My version of “The Pinball Wizard”, posted at the top, is supposed to be all glitter and originally, it posted that way…..then, it stopped working. I re-did the page FOUR times, but each time, was unsuccessful in getting the glitter engines to work. Now, I just need to take a break, since nothing worked right tonight.
Here is the glittered version:
(I REMOVED THE POSTER IMAGE SINCE THE ONE ON TOP IS NOW WORKING FINE.)
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the top one will magically start working again like it did originally. We’ll find out.
StelBel, I don’t know if you can put it up top, but I do know that if you remove the ● from the below and close it up to ht…Pinball-Wizard…gif and replace the above or put it in a separate comment box, it will come right up large as life at Intrinsic size: 650 × 1170 px . By contrast your static top post is Intrinsic size: 569 × 1024 px and your active glitter post is Intrinsic size: 444 × 800 px
I appreciate your checking it out and the suggestion that you made. The way we post our images on the top is directly from our computer files and not by using URLs. And, it was working when I initially posted it, and stopped about 15-20 minutes later. I’m not sure what that means, exactly, but I’m tempted to believe that the problem is from WordPress (when in doubt, blame WordPress!!).
For now, I’ll leave things as they are, and I’ll check in with Nighthawks later in the morning. Thanks again for taking the time to research it tonight. Much appreciated!
🙂
(BTW, I’m actually OK with the size that the poster is in the comment box. I don’t think it needs to be any bigger in the comments.)
Awesome poster, Stel! Both glittery and non-glittery versions. All the add-on clips are fun too! I loved the Who, especially when they were on first.
The Who are coming tp Seattle in October and I just scored tickets, front row on an upper level. My daughter thinks I will not be able to get to my seats, as the new Climate Pledge Arena is huge, but we shall see. I have 8 months to get fit!
Please give us a full report when you’ve seen the concert. 🙂 Meanwhile, there may be a bit of planning you’ll have to do, but upper level access doesn’t really seem to be a problem. The attachment comes from the CLIMATE PLEDGE ARENA — PLAN YOUR TRIP section of its website.
There are 53 other topics covered at the link above.
Yes, Boris the Spider is a good one! Thanks for all the research Alexi, and the link to the “Plan your trip” page. The acoustics are supposed to be excellent. My daughter works for Live Nation and she gave me the link as soon as tickets came out. She advised against floor seating because everyone will be standing.
I’m one of the VERY few who have never listened to The Who, or Pinball Wizard…….. my taste is in Classical or Show tunes or film scores. But, your poster shows a lot of work on your part, Miss Stel. Especially all those sparklies!
You’re too kind, ML! I’ll get back to doing some Show Tunes/Movie scores/Classical stuff. Not to worry! This one had been on my schedule to do since before Christmas (just ask Nighthawks! I was stuck on it forever and all I did was complain about it!).
One more post tonight, and then I’m gone until tomorrow.
On the bright side of things:
This week, McDonald’s has once again brought back its $1.00-any-size-coffee promotion so my coffees will cost only $1.05 tax in for a while (I’ve never been able to keep track of the length of time the promotion lasts, it seems to vary at whim).
In other news, Alberta has major changes coming to its Mundane (isn’t it by now?) Corona virus protocols. See this CBC LINK if you’re at all interested (Jason Kenney, our premiere, is already scrambling for cover from the criticisms of those with brains — whose advice he didn’t listen to).
And finally, because it’s Superbowl week here’s something I’ve collected and edited together from the ‘net. The accuracy of the figures if not exact is, I think, well within “acceptable.” The calculated answer is just because the computer calculator solved the problem that way. 1.42 Billion Chicken Wings eaten during 2021 Super Bowl 96.4 million viewers 2021 Super Bowl 7.3651452282157676348547717842324 wings per person in 2021
And that’s why wings have gone from being the cheapest part of the chicken to one of the most expensive! Me, I buy the whole darn bird and butcher it myself. One price for all the parts, plus I get some delicious stock to go with.
And my butcher’s loose parts are the smallest of chicken breasts (5-6 oz which is the size they normally were 20-30 years ago)and the largest leg quarters (16-20 oz). Asked about that and it seems that restaurants want big breasts and small leg quarters, so he sells the leftover unmatched parts in the shop.
I saw it, briefly, when it wasn’t…
Then my internet went out, before I could say anything, and only just came back… with the glitter magically restored
Good thing, too…. I mean, what other way can you look properly at Elhound John? Or Rodger Dogtree, either.
Thanks for your persistence, Stel!
It looks beautiful!
…
The coming of “Tommy”, the original album of the rock opera, by The Who, felt like a major event in my life…
It was half a dozen years before this film version.
I’d just started seeing my soon-to-be, but not much later, ex, husband, at the very start of our 25-year friendship and business partnership… a story waaay too complicated for here….
I can’t say it’s my favorite music ever… but hearing any of it will forever evoke that time and place, when my whole world was changing.
…
We were very young… It was a double album, so a big expense to either of us, at the time…
But he bought it, and we played it endlessly… over and over, absorbed in not only the music, but the lyrics, and the story, itself.
It wove pictures, created fantastic characters, told an absorbing tale in the way no previous rock album had ever attempted.
I’ve forgotten some, but at that time, I think I knew every word to every song.
I can’t say I could ever sing any of them…. people run away if any member of the Sunshine family even tries to sing “Happy Birthday”… But the music ran through my day like a whole albumful of earworms.
…
Who could forget the trials of that poor young boy, Tommy, struck blind, deaf and mute by witnessing things his mind wouldn’t accept… then abused by relatives and others… “I know you can’t see or hear me, as I fiddle about”... pushed into withdrawal from the world…
Until he discovers pinball… whereupon “He plays by intuition“….and becomes the best player ever.
…
So I have to admit, when the movie came out, I didn’t want to see it.
They had added so many characters, erasing my mental imagery… Much as I loved Elhound John, and Teeny Terrier, and all… they were supposed to be imaginary.
But over the years, I’ve watched many clips, and enjoyed them… and wanted to see the whole thing, but it wasn’t available.
Oh, the memories, huh? I’ve had earworms goin’ on in my head since last night!!! I, too, knew all the lyrics by heart and even now, most of them come back to me.
Having seen the film and listened to the (double) album, I MUCH prefer the album. Ken Russell, as usual, went way over the top with his imagery. There are some great individual moments in the film; Tina Turner steals the show as the Acid Queen, and Keith Moon is hilarious as Uncle Ernie. But Oliver Reed is utterly tone deaf; can’t sing a note. And Ann Margaret is mostly just embarrassing.
Album-wise, Roger Daltrey is one of the best singers in rock & roll, and John Entwhistle was an absolute monster bass player. Keith Moon was, as someone once put it, on a never ending quest to “hit all the drums at once.” And of course, Pete Townshend wrote the whole thing.

