Thank you for a really, really, good laugh! ! !
I never realized how much that line has become part of the culture of today.
It’s not quite up there with “Kansas,”…but it’s close.
I finally got it, and if there was still a top-40 radio station in your area I would ask the on-air D.J. to dedicate (in the appropriate sense) this song to you.
The Pete Jacobs Wartime Radio Revue videos are excellent. They are the whole package; solid, swinging instrumentals, superb three-part harmony from the singers, choreography that’s appropriate both to the music and the performers, and costumes to match.
originally, I was going to post the 40’s Andrew Sisters version that you did, but
I thought those modern girls did a pretty good job, the video was crystal-clear
and yes, the skirt length was an bit more modern
That Andrews Sisters/Supremes with Sammy Davis, Jr. as emcee is outstanding. That has to be a rarity. I give them all a ton of credit, especially the Andrews Sisters, for doing that show and putting themselves out there. It wasn’t easy when they did their thing in the 40’s, and it didn’t get easier while they were having lives. That takes a lot of work, style, skill, and courage to do that. It was a fabulous job of singing by the Supremes (what a surprise /s), but they were on top of the world and of their game when they did that show. They were in practice and in shape, singing-wise.
Well, it’s your website, and you can do what you want. I’d hoped for better. Pearls Before Swine was good today. I won’t post the comic, but I’ll give you a link.
Far be it to argue with your guardian angel, Dean!! LOL
LOVED it!!!

My goodness… you’re welcome!
🙂

Those girls are cute and all… and of course you guys may like that their skirts are shorter…
But something makes me want to post the originals:
Their pep and enthusiasm, along with their tight harmonies…. IMHO it really has no equal.
…
While I’m at it, a sort of historical curiosity… but fun.
I’ve had this saved in my YouTube favorites.
…
Sorry about the video quality… must be recorded off a TV…
but it’s worth seeing.
I couldn’t find the date but it has to be about 1965 or maybe1966…
after those Supremes hits came out, and before their line-up changed.
…
The Andrews Sisters were, to be polite… not very young… but they sound great.
BTW I use Firefox, and those videos sure look embedded to me….
One thing to remember…. as I’ve said before… sometimes you need to refresh 2 or 3 times for this site to actually finish refreshing…
and even after THAT, wait a few minutes.
….
Until then, your log-in and/or the comment count may not be complete, images may not show…
and videos may still be links.

I thought so too.
Hope you didn’t mind my posting the originals… I just thought the comparison was interesting.
That’s what I thought of when I saw Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.

What a fun morning! Great music and topping it out with the Andrews meeting the Supremes. Toe tapping music. Thanks, guys.
Wow, that was special, Supremes and Andrews Sisters exchanging songs! Thanks!
