Part one of the description:
“Arguably the most famous female aviator in history, Amelia Earhart visited Cary Grant on the set of his 1935 film Wings in the Dark. The movie revolved around a female aviator who is drawn to a flying ace and inventor, played by Grant.”
The actural picture caption:
“British born actor Cary Grant (1904 – 1986) with American aviatrix Amelia Earhart (1898 – 1937), the first woman to single-handedly fly the Atlantic. (Photo Credit: John Kobal Foundation/Getty Images)”
Part two of the description:
“The female aviator, played by Myrna Loy, was supposed to be loosely based on Earhart herself. It’s no wonder, then, that during filming Earhart was invited to the set to act as a consultant. Although Grant and Earhart met on set, and posed for a number of photos, there is very little else known about their meeting.”
All the above comes from HERE. The site has other photographs that are worth visiting it for.
A few years ago I cashed in the last of my EE bonds. They reached the end of their interest period. They were earning 6% through decades of market turmoil and extremely low bank interest rates.
Halloween, and not so good.
The county seat doesn’t like poor people like me. They make it hard to find smaller less expensive homes. The more expensive the home, the more tax money they get.
.
Obviously the prequel to the previous photo (of dogs on stairs).
They must be drugged. No way that many puppies would be asleep at the same time.
Someone would be chewing on someone else’s ear.
Could be photoshopped… Separate photos joined.
In fact the top six and the bottom one could all be the same pup, and a different, lighter one for the two steps in between.
It’s a great job of PhotoShop (if it is), but still probably easier than getting all those pups to pose.

Probably not much else known about their meeting cos they only posed for photos.
I misidentified him, but I always recognize Amelia ☺
me too…she’s always been a fascination for me
Part of a series by French photographer FRANCIS GIACOBETTI.

I’m male, so, yeah.
I like it.

There’s a little hotel
Called the Shady Rest
At the junction…
Ha! You tried to get me again…
But it won’t work with this one.
For a Flatt and Scruggs tune (I think) it’s always seemed kinda tuneless.
Plus I have no nostalgia for it, cos I never made it through one whole episode of the show.
I don’t about that song, but here’s Flatt & Scruggs with the Beverly Hill Billie’s theme.
I rather think it was styled to emulate the sound of a train. Rythmic, but mono-tonal.
Loved this show & the Green Acres spin off. Always wondered if the water tasted funny however…
I thought it spun the other way, but you are correct. I liked the Green Acres.
IIRC, Petticoat Junction spun off from the Beverly Hillbillies, and Green Acres from PJ…
Good thing it’s not on the other track.
Yeah… What’s with leaving that sitting there unrepaired?
Narrow gauge, also.
.,
Yes! Felt like less than a minute, but I wasn’t timing it…
Same.
me too
I got it in not very many seconds also.
What do I win?
Can i have a new house?
How goes your search? When do you have to be out?
Halloween, and not so good.

We’re all rooting for you.
god yes!
what color?
you can trade whatever it is for what is behind door number TWO!
Got it.
..,
Now I know where to go when I’m in the mood for an antique soda…
.
I gotta get me a pair of those!
I detest those things. Worse than useless.
I had some as a little girl: They belong on the upper arms only and have to fit tightly.
😀
“Oh crab!!!”
That pup looks so happy to have found a new friend.
And here we are… though some of you got here first…
back on the Midnight Express!
And with a murder on board!
Whoo hooooo… the engine calls…
And Sam Basset is on the job.
A corpse has been murdered!!
Wait… that would make him doubly dead….
“They don’t call me ace detective for nothing.”
“No, I don’t suppose they do. How much do you have to pay them?”
Ba-dum TSSSH!
In any case, if Sam is right… and when is he ever wrong?…
One down and… um… several more to go.
But we know Sam will solve this thing.
That’s why he gets the big Cleo and Company bucks.
Yesterday I went to the post office, which I don’t do often, and bought some stamps.
Apparently I missed the latest price hike by a few days… Dang!
A first class letter just went from 68¢ to 73¢. Yikes.
I buy forever stamps, and I’m just running out of some that were about 60¢.
I know it makes me ancient, but I remember 4¢ stamps, then 6… and everybody being shocked when they climbed to 8!
And nowadays they casually add 5¢ extra.
….
Anyway yesterday Nighthawks posted a picture of bottle caps that reminded me of the stamps I bought.
It’s not just the prices that are changing…
far out!
✌
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude…
