At a stand out 6’7″ tall, with 20 years in the role, plus reruns, a comeback series, and several movies spanning additional decades, it’s kind of hard to erase that image.
No matter what other roles he played, he’ll always be Matt Dillon, even in monster makeup.
Ah, Plods…. I commend you for your restraint, in keeping to a mere mention, and not taking the obvious low road, amongst all the jokes that could have been made about the first one.
James Arness as The Thing from Another World
1 minute and 34 seconds you’ll never see again.
I still see Matt Dillon.

Two wise dogs.

Such a nice design.
I don’t know what kind of lizard it is, but I wish it were a gecko…
you know… so I could caption it “Art Gecko.”
Boo! 😀
…
It almost looks photoshopped.
Osprey.
Magnificent!
From yesterday.
Here’s one for you from 1967.

Didn’t work well for me, but thanks.
Thank you!
I’d never heard of this song…
it’s always possible that I’d heard it, but didn’t know the lyrics or what it was called.
I don’t think it’s gonna be one of my favorites… but at least it’s a Susan song!
About halfway through, it completely changes character, and becomes something weird that doesn’t go at all with the rest.
…
I did remember later that there’s a Crosby, Stills and Nash song, called “Song for Susan”, that IIRC was rather unremarkable as well…
maybe Susan just… sniffle… isn’t a good name for putting in song.
“Looks like i’m losin’ ”
Hmmm, I don’t recall that one showing up in any of my “Seventy Smash Hits Of The Seventys” compilations.
No matter, I’ll pop over to Ultimate Guitar and have a recording by this afternoon.
I remember this 🙂
You are only allowed one section of the paper, Cleo. Other people have to go too.
If that’s what “paper training” is, I’d have to say…. TMI warning! …
Honestly, growing up, everyone in my whole family was paper trained.
In a house with one bathroom, one newspaper, two adults, and three kids…
Wow… an endless battle.
…
Whether in the kitchen, the living room, or outside the bathroom door…
“Who’s got the comics?” “It was my turn!”
“Mommy make him give me the comics!”
“Where’s the front page??”
And either “But I was waiting for that section!” or “But I already read that section!”
….
“Do you have the (fill in the blank) in there?” (I.E. comics, sports page, crossword puzzle, movie listings…. etc)
or more often:
“MY TURN! Stop reading in there!”
…

Seems a little more humane…. er… melonane (?) …than yesterday’s image,
But the watermelons probably still aren’t too happy.
Shoulda trained her with crosswords…
HUMP DAY! Good morning fellow Cleo phans!
That first one might hurt if taken wrong.
Y’all grab some watermelon and go nutz. (((((HuGz!)))))
hump day. WOO HOO!!!
Ah, Plods…. I commend you for your restraint, in keeping to a mere mention, and not taking the obvious low road, amongst all the jokes that could have been made about the first one.
I was sooooooo tempted in the last line to reverse those.
HaHaHa!!
isn’t it every dog daddy’s dream to have a paper-trained dog?
.
Look at that smile.
he sees the guy with the camera as lunch

BUNNY! 😀
AARGH! I didn’t even see the bunny!
Rabbit test to see if she has something in the oven.

THAT is some fine work!
Wow!
I can’t even sharpen one without breaking the tip off.
At the county fair here, a few years ago, a fellow had a display of his pencil lead carvings.
Since then, I’ve looked at some others online.
There’s at least one artist so skilled he has carved a fine chain out of one section of solid lead, like the jade chains from China….
nothing cut apart, each link carved without breaking or separating from the one before.
Łater I’ll try to find a picture. It’s amazing.
I think this is the same one…
He did “cheat” by using a slightly wider pencil… but I think it can be forgiven.
The whole chain is carved from the single lead of that one long pencil.
No part was ever detached…
The wooden outside layer was cut away, and all that’s left intact of the pencil is the stub in his hand.
I would never have the patience for that!
