I remember this poor, distressed basset. My sympathies on your plight. Again.

You think you’re playing with me…but with these antennae I’ve read your mind, and I know where you hid the roast…and the goose…and the turkey…and the stuffing…but I won’t touch the stuffing, because I’m a VERY smart dog!!!

Looks very cozy. Everyone snug as a bug in a rug.

She looks like a witch. A very good witch. Maybe she delivers goodies on Halloween and hopes for some in return on Christmas Eve. Maybe she even hopes for a guy who understands and loves her.

I noticed, too, that she appears to be a witch, as do the ladies in the family portraits.

Hopefully good witches, like Glinda.

I thought she was alone, but I’m noticing clues that there may be someone else…

She’s drinking what looks like cocoa, and the tea is poured into a cup too far for both to be hers.

Besides, two stockings are hung on the mantel.

The second pile of books near the couch could be hers, but perhaps someone else is only temporarily out of his/her seat.

Unless the little dog drinks tea and hangs a Christmas stocking, she may have already found love.

Good catches. If the dog is her familiar, then it may also take human form sometimes. If she is a not-so-sweet witch, the dog may be a boyfriend temporarily in “time-out”. Either way, the Collie may be the “other person”.

I agree, Susan. She has that bemused smile and a glimmer in her eyes that speaks that she is happily contemplating her life choices, and she is most satisfied. Yes, she has found love, and life is truly wonderful, and she awaits in anticipation for her love’s return.

It’s a collie. Of course she’s a good witch.

There is also a bird flying above her head. What could that mean?

Appears to be a winged silver ornament. Confirmation that she is a witch.

Like any good comedian, find the absurdity in life and point it out. Presto, humor.

I’m not too good a climbing trees either…afraid of heights and edges. That’s why I hire somebody to trim my trees.

The StarTrek that I watch on TV has cycled the Picard series back to its beginning. Counsellor Troy in a mini, very disconcerting!

Well, quit going to sleep with our nose against the pillow. Especially when your left leg keeps twitching. Kiki is starting to think you’re possessed!

The Four (Snowy) Bassets, irrepressible young dogs who would go on to transform much of 20th century popular culture. No one could have foreseen their sustained influence.

These bassets are dressing up like Santa Claus for Christmas so you don’t see the taco carts that they stole (and blamed poor innocent Cleo, of course):

Wow…. the Bassets’ Christmas album!

I haven’t heard it in ages… And in fact not everyone even knows about it.

Now I’m going to be howling Christmas music for days… but ’tis the season, isn’t it. It feels impossible that in six days it’ll be Christmas.

Don’t they look great? Always so dapper then in their matching outfits. Except for the hats, of course.

Who were those human guys who always imitated them… Buggles? Bees?

Oh yeah… it says right there: “Beatles”. They can’t howl, and they can’t even spell!

I don’t think it was even snowing on their cover version…

I should say, on the cover of their cover version of The Bassets.

Hard as some of us have tried, we can’t post real Bassets videos on a human website … or any real canine copyright ones.

That are only available on BassetTube, and we can’t post there or copy the URLs.

I think it’s for copyright protection, after so many human bands have copied them.

We can find some actual “Beatles”(sic) music…

It’s not the Bassets, but it’s kinda nice.

Even they know they’re not the Bassets… but they do what they can.

Oh! My old saved links to some Beatles Christmas music, and also the newer links I found on YouTube, have all so far been blocked by Apple Corps on copyright grounds.

Here’s a silly bit recorded for their fan club in 1968 … The older ones are among the blocked.
