The caption by the photographer herself actually says “Pretzel vendor and emigrant”. I have to think she means immigrant.. but honestly, I don’t know which is which in the image.

Rebelling against the restrictions on Victorian era women, she was known to carry over 50 pounds of photographic equipment through the streets of New York, traveling alone on her bicycle.
In my family, we kids watched it every possible day, and we very often played as Howdy Doody characters the rest of the time.
Because I was the oldest, I played two characters. I was Princess Summerfallwinterspring, because I adored her, and had an obsession with Indian princesses, but my siblings insisted I play Flub-a-dub, who also directed the action in our playing, AND served as my sister’s pet, because we weren’t allowed a real one.
Hey c’mon… I know what you think… But we were all under about 7, at the time, not teenagers!
I commented late on yesterday to say that today would be delayed… if something is missing, it’s always a good idea to check the day before in case there’s an explanation.
But I forgot to mention that I get back here late in the “morning”… which is usually afternoon.
I’ve posted the solution now… but this page is full, so it posted on page two.
They are supposed to be aggressive – not this one.
Rather small specimen; came in thirsty yesterday – I gave her a little apple-juice; she returned and found the right way out after her second visit.
Today, I put some Mango fruit drink in a saucer for her. Frequent flyer! She drank a lot.

I was thinking Mom because of, well, heels <grin>! Who else would wear heels to a kid’s birthday party?
