bread” day.

Trapping The Wild Yeast  (all the relevant instructions are in the quote below)

I started with a cup of reconstituted powdered skim
milk.  Even if you use whole milk for everything else, I
suggest you start with skim milk.  It’s not that it sours
more quickly (though it seems to), it’s that with
homogenized milk, because the fat molecules are so
evenly distributed, it’s not as easy to tell when the milk
has begun to sour.

Covering the milk with a bit of cloth (only
to keep out dust and wandering bugs) I left it on my side-
board for almost two days, until it smelled sour.

Once it soured, I added a cup of flour, then stirred
the mixture and covered it loosely again. (Note:  1 cup of
milk plus 1 cup of flour makes about 1 cup of mixture.)

Within a couple of days the mixture had begun to
make bubbles (a sure sign that yeast is in residence) and
taken on a spongy look.  Don’t worry if the liquid
separates out on top — you can stir that right back in.

If you get no bubbling action by the fifth day of your
project — start over.     If you get various colored molds on top — throw it
away and start over.

Notes from me:
I used the basic idea from above; but why complicate things.
1 cup whole milk
1 cup flour
mix together
cover and put outside on a hot summer’s day
I had yeast bubbles within six hours.
If it smells like yeast, it is yeast.

I didn’t watch Bonanza growing up, I always assumed it was close to Texas. I’ve been to the area in the map (Carson City, Silver City, Tahoe). It was part of my first trip to Reno for the air races (that inspired my avatar). We had frequent-flyer tickets to fly into Reno. Fortunately, USAir decided the week prior to cancel service to Reno. We changed our flight to Sacramento and drove over the mountains and up through Nevada. It was a much more spectacular trip that way. It was also that trip, at Tahoe, that I got to “ride the Earth”; my first (and so far only) earthquake.

Earthquakes are why California’s so expensive — they throw in the entertainment with the package.

LOVE today’s poster, Stel!!!! This was one of our all time favorite shows growing up! I think it’s one of the reasons I’ve been fixated on the Old West all my life. Of course The Boys of the Ponderosa helped my love affair with cowboys, too. (Yes, MMM knows about it)

Also love the music selections. Dum de dum da dum dummmmmmmmmmmm…

Yikes!

I never saw an animation OR any code…

My android browser. kept trying to open the image… and trying…. and trying…

I.tried to “kill” the page from the “open apps” tab… About 4 times.

Every time I tried to use the browser again it just went back to being hung up agan, tilI I rebooted the tablet.

What’s going on in there?

It’s a black hole!
