Percolator is a great tune to listen to while watching the fireflies decorate the tree.

Maybe it’s just me, but aren’t Cisco and Pancho looking a little worse for wear in this pic?

I was thinking that too… and then I realised I was getting the Cisco Kid mixed up with Guy Williams, who played Zorro.

I couldn’t remember who actually played the Cisco kid… so I just Googled it.

It turns out that it’s not surprising they look long in the tooth for action heroes…

It was an actor named Duncan Renaldo, and Pancho was played by Leo Carrillo, who’d already had a long career, starting in vaudeville, and then in many movies.

When the series started its 6 year run, Renaldo was already in his late 40’s, and Carrillo was 71!

Not surprising, either, that I don’t remember it well… that was in 1951.

Zorro started after Cisco Kid was finished, in 1957, and Guy Williams was in his 30’s… so there’s almost-but-not-quite a generation gap between the leads.

BTW… Duncan Renaldo was actually Romanian-born(!), though American.

The name Guy Williams sounds American, but it’s a stage name. The actor was of Sicilian descent… his real name was Armando Joseph Catalano.

I was a kid, and saw the Cisco Kid is re-runs, probably around the same time as Zorro. No wonder I get them confused, and never realised it.

I just found out that I was mixing up a few things about their sidekicks.

Leo Carrillo, as Pancho, was the one who faked an over-the-top supposedly “humorous” Mexican accent… he WAS Mexican-American, the only one of the four…

But he was descended from a prominent California family (the oldest building in my city is “the Carrillo adobe”.). His English was quite perfect.

Zorro’s manservant, Bernardo, unlike Perro™‘s trusted aide, Fernando, was mute. I’d forgotten that, too.

It’s late, and I’m sleepy… and a little confused. Sorry.

I hope the joke isn’t that Cleo is using that tree for a… um… for a tree.
If you know what I mean.

Especially not with presents underneath.

I thought she was way more housebroken, maybe even fastidious.
And she’s a girl.

So, who’s having the most fun?? Someone said it was to hide their scent from predators. How many predators does a family dog have?

The dogs are predators. It’s to hide their scent from prey.
Also done to cool off, and perhaps to discourage biting insects.

Cleo was overcome with doggie instincts…… or in-stinks.
