coupon? there was other writing on a Popsicle wrapper?except to determine the flavor , I never even paused one time to read anything on a Popsicle wrapper — …I was too busy ripping it off to get to it
Interesting facts, but the guy is nowhere near as funny as he thinks he is, and even bleeped superfluous obscenities simply detract from the presentation.
I used to be able to find Larry Niven’s essay “Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex” online, but alas, no more.
It’s a very funny, but decidedly adult, look at what would happen with the physical part of Superman’s love life.
If you can find a copy, it was in several of his collections, you won’t be disappointed.
I’ve read it. I probably have it in my paperback library. Niven’s the best.
The way Ze presents is kinda his thing. He gets a laugh out of me. And i get to learn something.
Win, win. 🙂
Today’s Songs:
1. ‘American Pie,’ 2. ‘Angie Baby,’ 3. ‘Apache,’ and 4. ‘Aqualung,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe 5. ‘Chicken Drumstick Paprikash (low carb).’
1. I’ve provided a link to an article in ‘The Guardian’ of Tuesday, July 19, 2022 concerning the documentary made about the song’s 50th anniversary. It’s fairly heavy reading, but it’s also full of history.
2. I just found out about an unofficial video made for the ‘Sonny and Cher’ show in 1975. I’ve posted it below. Helen Reddy is known for singing it, but it was composed by the late Alan O’Day who himself charted with his ‘Undercover Angel’ (below) and who also composed ‘The Righteous Brothers’ ‘Rock and Roll Heaven’ (again, below).
3. Composer and band were English writing and playing a song titled after an American Indian tribe. The ‘Incredible Bongo Band’ covered it in 1973, and that cover, by Wikipedia, has been called ‘hip-hop’s national anthem’
; and yes, it’s below too.
4. Inspired by a photograph taken by Ian Anderson’s then wife the English playwright and film maker Jennie Franks. She is also credited as co-writing the lyrics to ‘Aqualung’.
5. I first tasted paprikash when I went to a little delicatessen cum restaurant for lunch one day (sadly, it went out of business shortly thereafter / they were just in the wrong place in a changing neighbourhood). I really enjoyed it so I went to the ‘net when I got home and copied the recipe that was as close to the deli’s as I could find. It’s very different from this one; I put the link to that recipe below. It’s really good to eat.
“They went thataway.”
DZIOB!
Looks like a bald man trying to grow out the fringe and look “hip”.

“Street flute” (in translation from the art site), SAATCHI ART; By: Vladimir Zotov (Russian)
NOSE!
“can you play bird songs, so they come down where I can reach them?”

Does anyone else remember the “popsicle wrapper coupon offers” in the late 50’s/early 60’s?

..
DZIOB!
NOSE!!
“Got your nose!”
….
find the kitty
Easy one…
Just look carefully, row by row, and you can’t miss him.
If you want a little hint that’s not a huge spoiler, but I do suggest trying first without it…
You’ll save time by starting with the bottom rows instead of the top ones.
….
Or if you really want the answer… (But I think you’ll be sorry you didn’t just keep looking)…
He’s the next to the last fully visible creature, in the 4th row up from the bottom.
Yep, an easy one.
Got it.
Just look for the one without the DZIOB!
but, he/she has a NOSE!
No problem.
I zoomed it up, and the kitty jumped right out at me.
some kitties do indeed jump out at you
.
NOSE!
Hoo boy, this must be a really early one.
Not safe for work.
Or around kids.
