It is a beautiful bird, and it is unquestionably a bird of prey.

I’m thinking it must be an Alpine Ibex… but I’ve never seen one with a full 360° turn on his horns, much less nearly two.

Wow.

Aaagh!

Not fair!

It’s like winning the race by taking steroids. The real competitors have no chance.

It IS a nice job on the Photoshop, though.😁

It’s like they’re winding themselves up for the charge…

Storing wiggle energy in their battery packs, to help power their hind legs.

What’s also funny is that the prey…. the object of all that preparation, and victim of the mighty leap ….might be a tiny moth, or a feather on a string.

A brave little bird, indeed.

And a seemingly already well fed dog.

Baby Quail? Or some breed of chick?

Hard to tell how big the dog is, but if it’s a “dog-size” dog, say, 20 -30 pounds, the “chick” is bigger than a mama quail, which this bird is not one of.

A baby quail is only the size of a quarter, and grows to maybe twice that, with stripes, by the time it’s fully fledged, ie, feathered enough to fly. Not that they fly much.

This bird has huge feet and we can’t see its tail feathers, which does make it look like a chick, not an adult, but it’s feathered, not downy, and seems to be flying about on its own.

A fledgling wren? Or some other small brown bird?
Doesn’t look like a chicken, and too small unless that’s a big dog.

You’d think I didn’t have more important things to think about….

A      LINK      to the six second repeating TikTok video from which this still is taken (the techno music accompanying is very annoying / I muted my sound as fast as I could).

Edited in a bit later:

It repeated for me when I found it, but apparently posting the U.R.L. strips that.
You’ll have to manually repeat if you want to see it again.

Finally, something more from Claude than “confound it, Cleo”. It’s about time. Now we know what his limit is; airhorn + bullhorn.

I think you could have figured that out without the experimentation, Cleo. Now experiment on helping Claude recover from his heart attack!
