Thanks for posting “Strange Fruit”. By far, it’s the most important song she ever did. And, it’s haunting and so sad to listen to.
I considered posting it last night, and couldn’t decide, since I like to keep things light here. But, the bottom line is that it is too important not to share.
I’ll be out of touch for a week. Y’all stay out of too much trouble while I’m gone. I doubt that Cleo will come and bail you out (though she might howl a benefit concert for you).
Great combination of musical numbers following Cleo’s attempt to howl like Billie Howliday! I just played them one after the other and it was a fun package. I know you can’t provide sound so I added this link so we can imagine what we are missing:
I have to confess that it was not until today that I finally figured out what the term, “sock hop” meant, or at least, how it came about. I never connected it with having to take off your shoes, presumably to not damage the gym floor.
I can’t even imagine why they didn’t include “Easthampton” on the map! And, for that matter, what about Southampton and Westhampton?? I live in the “Hamptons”!
(OK, granted……not in the famous “Hamptons” of Long Island…..but still…..!)

Hi all! Some of you will remember me as ‘Number Six’ over at the dreadful GoComics site.
Great to see Cleo & Company again!
Thanks for the heads up, StelBel!

I remember seeing the movie when it came out. Loved it.
Me, too.
I think I’ve seen the movie before, but it’s on my to-watch-list.

Movie: “The Lady Sings The Blues”
Billie Holiday: “Song: Strange Fruit”
Diana Ross: Song:”Strange Fruit”
Youtube seems to have permanently plugged the “no-advertisement” loophole. UGH ‼
I already have it, but thank you!
Funny; I don’t have those problems with youtube. Maybe because of my plugins etc. for firefox?

Thanks for the notice. We worry.
I’ll ditto that! Have a good time where ever you may be!
I hope you are doing something fun. I agree with Dennis ~ thanks!
Be careful, whatever it is! 🙂
Stay safe. Hurry back.
Thanks for letting us know!

PS I liked the leash instead of the handcuffs.
PPS is that your drawing of Billie? Wow!
I had some trouble with the angle of the head, and Nighthawks kindly helped me with that, so it was a collaboration between us. I’m glad you liked it!
That’s some blues-howlin’ goin’ on there!
.
The EWC really gets around!
Montana Lady mentioned 50’s sock hops yesterday
..
When there weren’t enough guys to dance with………..
we were all huddled in the corner trying to get up the nerve to ask someone to dance…
yeah we were
Hah! Figures!
Yup.

Again, for me……DUH!
Danny and the Juniors: “At The Hop”
And, nobody stole our shoes, either!
I remember this commercial!
Good morning Balladeers, (((((Plods))))) and Miss Susan.
Love me some howlin’ blues. Throw in some raspy purplies and hoo boy howdy….
Good morning, Cleophanatics and Blues aficionados! Another spot on cinema masterpiece from our resident artiste. Well done, as always, Stel.
Y’all support your local thrift shop. (((((HuGz!)))))
What a fun morning! First we have a delightful Cleo howling the Blues. Then we have all this delightful music to go along with it. A win-win day!!!
One of the weirder things you will see today if you take the…
…24 seconds…
…to watch it.
Note of caution:
Not everything on this site is as easy to watch as the above, so go cautiously if you explore.
That’s funny! Never would have expected it. Is that a love thing or a hate thing?
that reminds me of the first minute of this scene from the 1952 movie ‘Monkey Business’ with Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers
Beautiful poster. Very well done.
Thank you, PC !! It’s out of the “Classic” vault!
black cat appreciation day
Kiki.
Beautiful!
Yes! Yes she is! 😀
