Above the comments is a comment count…
Next to it is a very small icon, a generic “user head” with a teensy settings “gear”.
(Mousing over it, you’ll see “My content and settings”)
Click it, and there’s a list of all your past comments.
Click one of those, and you’ll go directly to it.

If you happen to be looking for replies to a specific comment, it’s much easier than scrolling pages, wondering where you posted it.

Including kibblecorn at the movies, and beef juleps at the Derby.

We can recreate some of that magical experience at home, with recipes for the same refreshments.
Traditional Houndtucky Beef Julep:
1/4 tsp Powdered sugar, 1 tsp beef “Better than Bullion” or 1 boullion cube, 2 oz. Kentucky Bourbon (1oz for dogs under 50 lbs) , 2 Tbsp Boiling Water, Beef Jerky or small Bone for garnish.
(If real beef broth is available, omit boullion and water, and substitute 3 to 4 tbsp hot or cold broth.)
In a highball glass or small water dish, mix the bullion, sugar and water… Crush cube if necessary. Fill the glass or bowl with cracked ice, add Bourbon and stir well. Garnish with a step of jerky or a small, preferably meaty, beef bone.
Milk Bones are not recommended for garnishing liquid.
Okay, so I know the zipper was invented by a Canadian guy, eh? But then this science show claimed the zipper was an example of an “inclined plane.” So I said “Huh?” But the show never got back to me, eh? Anybody know why zippers are inclined planes?
a zipper is called a simple machine because it works by putting two inclined planes (wedges) side by side so those inclined planes create a sharp edge there by forming a zipper.
Okay, but I don’t see an inclined plane (a tool to lift weights against gravity) as being equivalent to a “keystone” (a tool that holds weights together… )
The zipper pull has diagonal sides, that easily slide up the wedges (ie the little inclined planes) of the teeth, pushing them together.
It makes the distribution of that force simple and smooth. If the tooth sides were straight instead of inclined, the zipper head would have no… um… inclination to move.
As the head pushes them, little tiny teeth or spikes on the top of each tooth are forced into interlocking with an indentation in the tooth above, holding them together.

Downward, another double inclined plane, a wedge, is pulled between the teeth, separating them.
Wedges are often used to separate things…
Like an axe blade driving wood fibers apart… Which is similar to a screw wedging out a spiral path.
Welll, maybe. but I thought “simple machines” only did one thing each… Now we got wedges and screws making inclined planes work — it ain’t simple any more!!!!
I don’t have actual knowledge of this, but I would think you would run the Derby first, then the wiener dogs. If you race the wiener dogs first, you run the risk of a straggler when the bigger, stronger, and heavier beasts come rumbling through. Nobody wants to see that collision.

the difference is, if you use the bell icon, you get email…
separate messages for every reply, including the content.

I was getting e-mails about replies to replies, and it was too much…
But maybe I should have used it on fewer of my comments.

The icon I was describing is not a bell, it’s a generic “game playing piece” style head.
It doesn’t send you any email, or even tell you if there are any replies..
It simply takes you directly to your own comment, so you can check for yourself.

I wish we could check other users’ comments that way,
like the most recent 10 comments (which I wish were 20), linked to on GoComics profile pages… including our own.

You can follow another user by clicking what looks kind of like a WiFi icon right below their avatar…
But again, that sends you a lot of email if the person is a prolific commenter.
