I see Alexi has posted the Danish Symphony versions below. Great to watch! I’m sure the Basset Symphony of Cleveland could have done justice to those Wa-wa-was but these humans are okay.
Again, this one is an attachment; click to enlarge.
Sorry, Happy, I just had to confirm it was his breath we’re seeing. I wonder what gives it its colour (camera filter maybe?).
Don’t get fooled: That’s just a regular blackbird wearing the German flag…
Probably a Fußballfan.
And yes, the female players do that jersey exchange, too – not surprising there are so many male fans…
She is indeed memorable. The TV obits celebrate her as a black woman officer in a future spaceship, and also for taking part in the first interracial kiss on a TV series. I just watched that episode a couple days before she died. I think the reason they got away with it was that their physical actions were being controlled by their captors. Kirk was a womanizer but he knew better than to get involved with the crew.
I figured WTH…..it’s summer so why not another film festival? Plus, Cleo was bugging me to post them all at once with the accompanying Ennio Biscuitone masterpieces of movie scores. And, if you’ve ever been bugged by Cleo, you know that she just does not give up! She’ll even resort to setting fleas on you!!
And, as you mentioned, these performances are, indeed, tour de force….absolute classics.
Your write-up, as usual, was excellent! And, Cleo was pleased.
Last night all those recent very late hours caught up with me… I fell asleep at almost a normal time…
well, normal for an insomniac night owl, anyway.
So those of you who were waiting expectantly for “likes” from me… which I’m sure you were… and maybe even a couple of replies… didn’t get them till Monday evening.
…
One thing I noticed, though, when, as usual, I also checked back to the day before, which was the strip for Sunday, July 31st:
I know I posted a sort of parody… “If Cleo Had a Hammer” .. and it’s missing!
That post disappeared.
I’m pretty sure Nighthawks and Stel either can’t or never do remove posts…
and that there was nothing objectionable in it, even if WordPress does censor posts… which I doubt anyway.
So… did anybody see somebody steal it? Or is it just another strange WordPress glitch?
Or was I bad somehow?
….
Oh… speaking of being bad… I think I have to share.
In case you think you’ve been good lately… I found this little clipping yesterday, posted without comment on YouTube.
I couldn’t tell whether the commenter was serious or not, in sharing it… but there’s something here for everybody:
Wow.
Rock music, “Lord Of The Rings”, “Harry Potter”, vegetarianism… vegetarianism??… yoga, meditation… are all “doorways to demonic possession“?
Is anyone not evil?
There were some things I either didn’t recognise…
or figured the person who wrote it didn’t, and just threw in anything he/she didn’t understand…. like “trilateralism”(?), and “alt comix.”
Funny, in a way, but also sad, that some people might actually believe this, and condemn whatever they don’t recognise..
If you mean this one, it’s on Friday, July 29, 2022.

