I was thinking that too, at first… But I looked it up. It’s not a private zoo, just privately owned…
Meaning it’s a for-profit enterprise, held by private owners, and open to the ticket-buying public.
…
Public zoos, by contrast, may be city-owned, or otherwise government-supported, and are generally non profit, .
The better ones, or these days probably most of them, have high standards for animal care, and may be involved in education and research.
…
Private zoos are sometimes like that, but sometimes barely escape regulators, with questionable but profitable practices.
This particular zoo has drawn ire from more reputable institutions because they mate so many pairs of white animals, to get their popular white offspring.
They have white lions, tigers, and ligers (½ each lion and tiger)… And even a liliger (¾ lion, ¼ tiger).
That’s considered unhealthy for the bloodlines of their species due to the severe inbreeding necessary.
It is by U.K. digital artist Matt Dixon for sure, and it appears to be a version of his work “The Artist”(I’ve found this same work with different backgrounds).
Funny, I know I saw every episode, but while I remember so many other childhood programs and Disney productions, I barely remember a thing about Spin and Marty.
The setting was a ranch. Tim Considine, aka Spin, went on to other things that I kind of remember… And Annette Funicello was in this too. But that’s about it.
that is exactly my experience with this particular Mickey Mouse show ‘Spin-off’–it was boring to me-
—mostly I was just waiting for it to be over with so the next part of the MMS to come on.
Here’s WIKIPEDIA on “Spin and Marty”. By the article, Annette Funicello joined the cast in its second season.
I didn’t know this show even existed until today.
If you Google YouTube: “Spin and Marty” you’ll come up with some episodes.
we just finished watching all the episodes of the original ‘spin and marty’. it’s on disney+. the show was 11 minutes long, and was part of the mickey mouse club. i enjoyed seeing it after all these years!
yes! the Mickey Mouse Club!—I remembered it wrong, that it was part of the
Sunday night ‘Disneyland’ program, which later became ‘Disney’s wonderful world of color’
My brother had one for years, but not because of Spin and Marty…
It was in the 1960’s, and that series was over by then.
Then in his senior year of high school, much to my father’s ire, he went from a flat top stuck up in front with butch wax, to shaggy collar length hair.
Good evening, Cleofolk and Puzzle People…and dogwalkers everywhere…
Here we are in what looks to be a cold day in New York City’s Central Park, for another canine-filled New Yorker cover puzzle, once again twinned-but-not-quite by StelBel.
Really cute dogs!
There are nine differences between the panels… OK, get sniffing!
Then you can come back here and compare with what I’ve dug up…
by clicking HERE!
Give yourself a MilkBone if you got all nine.
If you make puppydog eyes, even seven.
Or you can wait and see whether Nighthawks posts any treats you prefer.
Me, I’m holding out for one of those cream cheese brownies.from last night.
For future reference: if you find identical differences on a PAIR of items (eyes, ears, feet, shoes, bicycle wheels, etc, etc….), they should be considered as ONE difference! Today, I changed the blades on a pair of skates in an identical way (i.e. from one blade to two blades on both). That should be considered as ONE difference, just as changing 2 brown eyes to 2 blue eyes would be ONE difference.
When my sister and I were very small, little girls winter coats… not jackets for playing in the snow, but dressy coats…. often came with a matching muff (and leggings, and sometimes a hat as well).
I also had one made of white rabbit fur, that came in a set with a matching collar and I think mittens.
I loved the collar because it had a string to tie in a bow, with big furry pompoms hanging from it.
I don’t think we used the muffs as intended, to keep our hands warm, cos who wants to keep her hands together and still….
But the bunny one had a zipper pocket inside… a “secret” purse.
…
And yeah, I think muffs for grown women mostly disappeared almost a hundred years ago.
Susan said to give ourselves a Milk-Bone® if we get all nine.
I’d rather make some of Chances dog biscuits (sic) — (see attachment), from STELBEL’S RECIPE PAGE.
Got all nine but I’ll pass on the MilkBone; gonna have bran flakes instead in a few minutes…
With 3 cat overlords in the house, no chance on a doggie coming by…
Whoa! I got all nine today. Had to take a second look for the 9th one, but found it! I don’t have any MilkBones, unfortunately. I will take a Peppermint Patty, though ~ love those!
I think I have devised a foolproof method for identifying that hard-to-find ninth difference. There is some schmutz on my screen that typically appears on only one of the two images. Problem solved!
Usually the first thing to do when you wonder about a missing commenter on GoComics is Google “GoComics theirname”. Eg “GoComics Nightgaunt.”
Usually you’ll find their profile page in the results.
The problem is that you need to be able to spell it correctly… Near misses usually don’t work.
Meanwhile… Some people get banned and never allowed back.
Some get to come back with a warning, and later may get permanently banned. That happened to my friend Dogsniff.
But there are some who seem to go back and forth through the GoComics swinging door over and over, and whether or not I agree with the reasons for their expulsion, I don’t know why only those few are allowed so many chances.
Nightgaunt is definitely on that list, along with Guido, and a few others.
.
This one’s not on a leash in Central Park.
NOT like seeing a St. Bernard with a flask of brandy around its neck running toward you.

privately owned zoo? holy-moly!

