I never understood why he did not run off perpendicular.

Uneven ground?

And couldn’t the plane just change directions too?

Not an answer, cos I wondered too… Just surmises.

One of the dancers in the polka-dot pantsuits looks like Valerie Perrine. Could it be?

So he is watering the plants with the water from his helmet? That can only go so far.

It looks like he’s about to be a fish (head) out of water.

When I like a comment, it shows up as one of those purple faces. But when I comment, my avatar shows. I don’t know how to fix that.

You need to ‘login’ again. I have this happen all the time. I don’t know why it knows who you are when you comment and not when you like something. Computer mysteries or more likely WordPress mysteries.

That is fun. It reminds me of Mnozil Brass (an Austrian ensemble).

I could be wrong, but I think its name is Mount Nap More.
It features four great nappers of the bassetverse.

To keep your mind sharp work the problem in the attachment (it’s from the “Daily Mail” London, England).

The answer is…

21

Pretty basic algebra.

You didn’t show your work.

Here it is.

Hugh’s initial bale count = x

∴ Michael’s initial bale count = 3x

8(x – 5) = 3x – 5

8x – 40 = 3x – 5

5x – 40 = – 5

5x = 35

35/5 = 7

∴ x = 7 and 3x = 21

8 ×(7 – 5) ≟ 21-5

56 – 40 ≟ 21 – 5

16 ≟ 16 (yes)

∴ Michael had 21 bales to start with.

Clearly a pretty simple problem to solve, as Susan says. But I always like to go with “42”, as I’m too lazy to actually think.

But what is the question?

Hitchdog is always great, and this is one of his best. I recognized a number of actors in the “complete idiot” scene, even though they had no lines. Martin Landau for one.
Was there ever anyone who could do “unctuous” better than Jimmy Mapuppy? He just oozes it.

North by Northwest!

Who could ever forget the imagery in this film?

The stark light in which the handsome, suave Cary Growl and the elegant Eva Marie Saint Bernard are fleeing their pursuers …

Cary running from that low flying, attacking crop duster.

The two of them clambering in basset fashion over that giant, cold, stone muzzle…..

Heart-stopping, indeed!

….

I see Stel posted the people version.

The huge human sculptures have short, pointy “people muzzles” … really just noses.

Who could clamber about on one of those puny things?

…..

Eva Marie St. Bernard always seemed a bit cool, as canines go…. but I have to admit she looks beautifully sleek in this.

And nobasset does as much for a suit as Cary Growl!
