While these Post covers are pretty good, looking at the art work, by Alan Foster, here, and Stevan Donaho, in the comment above (yes I googled them), makes me realize how great Norman Rockwell was and why we’ve heard of him, more so than the others.
There was a time when I was very young, and more of a purist, taught to look down at Rockwell as an “illustrator”, not a fine artist.
But learning, in my early 20s, that the same was said of Maxfield Parrish, whose work I loved, like most of us in the Parrish revival of the 1970s, got me over that silly snobbism.
Now I can visualize what night have been Rockwell’s interpretation of these scenes, and recognize his probable mastery, had he painted them instead.
No – but if she had been all the time, maybe none of that would have happened. It’s not the first time,
She lives with her son here in Munich (one of my husband’s and my best friends) since end of 2021.
I fell asleep twice last night trying to solve that number puzzle….
Which I never finished…
And when I woke up again not long before dawn, my internet was out.
I’ve been getting that strange message “connected without Internet”, which makes no sense…
Or on my phone, “no data connection” on Wi-Fi.
Just my luck, my actual cell connection, which has been doing much better most of the last few months, was also down.
My ISP just fixed my lines and gave me a new modem in December, but I still live in an area with slow, not terribly reliable service… very old copper wiring, no financial incentive (due to low population, they say) to install fiber or even better copper, and and out of reach of WiFi service.
I called them and they tested my lines, i reset my modem… all the usual, several times.
It finally came back half an hour ago…. And 5g just now.
Do you have TV’s, phones etc on the same system? Woould be why it was reporting “connected, no internet.” I got the “no internet” message all the time on my old computer. The WiFi was failing on it. I bought a $5 WiFi dongle and solved the problem.
My land line phone is technically on the same copper wire, but since I have DSL, they’re separate services.
It’s Internet data that was out, and the phone never gets that.
I don’t have a computer right now, and haven’t had a TV since 2008.
The line goes directly to the modem and the landline, with a filter on the latter.
The data stream was already missing at the modem, and the only way anything else connects to that is by Wi-Fi.
The tech from my ISP says it’s the wonky wiring in my part of town… congestion or something getting corrupted along the way hangs it up, and I need to reset my modem.

Alright kids, it’s time to meet another member of the family.
I’m thinking it must be Mother’s Day.
..
It looks sort of like a bunch of bananas, with one of them wearing glasses.
At first glance, I thought it WAS a bunch of bananas…. or, before somebody pedantically corrects me, a hand of bananas.
But now I’m wondering why it looks like bananas.
Is there something a snake would consider tasty that lives on bananas, or in banana trees….
so this kind of snake has evolved to hang almost invisibly in banana trees and eat them?
…
Kinda reminds me of the old elephant joke about how a big, slow elephant can catch a speedy rabbit…
HERE’S WHAT IT IS.
I liked this one
,
“Your ass is on the line.”
Yes!
And here I was thinking it was a Jack in the box…
When you’re walking around the wooded areas, you might be lucky enough to hear a wild donkey’s call….
,,
At first I thought the yellow rectangle was a puzzling sign, taped to the candy counter…
I wondered why they posted a sign about Italy in a neighborhood shop 🤪… Duh…

Unfair to Foster and Donaho, I guess, but true.

Jack Webb as The D.I.
I remember seeing that movie on the television.
Jack Webb was a great badass
Open all day long, so you can dash in and dash out whenever you feel the urge.

Anyone else confirm or refute?
Your answer can’t be right because you have two numbers from the first row, and only one number from the first row is correct.
Same!
You’re right about the two numbers, I’ll plead the headaches…… 😉
Me too

Tigressy, I’m sorry to hear about your 92 yo friend being robbed. Was s/he present at the time? Does s/he have a safe place to stay for a while?
I hope you and Mr. Tiger have a secure home. Take care.

Our home is endangered…
Take care

I feel like I otter say something here.

,.,
Blueberry pancakes ought to have blueberries in the batter…
Or otter have them, to go with the theme of the above comments.
The second pic seems to have them…
Not sure whether the first one is real blueberry pancakes.
In any case…. Now I want some!
Now it’s my turn for connection issues!

(Got your e-mail last night. Haven;t got round too answering it just yet. Sorry…)
Never worry about when you answer emails.
It was a reply to yours, and I’m pretty sure it took me a couple of days.
Sometimes it takes longer.
