Cameras had wide lenses.. great resolution but sloooow film.

Wouldn’t want Lady Norman to appear to wobble, would we.

Or worse… fall, and soil her beautiful velvet coat.

At least I hope she’s not “riding” with the kickstand down.

The following caption:….
Lady Norman riding her Autoped (motorized scooter) 1916
….comes from      HERE.

Edited in at 22:11 E.S.T..

A “raw” U.R.L. to more about the Autoped. That looks like the gasoline version said to be capable of 35 miles per hour.

I guess so. When I saw her she was standing and kicking at a Ballard Street dog. (Scooter attacking a scooter?)

The picture is titled: “Table in the Corner
In the window     “L’Ami”     translates as “The Friend.”

Mysterious interior… a space so narrow that a door almost hits their table when it opens…

The restaurant name (one presumes?) painted on the inside of the window…

and shadows so long it must be a very late sunset… like, I dunno, 14pm.

Here is a page that has all the latin names used at the beginning of the toon.
If you love wordplay you have got to read it. That opening sequence and the names were my favorite part.

Looks like an official Wile E. Style sheet. Doesn’t make him easy to draw, though.

I always learn something from Pete Beard’s videos.

Given what YouTube guidelines permitted Pete Beard to post at the 6 minutes 51 second mark from Charles Martin’s “Mascarades et Amusettes” I just had to find out what the constraints did not allow.

The full twelve plates of the illustrations are      DEPICTED HERE.     They are definitely not suitable for children; and adults take heed, they are graphic (Martin’s titles for them, in translation, are here too).

When has Cleo ever done anything “like everybody else?”

She doesn’t do things like other people… and especially not like other dogs.

Do other dogs dunk their donuts at all?

In fact… when are other dogs even allowed to have donuts?

….

How many dogs are allowed to set up a ladder in the living room, or make a pot of coffee?

And she doesn’t even have to pour a cup for her so-called “master“…

Who is more like the servant, considering which of them will be cleaning up that mess.

Cleo lives a privileged life.

I’d even say a “spoiled” life…but I won’t say that.

She might not like it…. and …well… I hear she has a bazooka.

Listening to Dean Martin… well, probably those lyrics….

made this go through my mind instead.

I dunno… it’s 3 in the morning. Maybe that’s just more of a Eurythmics kind of hour?

….

The main theme by the cover-band at my niece’s and nil’s wedding party.
I still have the LP from decades before…and know the lyrics by heart (not too complicated in this case).

I thought that the Danube was blue

Or if you are a Spike Jones fan, The Danube isn’t blue, it’s green.

Sinatra once said that he envied Martin, because he was a natural. Dean didn’t have to have a lot practice. A bunch of his stuff was recorded in one sitting.
