Unfortunately Imgur isn’t really an image hosting site anymore, and it’s tricky to save images to it without posting them to Usersub. (Drag an image to the Imgur page, let it upload and give it a title, upload more images if you wish using the button below the uploaded image. Wait for them to upload, then hit the back button to get to Imgur again. Give it a couple of minutes and you can then access the images from your folders without them being uploaded to Usersub). If you manage it, then getting to the pictures is not straightforward either. You have to click on the ‘chat’ icon, and then on your Username to get the link to your Images/Folders.

Once you do that, you can get to your images, click on the one you want and choose the ‘Direct Link’ option to get an image without the Imgur logo and other stuff. That’s how I got the link for the bunny picture I posted earlier.

Of course, once you do manage to your Folders and Images, you can then Bookmark the page and jump back there easily 🙂

Apologies if you knew this already.

You probably recognize

these two….
Cary Grant and Katherine Hepburn

This time in

another great movie…
The Philadelphia Story.

I say “another” because I’ve already said that one of their three earlier pairings is …

one of my all-time favorite movies:
Bringing Up Baby. It’s very hard to beat!

But this one is very good too, and I’d gladly watch either again.

He’s doing a better job of hiding than some of the creatures in the puzzles…. even though he’s probably just following the path of least resistance.

Ive spotted some kind of little grass snake in my yard several times since i moved in. .
About as big around as a pencil and about a foot long.
Fawn is fascinated by the little things but isn’t aggressive towards them at all.
I’m going to have to get a good photo of one.

One day I had my my husky out on a walk on a trail and she pulled to one of the small side trails that was covered in leaves. We went a short way in and she started staring off to one side, and slowly I realized there was movement and then made out some snakes. I looked around at the abundant leaf clutter and realized that it was all moving. Even though they were just garter snakes, being surrounded is creepy. I pulled Luna forward and we hurried down the trail until it emerged back into a main trail.

I see little bitty snakes every now and then slithering across my tiny patio…

Not garter snakes, maybe the same as what Happy3 sees.

Kind of grayish tan, sometimes brown… I only see maybe one or two a year, not much bigger than a cigarette.

They’re very fast.. long gone by the time I get near.

Garter snakes are about the only species we get here on the coast. Sounds like a teenager…

I followed links all over the place…. got different results here and there. But most sites agreed that this was taken in Little Italy, in New York City, in 1945, celebrating the end of WWII.

A couple of sites said it was Brooklyn, a few said it was 1942.

Not one told me what I wanted to know:

What are all those excess ropes draped all over the place? They look too tangled to be clotheslines or serve any useful purpose.

I was just going to say the same thing.

Things we probably searched for that time are popping out at me now, even though I’m not looking for them, and I’m so tired my vision is blurry.

Do you see a sewing needle? Rabbit? Fish? Pencil? Books? And what might be a glove?

Dang it i found the sailboat, but while I was looking at the other stuff it disappeared.

Oh well…. It’ll sail back into view.

Don’t do the fb, but the banana for scale has a long history 🙂

.

On March 30th, 2005, a photo of a banana placed against a TV set was posted on the blog Rockdogdesigns with a description explaining the TV was for sale:

“I don’t know how big the screen is, we’re moving and I can’t find the tape measurer. But I do have a banana. For scale. Oh wait, my husband says it’s 19inches. Oh well, I’ll leave the banana for interest. Please be interested.”

One time at Costco, the bananas were so big I took a picture of some.

Their bunches (actually we’re supposed to say hands) are 3 pounds, usually about 7 or 8 bananas… I like to find 9 or 10 smaller ones instead.

These had about 4 giant bananas in a 3 pound bunch, as big as a toddler’s arm!

Just regular Cavendish ones… But I’ve never seen that size since.

I’ve seen several similar photos that turned out to be photoshopped… one fake that a couple of people have posted here was of a woman, a bit more recent… so I didn’t believe this one.

But I searched it, and reputable places like Bettman Archive include it as historical… so yeah, I think it’s real.

His name is Carl… And he’s waving at coworkers while doing construction on the 88th floor of the Empire State Building, in 1930.

No, AFAIK, definitely okapi.

You can see, particularly by the one on the right, that this is basically a black animal, with some white areas and striping on their legs.

Zebras are more horse-like … They’re white animals, usually with completely striped legs, and a tail that’s partly like a horse’s. Those black shoulders and rumps do not belong to zebras.
