It came down on an ejected cover so we didn’t get any science from that instrument.
My search results said this is an illustration from the medieval French “Livre de chasse” (Book of the Hunt).
But most gave no date and called it anonymous.

I have long thought that, like the people in charge of governments, the people in charge of the mob never give up a source of revenue.
Maybe cos it’s an English recipe and they’re iffy about peanut butter… I estimate that 50 grams of it is less than 1/4 cup. You’d hardly taste it.
PB cookies need at least 3\4 U.S. cup, and most recipes have a whole cup!
And much less flour. Some have none. I’d say 100 gm is more than enough. The sugar and butter seem ok with I cup PB…. Except we don’t have golden (or any) caster sugar. Use white or brown.
I personally don’t like raspberry jam…. But I recently discovered Smuckers cherry preserves, which would be great!
