I kind of think they look like the creature-from-the-black-lagoon.
Julia Adams has been “enhanced”.

wasn’t this clint eastwood’s big uncredited film debut?

Another magnified Hollywood legend.

I’d heard that too, so I just looked it up, and found two other actors credited…

One in Hollywood for the “dry” scenes, and another in Florida for underwater.

Digging further, I discovered that Eastwood was in the sequel… “Revenge of The Creature…”

He didn’t play the creature, though…. He had a much smaller part, but visible.

From Wikipedia:

Revenge of the Creature marks the screen debut of Clint Eastwood, who appears uncredited as a lab technician named Jennings early in the story. He is shown having a discussion with Professor Ferguson, accusing a test subject cat of eating a lab rat, only to Cfind the rat in his lab coat pocket.”

Another “baking powder” powered toy…

……

I think they probably mean baking soda, but who knows.

Fill the base, which has a metal cap… water seeps in and makes it bubble, so it rises.

At the surface, it tips over, releasing the bubble… so it sinks.

Oooh!

BTW… you get one frogman FREE in the box. But if you want the set of three, you’d better pony up a quarter, buddy.

Those were the days when you could cut out the little form from the box, fill it out, and drop it it the mail with a quarter taped to it, and expect it to arrive, quarter intact, in Battle Creek.

It could be that the visiblle quarter was why some were never delivered but I prefer to think not.

Baking powder also contains some acid which helps the release of carbon dioxide.

Sorry, I accidentally posted that before I was finished, and I was editing when you replied.

And true, but I’ve seen loads of things that run on baking soda, which was and is very cheap and simple.

There are so many different formulations of baking powder, it would be inconsistent, and a lot more expensive, for kids in the 50’s.

Mom would be happy to give you a nickel box of baking soda, but not her precious baking powder, especially if you might accidentally get it wet.

“Tribilin” appears to be Goofy’s name in Colombia.

This is a Colombian comic book!

“Improved!”

Well, I’d say it had nowhere to go but up, before and even after.

AUV: A(utonomous) U(nderwater) V(ehicle).

A     LINK     to the Wikipedia article on Ed Ricketts for whom the R(emotely) O(perated) V(ehicle) “Doc Ricketts” (appearing at 1:07 in the video) was named.
Ed Ricketts did not have a doctorate, or indeed any university degree; the “Doc” part comes from being the inspiration for the character, Doc, in Steinbeck’s “Cannery Row”.

Here is a picture link to its specifications page.

Its total lighting capability is equal to approximately 135 100 watt bulbs

(the math actually works out to…
134.69387755102040816326530612245 100 watt bulbs….

…but don’t tell Susan).    😉

I saw a video clip where Melanie said she didn’t speak much French at all, and didn’t really know why she wrote those lines in French…

She just thought it sounded good, and had to ask someone if it was correct.

From yesterday.

never saw this movie, either. and to think of all the thousands of dvd’s we have in our collection!
i guess it’s time to watch this one with a streaming service.

Just me being me.       🙂

1,000 DVD’s in their cases would occupy 4.9591064453125 cubic feet.
But you said “thousands”, and English usage being what it is, I’m interpreting your comment to mean at least 3,000; so you have at least 14.8773193359375 cubic feet of DVD’s.
That’s a box 2.459470182236630483604244805689 feet on a side (they wouldn’t fit in it because of the dimension differences but it gives the idea).
By the internet a single case and DVD weighs 71 grams which, when the mathematics are done comes to 469.584618 lbs..
As I said…..

I know you enjoy those meaningless decimal places… but some people’s eyes just glaze over, and they don’t read what they assume that they can’t follow.

Just MHO, but I really think they’d pay more attention if you said “15 cubic feet”, or “a box 2 1/2 feet on a side”.

BTW a good friend sent me pics of some shelves he had built, that he said held about 1,000 DVD’s and CD’s, and they weren’t massive. He was about to build another set for the next 1,000, to get them out of boxes.

They were made of 1×6″ boards, and wall brackets, and the cases fit pretty perfectly.

the entire downstairs is dedicated to our home theater. with shelves to hold the dvd’s. MMM has even alphabetized all the dvd’s.

My best guess, in reply to Claude, is… the Westminster Kennel Club?

But maybe not directly…

Could be via Cleo’s pal “Tony da Fence.”

Or could be that she somehow managed to acquire them herself from their rightful owner(s).

Or maybe she managed to acquire, instead, a 3d printer, and now owns and operates “Cleo’s Replicas and Reproductions.”
