I like to play with that cursor too. Sometimes the hand is the right size in the comics.

I’m not so sure about that “health and strength” bit. He has got one badly mangled leg.

I’ve always liked mulling over this sort of .. I guess you could call it “overwrought” illustration… where the artist just kept adding unnecessary details to make it fancy…

like the scrolled edges on the paper banners, that wouldn’t make sense if unrolled

Especially the elaborately torn paper sign that the man (who may or may not represent William Penn) has stepped through.

The edges of the tear don’t match up, and some of the scrolled edges and pieces have impossible curves, so they could never unroll or lie flat, and would overlap if they did.

Yeah, I know… I have better things to do… But it’s kind of like a puzzle.

So clean and perfect, that in a photo with no living things for scale, like people or foliage, it looks like a toy car.

But the badge is too delicate, and the steering wheel too thin, for the scale of a toy.

Looks like a car for Dobie Gillis.

Seeing only the top half of this image, I thought that was Chewbacca gazing at the Van Gogh.

I know that feeling.

The museum fades away, along with 2023, and you’re lost in Arles, on an evening in 1888.

Did not get it from the childhood photo. There was a time when that poster was ubiquitous.

Buddy Holly recalls when you could make your statement in a minute and 16 seconds. Linda and Sly are not far behind.

I think BassetChess must be kind of like CalvinBall, in that there’s a rule keeper who makes it up on the fly, and also arbitrates all changes, exceptions and disputes.

Sure, it can seem a bit one-sided, but think about the simplicity of it all.

No need to learn complicated rules, study game plans, or in this case, read years of chess commentary and strategies.

Everything can be resolved by simply asking Cleo!

Win/(Kind of)Win… er… okay maybe not so much.

I love it so much to find here all those old good songs – so very very good songs – Thank you for posting them! Is it you, nighthawks, who give me so much joy with listening to those songs?

Hi Marge!

Glad to see you here!

I don’t know whether you’ll come back here, but in case you do…

The person who posts the comic also posts the videos on top of the page. That’s usually Nighthawks, like today, except Tuesdays and Thursdays, when StelBel puts up her work, usually basset movie posters, along with her choice of videos.

People(including you) can also post videos in the comments. Nighthawks and StelBel do that too.

Meanwhile, you’re asking Nighthawks a question on the page from Monday, 2 days ago, when the Wednesday strip is already up.

He very seldom goes back even one day to read the comments.

I often go back one day, but not two… This is a coincidence. But I’m glad I found it 😁

Thank you, dear Susan, for your answer – and I am so happy about this coincidence that you were going back two days. I will e-mail you in the next days (due to birthday and so on), have to go offline now and I do not know if I am able to go online the next days. Ciao, sunshine-lady ..I love how you, all the crew of Cleo and Company and all the other people here brighten my day! Thank you so much!

PS: I, too, will post this message on 31. September, so no need to go back to 28. Sept. Oh, here in Germany we already have the first of September – Time is so fast when getting old – and when not getting old, time runs anyway!
