Oh… I just realised that you’re probably not familiar with that phrase.
There are lots of quaint sayings in English that aren’t rooted in reality.
Among other non-realistic old expressions like “cute as a button”, “big as a house” or “snug as a bug in a rug”, we say something is “scarce as hen’s teeth.”
I wasn’t actually saying, myself, that chickens don’t have teeth.
I was being facetious, putting a trite, but common, expression into a context that was actually about teeth.
Oh – I am familiar with that saying.
We have enough here in Germany that started out jokingly and became common use.
E.g. “Passt wie die Faust aufs Auge”.
Today’s Songs:
1. ‘Doin’ It Right,’ 2. ‘Don’t Come Around Here No More,’ 3. ‘Don’t Go Breakin’ My Heart,’ and 4. ‘Don’t Let Be Misunderstood,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe 5. Chicken Saltimbocca.’
1. Formed in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1978 and still active with different members. This is the first of two songs in list 2.
2. I’ve posted this before, but it’s still a nice interpretation of ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’.
3. A gentle teasing of Motown duets. Dusty Springfield was supposed to do this, but ultimately did not. ‘The Backstreet Boys’ covered it in 2019; enough said.
4. nighthawks put this up not too long ago, but good music is good music. I just found out ‘The Animals’ were covering Nina Simone (her original version is below / her interpretation is very different from that of ‘The Animals’).
5. Again, a very similar recipe to the previous postings (chicken is coming to an end soon).
There have been several we haven’t mentioned in the past month and a half or so.
We’re not doing birthdays at present.
In case you don’t remember, they’ve all been postponed while we decide what to do, because of StelBel.
….
StelBel is one of my very closest friends.
She and I have shared putting on birthday parties for 11 years, on Ballard Street and then here, communicating several times a week by phone and email.
She has always done the greeting, and several cards while I’ve done the cake and all the invitation emails… plus I had to take over the food when Bev left.
It’s more work than you think, and my heart just isn’t into doing all that right now without her, nor does Nighthawks feel like having them here.
Yes, we all said happy birthday to her… but she can’t actually see it, or even come to this site.
For me that makes the other parties too sad.
…
Besides, I explained to you last year that we haven’t done Dry’s birthday since we moved to this site, because she’s not a regular here.
Dry is a friend but it wouldn’t be fair to other people whose birthdays we don’t do on Cleo for that reason.

Whoa, good camo!

Do you need an open carry permit for those fins?
Fins and rocket flames!
1959, that’s about the time my Dad switched to tax-deductible Caddies, but my Mom loved her Bonnevilles.
The attachment below comes from HERE. I don’t think many pick-ups weigh in at 5,000 pounds today.
Where’s the EPA gallons/mile estimates?

I understand why they don’t put ornaments on their tree.
find a snake
Got it!
Me too.
Same here.
It took me a while, but in my defence, I started searching from the wrong spot!
That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it!
U.S. SUN AND SOLUTION (I didn’t find it)
i’m with you!!!
I like the guy front and center with the big smile.
i liked him, too.
Yeah… and a big snake smile is as rare as hen’s teeth.
Every bird has one teeth – to get out of the eggshell.
They don’t get to keep that tiny tooth…. it falls out, usually within a week of hatching.
And it hardly makes for a big toothy grin 😁
But it’s not rare.
@Tigressy…

Btw I guess you deleted your comment about birthdays?
I was hoping everybody could read my answer, cos it’s something I keep meaning to post.
I dunno why sometimes deleting a comment on WordPress deletes the replies, and sometimes it doesn’t.
I’m going to hazard a guess (“hazard” – get it?) that our snake is right where a snake should be:
You deserve this.

Grazie.
So the snake is any head/neck that does not obviously connect to a shell? Harrumph!
…..and it’s green.
and it has two dots for eyes…..
with those clues , you’ll be well on the way to puzzle-solving satisfaction
Hawks, you really need to start keeping better track of your things. You lose something, like, every day and have to ask us to find it.
Even though Dudas draws animals to look almost alike just to make his puzzles work…
It actually has one other snakey characteristic to distinguish it from the turtles….
A forked tongue.
A bit hard to see cos it almost blends into the lines on the shell behind it.
Such as it is, I found it too.
He has a point.
A curved one.

Maybe by next year the Salvation Air Force will attack, and actually pick pockets.