That’s what I thought… But I googled it, and there’s actually something called remote viewing art…
Paintings of imagined scenes, including extraterrestrials, or even religious figures….
Sometimes combined… Jesus meeting aliens, etc.
I’m not sure how it differs from just painting a bible picture, but even the straightforward biblical ones are considered some sort of psychic portrayal.
Maybe the artists are claiming to have “seen” visions….
I didn’t spend s lot of time reading about it…
But that’s probably what is meant on this list.
Cos, you know, all visions are doorways to demonic possession, even if they stem from one too many pickled onions and an extra glass of port.
I made two changes to x_Tech’s recipe intstructions:
1) I don’t own a spring form pan, so I used my 10-inch glass pie plate (I use one of my 9-inch ones for quiche / whipping cream and cheese).
2) I cut the bacon down to 1/2 pound (I shouldn’t have).
I don’t know whether to call this a snack, a brunch item, or a dessert. It’s sweetness makes it suitable for dessert, the bacon carries it for the other two.
Putting it together was easy. I put the cream cheese, brown sugar, eggs, sour cream, and vanilla into the mixing bowl all at once and started on low, using a spatula to push everything to the beaters. In the very early stages, the cheese will definitely clog the beaters. Stop them and clear them of all major clogs, use the spatula to get the cleared clogs to the beaters. By this time, the eggs and sour cream will have thinned the cheese that didn’t form the clogs so everything should blend smoothly at a higher speed. You’ll have to use your judgement.
For things like this, I stick the bacon in the oven in a covered pan (even a roaster will do) and bake it for 45 minutes at 350° F.. Drain the fat, blot the bacon on paper towels and cut as needed or wanted.
The crust went together exactly as per the recipe (when a recipe calls for melted butter, I melt more than sufficient butter in an oven proof glass measuring cup at the lowest temperature butter melts. After it’s melted I then, stir it and pour out the proper amount).
x_Tech’s baking times are approximate. So would mine be. You’ll need the hour for sure with the cake size though, and if it isn’t done keep an eye on it. Test by sticking a knife in the centre about every ten minutes if it’s not done in the hour.
I put the topping together as per the ingredients, but I overdid the stirring in of the sour cream, so it came out flat (still tasty though). Cooking time is again keep-an-eye-on-it.
Finally, as I said I blew the bacon. I made the mistake of thinking of this as my usual quiche for which 1/2 pound is more than enough. I thought x_Tech might be a baconic (you have alcohol and an alcoholic not an alcoholoholic). I was wrong, bacon’s taste is for once meeting its match.
I will make it again, but there is no reason to make the full recipe the ingredients can be easily cut in half, and I won’t have to freeze any as I do now.
first off, Stel, your posters are MAGNIFICENT! and my favorite film composer, Ennio!!! thanks for including the music and the spaghetti western poster!
i’m a little draggin’ today because we just got back from the airport where we said goodbye to our younger daughter as she returns to san diego. she has been a tremendous help these last 10 days.
ML, you’re too kind! I did remember that he is your favorite movie music composer, so I’m glad to provide this selection today!
I’m so happy to hear that you had a nice time with your daughter in the last few days, although I appreciate how tough goodbyes can be. I hope it won’t be too long before you can all get together again.
thanks guys. she flew up the day after my fall to surprise me. she’s able to work from home, and the only kid of the 4 who was able to come up. our youngest son & his family are planning a visit as soon as summer ‘school’ lets out in 2 weeks. MMM sure appreciated the help! we had many talks about changing the house to make it much safer!
If we had not remodeled for our changing needs 10 years ago, we would not be able to be here now. All our towel bars and a few others are HC acceptable. Barrier free showers help, with grab bars inside. In our tall house an elevator made a big difference, but that is not possible in most cases.
we have a bunch of grab bars all over the house. now we are going to remodel the master bathroom. a roll in shower with all kinds of safety features will be a ‘must’.
The artist at work.
Thanks for posting the music. I think the Danish Symphony’s version of TGBU has been posted before.
C’mon, an ugly bassett? Never!
I see Alexi has posted the Danish Symphony versions below. Great to watch! I’m sure the Basset Symphony of Cleveland could have done justice to those Wa-wa-was but these humans are okay.
I wish I could find the radio spot I remember. It ended with….
“The good kills because he has to.”
“The bad kills because he wants to.
“The ugly kills because he likes to.
Meanwhile here’s one of our favourite orchestras….
23:12 Eastern Daylight Time
What the heck, I’ll throw this one in as well. Perhaps our resident bassetverse correspondent can get its superior version for our edification.
Tiiiiiiiiiiin roof!
Rusted.
😉
Do you identify, Stel, or does it have to have an “I”?
Originally, I was Candy with a “y”, up to age 12. I changed it to “i” when I entered 7th grade and there was another Candy in the class.
Try finding any song reference to the name, “Candi” with an “i”! Almost impossible.
I did not know that!
Wow, you think you know a person.
Meanwhile, find a Susan song!
I don’t identify with all the Susies and Suzannes, except that I do love one song, because I was so young…
though I don’t really think of it as about me:
“Wake Up, Little Suzie!”
I want it for my alarm tone.
…
There are a TON of Sunshine songs though, that people have sung at me and teased me about for many years….
Mostly I just sigh.
…
I bet everybody sings “Honey Honey” at you.
“You are my Candy girl….🎵”
Nope. Never heard that directed at me. I wonder why….

