My in-laws lived in Orlando, so we took many trips to Florida. Four of those stays coincided with scheduled shuttle launches. Four times we drove from Orlando to Cape Canaveral, staked out a spot across the bay and managed to actually see one launch. The other three were made it to within a few minutes of launch before being scrubbed and rescheduled. The one I saw was pretty cool. You see it light up the horizon (it was a night launch); watch it start to rise, then the roar reaches you and you can feel it.

I would love to see (and hear/feel) a launch.

Kind of makes me sad to see him on horseback, even though he does it well, and millions of people ride horses safely.
But it reminds me that it was being thrown from a horse that caused his paralysis, and his eventual demise.
In case you don’t recognize him, even after all that.. .. may as well make it part of the celebrity game….
He did love horses.
