What a great show; Zero Bassetel in Piddler. So many others came after Zero, some of them outstanding as well, but it remains Zero’s role. He doesn’t howl so much as growl his way through it. It has to be a tremendously difficult role to take on, because you are almost always on stage.
It hasn’t for ages, it’s a rule in their comment policy. It’s the reason I got banned from commenting there, even though there was an an informal agreement (From some time ago) that we could as long as they were dead-end links (Pictures, not Websites)
I gave up my premium status there because of the over zealous application of that policy. My money won’t go to them anymore. And I told them why, not that it will make any difference…
That explains @YaketySax’s post today; it was just “>”. He typically posts links, often without explanation. Oddly, I see more “bad” words slipping through now.

Be sure to watch for Bea Bea Arfur…. you’ll recognise her by her husky growl, along with her imposing height (for a basset hound)… which helped propel her to television stardom on BTV’s Paw’d, and later the Golden Lab Girls.
Of course, the great Zero Bassetel needs no introduction.
I’ve always wondered why his dogparents named him Zero, though…. he grew up to be anything but!

Trivia…. how many know that the book for this musical was adapted from short tales written by celebrated Doggish storyteller, Sholem I’like’em?
But the title (and the poster) were suggested by several paintings by the Russian-French Doggish artist, Bark Shagall.

As you can see in Stel’s first “comment”… the humans did a Pale imitation….
(That’s actually a horrible pun I once explained, but probably everyone has forgotten… sigh…)
Since the human production starred, you know… people… in the canine roles, it lacks the charm of the basset original.
And with their human delicacy, they pussyfooted (always a bad sign) around the title, and called it “Fiddler,” instead of “Piddler.
So there’s no organic reason for them to have copied the aptly-colored yellow background of Stel’s “Piddler” poster.
I auditioned for a part in Fiddler many years ago. I had been in an industrial accident and had my arm in a cast in a sling. When I landed the role of the innkeeper, I announced that I was happy to be “In The Cast”.
I got the cast off the day before I drove the wife to the hospital for the birth of our third child.
I brought my balailaika to rehersal one night and played a tune or two. The director insisted I wear the sling and carry the balailaika on stage.
I can definitely see room for one more.

She’s human… I don’t know whether you’re having the same problem I did at first…
But it was hard to tell, until i realized that her head is turned sideways, over the top of the rooster’s head.
Once you get your bearings you can easily see her human features.

They class it as Spam.
But it worked. It doesn’t now.
I think they finally figured out people are getting around their rules, by posting URLs that are not live links, so they’re simply cracking down.
I’ve been expecting it ever since they posted their policy…