Well, then…..it’s a good thing it fixed itself!
I just re-posted it at a very slightly smaller size and it seems to be working A-OK now. Whatever glitch there was seems to be gone now.
It’s beautiful
Thanks!!

I just turned on the Olympics and there is Elton again, singing Rocket Man to Nathan Chen’s free skate! Fantastic!
Oh, how I envy you!! That’ll be awesome! Looking forward to a few photos from that event!

Wow… a new poster! And it’s “Tommy“!!
Right now, it’s as glittery as glittery can be!

Montana Lady, it’s not too late!

I’m in the same boat, I never wanted to see the film version, but I have seen the clips. I’ll come!
I like many of the pre-Tommy songs, like My Generation, Happy Jack, Boris the Spider.
Me too.

Thanks for that laugh! What is this thing??
That’s what he wants to know!
cream cheese brownies
Now that is something I’d like!
In that case, I’d recommend “Donauwelle”.
SPARKLIES!!
Today a different who… by our very own glitter master Stel.
Good morning poster phans.
Y’all have a blessed day. (((((HuGz!)))))
National Umbrella Day and we don’t need one here, thankfully……maybe Monday, though.
There’s a slight chance of snow tomorrow. Just when everything was starting to melt.
60s today, tomorrow and Saturday. Chance of snow on Sunday.
Captain Furtastic!
Good one!
That is a phenomenal poster! I only hope no one here is epileptic. 🤩 😳 😱 🤪 😵 😖
I got a kick out of the analog pinball machines being played by Tommy & the Wizard. Scores in four figures!
