I went looking for two songs:
One by Loretta Lynn, and one by Willie Nelson that from my scanty knowledge were funny; they weren’t (well done, but more “activism” than “comical”).
As a serendipitous find I found this Jim Croce recording explaining, and singing, “Bad Bad Leroy Brown.”
I think you’ll like it.
….to an article (3 1/2 minute read) about the history of the blimps (Charles Goodyear came upon the process for vulcanizing rubber but never made a penny from his discovery).
Aside from the picture link of Charles Goodyear, Giulio Romano’s painting (truncated) of “The Old Woman and Vulcan”, a U.S. Navy blimp, and one of the modern day Goodyear blimps appear in the article.
Two facts that appear in the list at the bottom of the article
… the company reports that a blimp is shot at about 20 times a year.
The word blimp is credited to Lt. A. D. Cunningham of Britain’s Royal Navy Air Service. In 1915 he whimsically flicked his thumb against the inflated wall of an airship and imitated the sound it made: “Blimp!”
My mom’s fatal accident was 21 years ago today. Over four weeks in a coma (brain-dead) afterwards because my late brother (lawyer) wanted it to be “fool-proof”.
Meanwhile – who visited her every day and took care of our terminally ill sister the whole time and years afterwards? Hint: Not him.
It wasn’t my intention to advise forgetting your Mom. I’m sorry that you apparently misunderstood that. I only meant that I hope you are able to forgive your brother and move on from those negative feelings.
I, too, dream often of my parents and my husband. I miss them all so much…..
My old gentleman died yesterday.
His liver was full of cancers.
He was 81. A retired farmer and in his youth he played for the Giants in San Francisco. He told me that the first time he showed up to spring training he was picked up at the airport by Willy Mays.
Old gent had some stories.
…
Sick? Ill? (“marid”; Maltese)
Get well!
Hah! Never noticed it last night! Thanks!
New Orleans, 1900
Extra two; Louis Armstrong
The lady is Jewel Brown.
Still with us at age 85.
For a moment i thought that you were talking about this Brown.
Both are great.

That’s a good site. All through the 1980s, I went to Mardi Gras every year (visited friends who lived in New Orleans at the time). Good times!!!

i can’t believe Ash Wednesday is tomorrow! i’m homebound and maybe that’s one of the things home care can bring up.
A YouTube video on the peeling step.
Leave it at at least luke warm.
You’re way too early. Enjoy Mardi Gras while it lasts.

They say that time heals. I hope that at some point, that proves true for you. ♥
Thank you, but no.
I dream of my Mom quite often. She wasn’t perfect, but I still miss her and am happy every time I see her… (sob)
I agree, Tigressy. Some things are unforgivable. And there comes a time when you say to yourself “To let go, and to let God”.

No; I am sorry. I should have known better.
And today, I’m sick and have a splitting headache…

You have obviously been hit hard; so again, take care of yourself.
Keep telling all of them to write down their stories.
It’s history!
Take care of yourself.
So sorry for your loss, Happy…