I love these robot pictures.
me, too…

Henri Matisse
There is more than one meaning to “still life.”
,,
Supposedly makes the ladies love to run their fingers through your hair.
Yuck.
i’m surprised his comb isn’t all yucky! but wait. he hasn’t used the comb yet….
Kookie, kookie, lend me your comb! I remember this…oy
i used to watch this while babysitting. only a few folks came home before the show ended. keeping me in suspence forever.
Do they still sell this? I could use some fun in my life.
Spin and Marty
Funny, I know I saw every episode, but while I remember so many other childhood programs and Disney productions, I barely remember a thing about Spin and Marty.
The setting was a ranch. Tim Considine, aka Spin, went on to other things that I kind of remember… And Annette Funicello was in this too. But that’s about it.
I remember that the butler found a white striped snipe.
I believe there were two runs of Spin and Marty. It was the second one that had Annette Funicello in it, along with other Mouseketeers.
that is exactly my experience with this particular Mickey Mouse show ‘Spin-off’–it was boring to me-
—mostly I was just waiting for it to be over with so the next part of the MMS to come on.
Oh, does that bring back memories, I loved that show!

spin’s hairdo was also quite popular.. when MMM and i met he had a flt top too.
My brother had one for years, but not because of Spin and Marty…
It was in the 1960’s, and that series was over by then.
Then in his senior year of high school, much to my father’s ire, he went from a flat top stuck up in front with butch wax, to shaggy collar length hair.
The times, they were a’changing.
As kids every summer we got a buzz cut with a wax front. On my last visit to the dermatologist he zapped 14 precancers on my head.
I think I had a couple of Spin and Marty comic books. I know I’ve still got the two Disney Hardy Boys comics!
I’ve got two.
Good night.
don’t feel bad. i only got 3. i have to remember to use my reading glasses.
Thanks, both of you — I feel better for only getting eight (in two days…)

I found eight.
Just to understand….
Are you saying the change to one skate seems to be a difference and the same exact change to the other one looks more like a glitch, i.e. accidental?
As I’ve said, I don’t “rule” on glitch vs. difference, though I think it would be rather odd to do one on purpose and the other not.
And I can say that both skates are part of one difference, anyway.
…
Whether you counted one of them or both, the there are still 8 other differences that I circled in the scene, to make nine.
Are you perhaps missing one of those?
My bad – splitting headache.
No; I’ve got the others. This was the one that puzzled (pardon the pun) me. But I see it now.
I agree. I missed that too. Differences like that open the door to the rest of us finding #10 & #11 in future puzzles.
For future reference: if you find identical differences on a PAIR of items (eyes, ears, feet, shoes, bicycle wheels, etc, etc….), they should be considered as ONE difference! I got all nine this week.
And just for the record, I have never seen a woman using a muff
When my sister and I were very small, little girls winter coats… not jackets for playing in the snow, but dressy coats…. often came with a matching muff (and leggings, and sometimes a hat as well).
I also had one made of white rabbit fur, that came in a set with a matching collar and I think mittens.

Have two… They’re small.
wow, I actually found all nine rather quickly and in one time through!
I found all nine.
I think I have devised a foolproof method for identifying that hard-to-find ninth difference. There is some schmutz on my screen that typically appears on only one of the two images. Problem solved!
But how will I know where it is, so I can circle it for you?
curse the schmutz!
Extra 3:
On the left is what I first see, on the right is what appears when I click on the red play arrow.
And the first in a list of videos that pops up when I press the grey button:
yeah, my bad—I forgot to replace that last night—
it’s been replaced
Fixed now.
Thanks.
Edited in at 08:34 hrs. E.S.T..
I had to quit at the 6 minute 32 second mark; there’s only so much “cuteness” I can take in a day.
yeah, 9 minutes is kinda long for posting here, but as you did, bailing
out at anytime is always an option
that is, unless you’re over the ocean
happy birthday, Patty!
Extra one:
As of October of last year, Toni Tennille was STILL ACTIVE.
Does anyone know what happened to Knight Gaunt? He always posts and haven’t seen him for about a week or so.?? ☹️
Maybe banned again. Wouldn’t be the first time.
Profile page: https://www.gocomics.com/profile/1358577
Must have been. His profile shows very recent comments on Agnes, but they do not appear below the actual comic.

Wow! I had forgotten all about Dogsniff. Always fun to read his comments.
<search term> site:<site> usually works fine even with not completely accurate spelling.
night gaunt site:gocomics.com worked nicely.
Either works with the term as one word or two.
I used to use the “site:” instruction, but at some point Google started to also accept more natural language in search.
Once I found that it works for GoComics, I just find the quick way easier to type.
Google doesn’t care so much about spaces, and ignores capitalization.
I only meant that spelling it “Knight” is what might make it fail.
