Wow… nice!

I love wind-up toys.

Marx made about 3.57 zillion versions of this car, from the 1920’s through at least the 40s, some with different names.

I’ve seen them sell for 300 bucks or so, even more for the Charlie McCarthy or Disney versions.

But even without Charlie, this one is probably worth half a grand, being one of the oldest models, in such impeccable condition, with an almost untattered original box.

Funny standoff at antique toy shows:

If you’re buying you want to know that the mechanism works.

If you’re selling, you never want to wind it up, and you certainly won’t let a customer do it.

Clocks, coal, draught beer, soup to whiskey; all have been vending machine products as shown in the photographs in this     HUFF POST     article. The above existed in England (majority of the photographs are from England or Europe).

The spelling of ‘Whisky’ narrows it down to Scottish whisky. If it was Irish whiskey, it would be spelt with the ‘e’, same as you do in the States.

Typically, US whiskey is distilled once, which gives it the sweetness you find in the drink, Scottish is distilled twice, and Irish is distilled three times which gives it the smoothness you find in Irish whisky.

Did a quick search and found that the Evva was exhibited at the Second Automatic Vending Exhibition in London in 1960.

Oops… I didn’t refresh before I posted, and didn’t see yours.

I think I’ll leave mine up anyway, if you don’t mind, cos it isn’t completely the same. 😁

“……do in the States”

M.C.T.S. was responding to my comment.

He, (I think Susan said you’re male, M.C.T.S.) didn’t know or forgot I’m Canadian.
If he was responding to you it would be as if he said “….do in Switzerland.” (knowing that German is one of the official languages there).
You are no more Swiss, than I am American, so if M.C.T.S. hadn’t known or forgotten, I either reminded him, or let him know.

Not just you… I’m sure MCTS knows we have several Canadians here.

People tend to say “you Americans” because it’s an American site ….

that is to say, both WordPress and Nighthawks are located in the US….

Even though we all know that besides the Canadians, there are a couple of Brits, and at least two Germans who often or occasionally post here, and/or read the comments.

I’m sure no offense was intended.

….

I personally know a couple of Canadians who are always peeved at what they think of as being assumed to be American.

One is my own sister, who was born in the US but has had Canadian citizenship for decades.

I understand… but honestly, it’s just that it’s a pain to keep typing things like “you Americans, Canadians and Germans.” 😁

And Canadian (rye) whisky is spelled without the “e” either…

So where would one buy a whiskey from a vending machine?

It would enliven the workday, but probably be frowned upon during business hours.

Not very elegant for the theater. Not a good idea when driving.

You’d want a better drink and more choices at a bar.

….

It says “whisky” so maybe it’s in Scotland… but in most parts of the British Isles “Ice cold” isn’t a selling point.

The US is largely too puritanical for the concept.

Australia?

Every professional photographer needs a capable assistant. This one is especially good at getting those “fast action” shots.

I can’t even tell what she’s standing on.

Maybe it’s real; maybe it’s not.

But it’s on BoredPanda.com… and there’s one thing to bear on mind about that site (and I didn’t even make that pun on purpose!):

One of their taglines is “Anyone can write on Bored Panda.”

There’s not a lot of oversight.

Ah… I see.

To me, “apparently” indicates (at least some degree of) belief.

I don’t take it for skepticism, as I would “supposedly”.

Yeah… he wouldn’t make a good subject for this game.

Maybe, if you were going to post the adult, and have people guess who he was as a child.

Actress Stephanie Courtney has played Flo for about 15 years, and it’s been a very lucrative career for her.

It’ll be really good for Cleo, if she can stick with it and be a good spokesperson.

Most companies tend to ignore their canine customers, refusing to provide for their particular needs, or hire real dogs, whether as advertising spokespeople, models, or actual salespeople, who truly represent that market.

This company, by hiring Cleo, shows themselves to be quite progressive.

All Cleo has to do to succeed is take direction well, be always cheerful, and of course, get along well with Stephanie…

and act as perky, enthusiastic, and eager to please as she does.

No problem, right?
