“How do you guys breathe down there?”

Is there a date on this? (I like Italy’s golf swing!)

It’s hard to read because of poor resolution (my constant lament… Sorry)

But on the cartouche in the upper left corner, it says “Map of Europe for 1870.”

You probably saw, too, that under the title at the top, it says “As seen through French eyes.”

So this must be France under one of its shifting governments looking at all its neighbors with great paranoia.

100-ish years after the French revolution…

50-ish (?) after Napoleon.

Ooh… The Franco Prussian War, maybe?

WIKIPEDIA     on Paul Hadol.
There is a copy of the map in its original French within the article.

I also found this copy of nighthawks posting at the U.S.     “LIBRARY OF CONGRESS”     site.
There is a caption accompanying it,
The resolution is so good that you can read everything on the map.

Thanks, Alexi, and with the caption comes a very good description of the political flexing-of-power of those times.

AI doesn’t know how steam engines go together, or track. Quite funny looking legs, hips, and long arms on the figure too…..

I find it easier to use the zoom function in the Windows menu and reduce the size.
Once you see it, you can easily see it at full size.

Aww, they’re fawning all over that kitty.

Yes, I am ashamed of myself for that.

If you like archeology or quantum physics this is for you.
Did you notice? i said or, not and.
I love it when one thing supports someting entirely different.
We need a name for that.

This is in today’s London “Daily Express.”
It sounds delicious for a cold winter’s day; and good any other time.
I’d use hard cider because like my Rum Ribs recipe the alcohol will tenderize the meat even more.
