The guy seated in front of me in high school was named Angel. He got teased a lot. I still remember his majestic name, Angel Mario Jose Peralta de Garcia. You were a good guy. Angel.
The Angels I’ve known in real life have been Hispanic, and pronounced it an-‘Gel, with a hard G, as in “good”.
But when I was a teenager I loved Thomas Hardy novels, and the putative hero of “Tess of the D’Urbervilles” is named Angel…. Angel Clare.
I loved his name, and really wanted to like him the way it was intended in Victorian times, but he priggishly rejects Tess when he learns of her unfortunate past… which was understandable then, but not today.
While he eventually forgives her for things that were not her fault anyway, it’s too late, and I never could forgive him.
But I’m really not sure I can see “The Bassets” again.
It was much too scary the first time!
I get the chills even thinking about it…. brrrrr…
…
In the years since it was made, Yippi Houndron has said in interviews that she was terrified, herself…..
especially after some live bassets were used in a scene where she was promised they’d all be mechanical.
Hitchdog also kept her chained up, away from the other cast members.
Recently, no longer afraid of his insinuation of damage to her career, she has revealed various details about his bullying and intimidation of her…..
Including other scary things he did…. even sniffing her inappropriately, in spite of having a devoted mate of his own.
We’ll never know the whole truth.
….
I do believe the story, though, that she once barked to an interviewer, “He’s a dog! ”
Just look at him….
What jowls. He looks like he could be part bulldog!
I don’t think he is, cos he’s a famous basset director….. but his face sure looks intimidating, doesn’t it!
….
Anyhow… yes, there was a human movie, too…
Lacking any fearsome basset hounds, for some inexplicable reason, they made it with birds.
BIRDS.
What a strange choice!
How can a bird possibly match a basset in scare power?
It can’t.
…..
I did find a weird image made for the human/bird version….
Maybe trying to up the fear quotient, since the film lacked the teeth and jaws that make angry bassets so terrifying….
to say nothing of their sheer size advantage over birds.
Can you imagine if those were bassets in that cage?
I’ve removed posts and images. I had to leave the site and comeback to do it.
It’s a weird site, though. Things that work for one person don’t always work for others, and things that work one time, don’t work the next.

“Yes; I’m a direct descendant of Droopy.
You know what? – I am the hero…”

Here’s where it is.
Living expense are very steep there.
Rents are sky high… And the cost of groceries is stratospheric!
Parking is imposible.
There are private lots, but the fees are on a sliding scale.
None of the kids own balls (or at least not for long).
I google Earthed it and the aerial phot makes look steeper than it really is.
Great idea. Did you try street view? It’s incredible!
,
Huh. Really?
I’ve heard of tortoiseshell cats, but I was picturing something quite different.

I think that someone already said it. G could be just about anything…
Washington D.C. 1901
Lucille “Speedy” Johnson, almost caught on camera while crossing Main Street.
I’ve never had one.
Nor have I.
About as much related as a chain is to a cane.
Or different cranes – migrating here from Spain or construction sites.
Yes but they’re spelled the same.

“Engel” in German – pronounced similar to “angle”.
Is Engel used for a first name?
Engelhard is.
Eek… it’s another menacing poster from StelBel.

I don’t think it could be done.

??
Can’t you see mine?
When I first posted it, I hadn’t realized the image was a webp file, and WordPress only shows those as a link.
Postimage wouldn’t let me change the name or extension.
They always give it the same name even if you change it, so I found a different file altogether and edited my post
But AFAIK I got it fixed long before you posted this, unless you did it in the first 20 minutes or so it was up!
I posted mine one minute before you edited yours – and it’s not possible to delete my posting. I’ve tried immediately.
Whew… it’s fine.
The timing was so unlikely, but it happens.
I was afraid it meant no one could see mine, even after I did all that.
I’ve removed posts and images. I had to leave the site and comeback to do it.