it’s not too late to change your name to Stelbel
In the background of that Western desert model setup, looking like a sandstorm: Is that spaghetti?
That is exactly what it is. CARL WARNER LINK
Suitable for a spaghetti western.
His poncho looks like a slice of prosciutto?
Sorry, didn’t see this cos the page didn’t refresh correctly…
But yeah, I said the same thing after you did.
Italian westerns; Italian food!
Yup!
OMG — it’s ALL food!
Everything in the “painting” … cos it’s actually a photograph of a model made of food.
It’s a “spaghetti western” … so I guess the artist ran with it.
…
I can’t make it all out… but the “Man With No Name” is partly made of root vegetables…
his serape looks like prosciutto, and I think his hat brim is a slice of salami.
There are coffee beans, grains, and more spaghetti on the ground.
I think the hills in the background are Italian bread. “Rolling hills.”
Yup… and the fence posts and crosses are mostly buccatini (hollow spaghetti) or long macaroni…
And I see a few ridged gnocchi lying about.
The films that defined the phrase “spaghetti western.”
Redwing Blackbird.

Hey, you’re right… the colors look just about exact!

Don’t forget what she did for the space program and the recruiting of people who weren’t white men!

…
i hadn’t heard. thanks, Tigressy.
Wow… A triple feature!
All THREE Spaghetti-kibble Westerns… on one ticket!
To what do we owe this generosity, StelBel?
Each of these could easily fill a theater on its own.
…
Especially with three tour de force performances from our own Cleo Clifford:
A beautiful, glamorous female basset actress playing a purposely drab, scruffy male…
A basset of many … um… skillfully chosen words playing the silent type…
and holding her own in one of filmdom’s most iconic “macho” roles.
Huzzah!
…
You know you can’t look at them without hearing the music!!
Thanks for the clips, Stel… even if they’re not the dog versions.
They’re all iconic, anyway.
…
Ennio Biscuitone helped define the genre.
I don’t think these films would have been all they were, without his music…
which we can hear in those imitative human clips.
Only the dogs will notice that the high pitched notes outside our hearing range are missing.
Much as I hang out with Cleo and Company, I still can’t hear a dog whistle… and maybe that’s good.
….
If everybody wants to go see the whole triple feature with me…
I think Stel can get us passes for a matinee.
It runs till dinnertime, so I’ll sneak in a lot of treats… cookies, little sandwiches… and Milk Bones for the dogs.
Anything else?
I figured WTH…..it’s summer so why not another film festival? Plus, Cleo was bugging me to post them all at once with the accompanying Ennio Biscuitone masterpieces of movie scores. Oh the horror!
Oh, the… er…melonity.
innocent herds of watermelon cut down in their prime.

Thanks.
I think I accidentally changed tabs in the middle of looking at it.
As Alexi pointed out, your posted parody is still there. Has it reappeared for you, or is it still missing?
No… it’s… um … right where it was. (Blush).
I was tired, and had several tabs open… I think I accidentally touched one, while looking back at July 29th, and ended up on July 31st…
Looked at the comments, but didn’t even realize the “hammer” strip wasn’t on top any more.
Perkycat said something about Cleo having a hammer, and that was my cue to think my post was missing.
Oopsie!
Post-modernism?
Yeah, and video games.
Watch out!
“Remote viewing”.
Isn’t that social media?

X never actually made it…
He never baked and seldom ate sweets.
He found the recipe and said bacon cheesecake might tempt him to eat dessert.

Sorry she had to leave.
Did she just come because of your fall? That was really nice, if she did.
It was nice if she didn’t, too, and it was coincidental…. I’m just glad you had the help.
It a lot for one mountain man to handle, even if it’s not rocket science!
