Isn’t that the title of John Green’s book?
Not that I know what it’s about.

I think that it’s Terry Prachet. (spelling doubtful)
Astro physicists have been embracing the term. Kinda like the paleontologists using a banana for scale. Semi inside joke.

A while ago I thought I’d take a break from Terry Pratchett and try something more cerebral — “A Brief History of Time.” Stephen Hawing started citing turtles on page one!

The Internet is a strange place.

I did an image search for this.

The sources I found that seem perhaps the most reliable say this is a ballerina fountain in Suzhou, China by Polish artist Malgorzata Chodakowska.

Other sources say it’s in Poland, but don’t say where.

And still other sources are catalogs of Chinese merchandise with photographs of the real fountain, presumably… but offering it for sale!

I’d go with the first idea.

I did a search also. Evidently, one can get a copy of this artwork (and other similar styles) and it said that this was located in Poland but China may also be a possibility.

Surprisingly, those trees in the background are also statues.

When the invisible man drinks coffee, do you see it going down his throat, or does everything become invisible once it enters his mouth?

That depends on the author and the “physics” behind the story.

Wow… she looked exactly the same as a child.

Makes me want to look for a baby picture to see if it was already true.

No mistaking

that she’s…

I don’t understand the facial recognition magic. I recognize the adult, but don’t see it in the baby picture at all.

The picture of the “Starsky and Hutch” Ford Torino is a link to an episode of C.B.C.’s / Terry O’Riley’s “Under The Influence”/

comment image

The episode (“Cars Are The Stars: Automobile Brands in Hollywood”) recounts the influence of movies and television on car manufacturing and sales.
“Starsky and Hutch’s” Ford Torino’s story, James Bond’s Aston Martin, and the story of the Mustang from “Bullitt” are featured with anecdotes about other models.
If you’re at all interested in cars and/or movies this is a really interesting episode.

I love the warning he puts up on these.
True Facts is not appropriate for children,
nor for adults who don’t act like children.

A parenting lesson from the Cliffords:

1) Your dog wheels out a catapult.
You express alarm.

But do you question her?
No.

What do you do?
You sit there.

….

2)Your dog brings out her dinner, and loads it into the catapult.

Do you stop her?
No.

What do you do?
You sit there

…..

3) Your dog releases the catapult, flinging dog food at the wall between you.
Do you scold her?
No.

Punish her?
No.

What do you do?
Capitulate to her assumed demand.

……

End of lesson.

….

Bonus question for 10 extra points:

What word is never heard during this exercise?

Answer: “No.”

Half credit for “Confound it!”

That is one of my favorite Cleo animations. Lots of action. And who could resist Cleo’s little eyebrow rise.
