will it be Paris? Or a five dollar Cleveland bus pass?
And do they have to send in a stamped, self-addressed envelope, or even a small payment, just to find out?
…
I don’t know whether it’s a state law or federal, but here, they have to put the odds on the back of every ticket, or in the fine print online —
including whether the top prizes are part of a multi-state draw… so there might be one trip to Paris per 17,000,000 entrants.
Even then… it might be one where the trip itself is free, IF you pay outrageous “fees” … bogus airport and baggage fees, hotel reservation fees, etc… hundreds of dollars.
…
These days some contests are online, which requires no monetary outlay, but subjecting your email address, phone number, and sometimes mailing address to even more spammers and hucksters.
I never fill out those coupons to win a “free” Hawaiian or Vegas vacation, or a cruise, because the prizes are such scams, on top of the flood of spam they unleash.
…
Three of my elderly neighbors, back in the 80’s and 90’s, used to enter every contest, which brought them more and more “opportunities” to enter others.
I showed them how to read the odds… they were disappointed, but two stopped entering.
…
The third was an actual “Okie”, a one-time refugee from the Dust Bowl, by then in her 90’s.
She kept on paying two or three dollars each time to enter the next levels of a whole series of different drawings.
…
The most odious were from Oral Roberts and his so-called University.
Her son eventually discovered that over time, she’d sent them hundreds of dollars… buying fake “Indian” crafts, made of plastic, to support their missions,
and a card to carry in her wallet that promised her “faith-based treatments” at the Oral Roberts Hospital back in Oklahoma, or someplace else she couldn’t get to.
She believed they were holding a place for her in Heaven.
I would get contest flyers with “you definitely won one of these trips”. Bring the junk mail down to our dealership to discover which trip you won. Other times they have a scratch off to see which of 4 fabulous and 1 lame prize you may have won. I always got the “all 5” under the scratch-off. Of course the fluff makes it sound like you DID win. Again, you have to bring the brochure to the dealership to find out.

If the cats like it, he’s gotta be good.
definitely!
wow! what an audience!
Love it!
The real Cat Stephens?
,
Camera distortion.
Maybe… but Borzois do have amazing noses.
Pics of one named “Eris” apparently went viral because his muzzle is a foot long.
The rare anteaterhound.

The vintage clothing store I owned with my ex-husband in San Francisco was called “Hot Stuff.”
We liked the vintage sound of the phrase, and as wholesalers first, had joked about finally being hot stuff when we opened our own store.
….
Customers constantly asked us whether it had anything to do with this comic book character. Aaaagh.
…
On another note… we sold outfits to the Pointer Sisters when they were starting out, and wore actual vintage clothes.
I’m sure other vintage dealers did too, so it’s not a big claim to fame… but they gave us tickets to one of their first big shows.
They were sisters in real life… and really nice!
When they got famous, their clothes were, of course, new, and designed for their act.
Interesting!
Is it stoping at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
Gee, I wonder which one they’ll “win”….

I have no family-friendly words for that.

Same here.
A friend and I once scratched off two or three dozen flyers thrown in the trash next to a bank of mail boxes…
All “possibly won” the same prizes and had the same “unique” code number you were supposed to match at the dealership to determine your actual prize.
Good videos!

Sacher Torte
dinner tonight?
to repeat Clara’s famous words…..
”how slight?”
Well, there is a huge chance you didn’t win one of the first two.
The Pointer sisters were tremendous.
