Mine was a rubber bathing cap, covered in 3D flowers… not as fancy as that dogs chapeau, but fancier than similar bathing caps, with bigger flowers.
I can still remember them, each petal double layered, like a cut-out of a balloon…. I think mostly blue, lavender, and mauve, with yellow stamens in the middles.
I saved my babysitting money to buy it, in high school… I thought it was so chic. LOL
I always HATED having to wear a bathing cap. My hair was usually short (and still is). Can remember being on vacation once (under 10 years old) and having someone at a hotel tell my Dad I needed to wear a bathing cap. He pointed at a guy with hair twice as long as mine and said when you make him wear one, I’ll tell her to wear one.
My hair is super thick… Or was till lately. I wanted it long… my parents made me keep it short till I was about 16.
By the time it got to my shoulders, I was a senior in high school, and it wouldn’t fit under most bathing caps. If it did, they were so tight they gave me a headache.
A cap was required for swimming class… and kind of needed anyway. We were walked 2 blocks, in a group, to the YMCA… Wet hair froze on the way back to school.
The flowered one was a little looser, and so…um… fancy… I splurged.
I felt elegant. LOL

There are some really nice people on this planet.
The scenes from the movie “The General” were filmed in Central Oregon. The scene in the movie with the train crash into the river left the train in the river until the onset of WWII when it was scrapped for metal to help in the war effort.
That’s why good hair cutting shears cost hundreds of dollars.
Or so they tell us. A salon will say you can’t work there unless you prove your shears cost a certain amount. Probably $500 now.
I had to buy $300 shears …. That’s why stylists get mad if you call them scissors.
But they needed sharpening a lot, had to be sent out, and it cost $30… So you were advised to have 2 pairs.
For years, I’ve instead used “cheap” $75 shears…they must be over $100 by now… with disposable blades that cost $10 to replace, after dozens of haircuts.
Claude, I suspect that you need to keep the blades sharp, which is not something you can do yourself.
Oddly, I learned from a friend years ago, whose daughter was in school to become an “aesthetician”, that you can have nose hair waxed. I was assured it was fast, easy, and painless because my friend had needed to undergo many of the procedures the daughter was learning so the kid could practice. That being said, I have never looked into getting this done on myself. Not there yet.
I’m still a licensed cosmetologist in California… at least for now.
To cut hair here, and in most states, you have to be trained and licensed to also do the services offered by manicurists and estheticians, though they have shorter courses and don’t learn hair services.

That means I had to take just as many hours of waxing as an esthetician… I’ve waxed eyebrows, legs, arms, bikini lines, armpits, and even a back or two.
I’ve rarely done it since I finished school… salons tend to have a person who mostly waxes, and I wasn’t interested. But I usually knew what services were offered.
Till tonight I’d never heard of waxing nose hair!
It doesn’t sound safe to me, as the skin inside your nostrils is very delicate, lacking the tougher outer layer of external skin.

So I just now googled it… sure enough, I saw ads for the service, kits for home use…
and several healthcare and medical advice sites advising against it.
It may be fine for most people… nevertheless, it borders on being invasive and can cause bleeding and infections.

I’m not totally unbiased… though I DID it, I don’t really like the idea of waxing anything… it’s not good for your skin. The pain is a clue.
I usually say if you really want to , it’s your choice.
But FWIW, I’d have to say pleasedon’t wax nose hair!

I don’t know how many years…. but they didn’t offer it around here 25 years ago.
My Boring Sunday bit (last week’s weight 180.8 lbs. / goal weight today – 179.3 lbs.).
I am now 180.4 lbs. pounds.
180.8 lbs.– 180.4 lbs. = 0.4 lbs.
35.8lbs. – 0.4lbs. = 35.4 lbs. (balance of desired loss to reach 145 lbs.).
29.296875 in³/lb. butter × 0.4 lbs. = 11.71875 in³ of me lost (1,037.109375 in³ of me to go) .
180.4 lbs. – 1.5 lbs. = 178.9 lbs. (next Sunday’s goal weight).
I have never, and do not, subscribe to the “because-I’m-exercising-I-can-eat-more-food” philosophy so my optimism keeps trying to tell me that my gain in muscle mass offset most of my fat mass loss; but who knows?
I am fitter than I was two weeks ago when I began this regimen though (not really saying much right now, but I am).
My Trikke T-12 rides now easily make the 1/2 hour mark, and I’m going to increase that time this week. I hope to make 45 minutes today, and increase to an hour by the end of the week. If you’ve ever ridden a Trikke you’ll know what a leg and shoulders user it is.
I’ve also added a couple of more exercises to my regimen, which should also help with the calorie burn.
Here’s hoping I’m 178.9 lbs. next Sunday.
