I would say that I’ve never heard of King Harvest, the group YouTube identifies as playing this song… yet I definitely remember liking it, so I guess I must have known of them.
Ah, the little things that fall through the holes, as years go by.
…
Meanwhile… in the gif… it’s a little blurry, so even if I enlarge it, I can’t tell what’s between the dancers’ heads… it looks different every time I try.
Either something is suspended there, or he has a giant nose, or her arm is raised between them…. or I’m looking at it totally wrong.
[sigh]…..Maybe it’s just me, but both gifs look exactly the same, resolution-wise. Or, maybe it’s because I have a large monitor screen, so I didn’t have to enlarge it on my end. At any rate, I know that sometimes it’s just a matter of personal perception, so whatever helps along the way is always appreciated.
You’re not the only one, Susan. I had no recollection of King Harvest, either. But during my search last night, when I played this video, it was indeed the same version I remember from so many years ago.
According to my Top Singles Book(geared to the U.S. music market), they only charted twice. Once with Dancing in the Moonlight (debut 10/28/72, 22 weeks on the chart, topping at #13) and also with A Little Bit Like Magic (debut 5/5/73, 4 weeks on the chart, topping at #91). So, perhaps a one-hit wonder?
If you’re interested in the other, lesser-known release:
This has always been one of my all-time favorite songs, so I had heard of King Harvest. It’s the only song of theirs I know. The opening keyboard hooks me.
This is a good series.
I’ve taken longer than the episode time to watch because I keep going to look for more on a number of the cartoonists mentioned.
In this one, there is a British cartoonist, Donald McGill, whose mention begins at just after 10:45 whose post card artwork would likely have been “banned in Boston” (funny how the pendulum swung from rambunctious tea-parties to blue-nose, that). They’re funny ! !
Please, keep these coming. 😁
I really should digitize a negative I took decades ago at the local zoo (Hellabrunn; Munich) – a polar bear, jumping off a ledge but still (barely) in contact. Horizontal.
I was having a lot of trouble, earlier… either with this site or my internet…
I should be in bed now… but first….
wanted to say… Wow… “Bone-anza!”
With three kids, two adults and one TV…. Bone-anza was one of the only programs my whole family agreed on.
Every Sunday night, in front of the huge 14″ black and white TV, we all paid our respects.
…
My sister claimed Little Joey, aka Mikey Landhound, as HER dog…
But I didn’t care cos I wanted to put my leash on Pawnell Robarks… to me, the smart, more grown-up, pick of the litter.
—
More grown up than I knew…. We later found out all of the “brothers” were years older than we thought…
and except for Little Joey, they all wore toupees, being, in real life, far too old to be growly-voiced, also wig-wearing, Lorrrrne Grrreene’s puppies….
even though in their roles on the show, they all acted like obedient teenagers.
—
Speaking of his grrrowly voice…
Who the heck told Lorrrne Grrreene he could sing?
Did somebody forget to yell “April Fool!”?
Maybe that’s why they only used instrumental versions on the show…
Nobody wanted be the one to tell him they were going to use someone else’s vocals.
—
Though it was made pretty obvious in the various plots, I don’t remember knowing till later that each pup had a different mother…
That Pa really got around.
It couldn’t have been his singing that attracted the ladydogs.
…
Nonetheless, we loved the show…
Accepting its premise … three grown men living with Pa, obeying his orders… and always ready to solve problems on the range.
I really, really hope this link to this Macleans Magazine, September 15.1952 article works for the fans of Lorne Greene.
Google does list it as “Not secure,” but I had no problems (it’s Macleans’ archive, and I suspect Google wanted the magazine’s hair parted the other way).
Substitute “VOICE OF DOOM” for WILLIAM WALLACE at the opening. WILLIAM WALLACE is a misprint there, Lorne Greene, and only Lorne Greene was the “VOICE OF DOOM”.
The other Adam(a).
“Battlestar Galactica”, anyone?
Watching “Conquest of the Earth” right now. – I think “StarTrek IV” was inspired by some parts of it.
I was just wonderin’, Plods……is the Lorne Greene version that I posted under the poster (way up on top) NOT workin’ right and that’s why you posted this one?…or maybe you didn’t notice it??
Either way, no problem with a duplicate. Like I said…………just wonderin’…
Oh – and their “Chinese” cook was impersonated by a – Korean.
No need to worry about the smell of cow pats – they’ve got kimchi!
Just kiddin’; we love kimchi.
Porcupine hanging on a willow tree branch in Alaska.
“Psycho quiller? Nope, this is no homicidal rodent. Act friendly and keep a tail’s length of distance, and you should be safe from a spiny fate. (That thing about porcupines launching their quills at you like darts? Yeah, total myth.)
But make no mistake: These pudgy rodents are more than able to put the hurt on perceived predators. Porcupine quills are lined with barbs that make them difficult—and extremely painful—to extract. Even the burliest bear or the toothiest cougar fears a snoutful of spines, so most stalkers of forest prey are content to leave Spike here alone.”

Oh, I see, the trick is to play both of these at once. Nice!

Help?
I found a version that’s a little more clear.
It’s her hat brim.

Somebody is bananas for Bone Anza tonight!
Funny that you said that…
Cos speaking of bananas…
I was wondering whether a certain Monkey Blues, or even some other monkey….. they’re a crafty species…
had made a deal on a merchandise tie-in with the series, and whether Stel knew.
Shameless indeed!
They are not inexpensive treats (they have cat treats too). shameless pets The attachment is the definition, from the site, of what “upcycled” means.
Common word here in Germany.
No. Stel did not know. Just some sort of serendipity, I guess.
I never heard of this! My dogs liked bananas, though.

We were all ready to believe it.
Part of the problem, earlier, was that I couldn’t get about half the pictures to load, or any videos to play…
but more important… when I finally could see the poster, and tried to comment, I would only get this:
Has anybody else ever seen that message?
I’ve gotten it a couple of times in the past but only temporarily.
I have never seen that.
Two successive “Search Google for image” searches brought up the responses in the attachment.
I have a rather clear head-picture of the cast appearing on one of the variety shows. They were astride saw-horses and singing:
“We got a right to pick a little fight
BONANZA!
If anyone fights with anyone of us, they gotta fight with me.”
Lorne Green continues his ‘singing’ tour

Well, I guess I HAD to give it a like, cos there’s no way to give it a loud scream… or even three thumbs down.
And I stopped the vid, but it came back on all by itself! Scary!
Lorne Greene is just as bad a singer as Lorrne Grrreene…
Maybe that’s why the humans picked him.
Your reminiscing brings back memories of our house, too. Thanks for sharing, Susan.
Yikes! Not in white boots!!!!
It’s looks like they’re plastic though…. whew….
There’s an all day ear worm.
Bizzy day….

My bad. Bizzy bizzy bizzy
doc – moms day for shopping.
Hurried through.
There’s no “bad”, Plods! No need for apologies, at all….I was just concerned that the one I posted might not have been workin’!
It’s all good! The more, the merrier, after all!!!
Hope you get some relaxin’ time in at some point today! ♥

I like picked cabbage. Good stuff!
I prefer that to directly eating it from the field, too… 😉
I LOVE your poster, Stel! Just like being on a ranch in Montana.
BONE*ANZA!
Thanks, ML !!
