But something interesting to me is that they all look like boys… girls didn’t dress like that in 1938… so I wonder why Santa is giving them dolls.
Either little girls in trousers or dolls for boys would be pretty forward thinking in 1938.
In 1934 Helium was a rare commodity. It was only available in quantity in the US where it was considered a strategic resource (none for the German Zeppelins). I am wondering if Mickey is hydrogen filled.
I think I went to the Macy’s Parade in the early 60s. I remember being taken into the city (NYC) for a parade. We lined up on the curb (I think we were right in front). My impression as a tiny tot situated very close to the parade was just lots of legs going by. It’s a very hazy memory.
In my family we almost always had a repeat of Thanksgiving dinner for Christmas…
Our desserts for either were chocolate anyway, so nothing seemed Novemberish.
But I still didn’t get that clue.
Yes that’s a hint I guess, but good luck to whoever uses it.
Before I look at the answers, I want to at least try…
But I have to leave soon, so it has to be….
a fairly quick job….

“While Shepherds washed their socks by night,”
“All watching ITV,”
“The Angel of the Lord came down,”
“And switched to BBC!”
.
For those not in the know, ‘ITV’ & ‘BBC’ were the two main TV Broadcasters at the time here in the UK. the ‘British Broadcasting Corporation’ was/is the non-commercial station(s), and the ‘Independent Television’ channel was/is the commercial one.
At that time we only had three channels here in the UK, BBC 1, and 2, and ITV.
“My Prayer,” composed in 1926 by Georges Boulanger with lyrics added by Jimmy Kennedy in 1939 and first recorded by Glenn Miller and The Ink Spots in 1939, is best known by this version recorded in 1956 by The Platters on Mercury Records reaching #1 on the Billboard Top 100 number-one singles chart. The group was composed of Tony Williams, David Lynch, Paul Robi, Herb Reed, and Zola Taylor.

For myself, I covet that stuffed dog!
If that’s an adoption house then they may save money by dressing everyone the same. Especially at that age. It could also be an “elf uniform”.
Don’t know the episode, but I could imagine this happening if they were locked in the hold and drowned.
Season 4, Episode 2 “The Thirty Fathom Grave”

Again, I couldn’t get that interested in it.
“Five to beam up, Scotty”
..
This is the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for sure, I think it’s the 2013 version (I’ve set the video to start where I came to that conclusion).
,
It might be tasty if it was chocolate, but I probably don’t need that much iron.
BUNNY!
It’s beautiful.
Can I have it?
I guess Happy³ already has first dibs.
It’s ok; I probably couldn’t lift it.
I was thinking that i’d like that in my front yard.

Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor V-1’s will stop Santa on his appointed rounds!
Keep a stiff upper lip and keep on ho-ho-hoing
1940, on Regent Street, in London.
I thought something looked almost sculpted about him, particularly his hands and the drape of his coat.
But it’s just that it’s a b/w photo that’s been colorized, by photographer Tom Marshall, which apparently kind of flattened the shadows.

This looks older because it’s black and white… but it features Big Bird and Garfield, so it’s not ancient history, to all but a few of us😁.
Not exactly recent, either… But 1988.
I never really thought about all the people at the windows or coming out on their balconies at balloon height. Looks like fun.
If you want to see ancient (relatively) history…. Here’s 1934:
I would love to see them put that Mickey in the parade now.
creepy Mickey
Nooo!
I love that Mickey!
Still looking like Steamboat Willie Mickey, before his soon-to-occur retooling.

Strega! You didn’t guess!

The other day he (jokingly) “guessed” Brando from a similarly labeled collage.
LOL

When railroads had magazines.
This was probably left here and there on the train, for passengers to read.
Probably nicer, and not as full of advertising, as the airline magazines on planes.
Just Ouch!
The longer clip shows her using her feet to put her sunglasses on.
I can fall over when leaning against the doorframe when putting my socks on!
Thank you!
I was about to comment “no fair!” cos we didn’t get to see whether she reached them.
