That’s a cap. In which case, the baseball shouldn’t be on the list, either.

And the first one is a toque…

Funny thing is, to me, it’s neither.

Toque is distinctly Canadian.

I don’t know… maybe some people say it up closer to the border, like in Michigan or North Dakota, but they didn’t in Minnesota or Wisconsin when I was growing up.

….

A beanie is a little round cap, usually sewn in sections, like you see in cartoons.

Brownie scout caps and yarmulkes are pretty much beanies.
You can have a knitted or crocheted beanie, too… But they’re not deep like what you’d call a toque.

The hat in the picture, to me, is a watch cap, or sometimes just a knit cap or a winter hat.

What’s the big difference between a panama and a fedora then?

I would have guessed “the fabric”, but it’s more than that…

Panama Hat vs. Fedora: What’s the Difference?

For some reason, your post didn’t show up for me before i made my comment.

Sorry to somewhat duplicate.

A Panama is made of fine straw, woven directly into the shape of a hat, the finer the weave, the better.

These days there are many imitations, and we call them all Panamas, but a genuine Panama hat is made of a special kind of straw from Ecuador, better yet, actually hand woven in Ecuador, with a little traditional rosette design in the center of the crown.

They’re durable, flexible, and quite expensive.

A fedora is pressed and steamed from a flat circle of felt. The best are felted from wool or other animal fur, with no synthetics.

A fedora is usually softer and more shapeable by the wearer than a Panama, and these days has a bit narrower brim…

Sometimes a lot narrower… but if it gets too narrow it’s a Trilby, not a Fedora.

Spoiler.
It’s the second sheep to the right of the doggie, although it looks like someone just tried erasing the eyes and did a poor job of it.

If you let him bark until it stops, he’ll forever think his barking is what made it stop.

So every time it rains, he’ll bark. And bark. And bark.

Huh…. Now I can see it either way.

I had a little dog who used to bark at rain sometimes, especially if she wanted to go outside, cos she didn’t like going out in it.

A dog trainer gave me the advice in my post…

But he said it about letting my dog bark at the garbage truck…. ie, don’t let her think she drove it away.

I’ve have numerous electric shocks over the course of my career in the Power Industry, 240V shocks being the most common, but I did once get a 415V shock, and that one really did hurt! Fortunately it was two phases on the same arm, and not from arm to arm. The most painful shock I ever got was an induction shock after climbing an insulated ladder in a live 132kV compound, and putting my arm over an Earthed Busbar. I had a live circuit right behind me well outside the safety clearance required, and the shock went through my overalls and a thick sweatshirt. I don’t recommend that one as it was really painful. Fortunately it was just voltage, and negligible current. There’s a saying: “It’s the Volts that Jolt, it’s the Mill’s that Kill.” ‘Mill’s’ referring to ‘Milliamps’.

One of the things I found about myself over the years was, as humans, we tend to do stupid things when we should really be using our brains instead. For instance, when working on a live panel, you might just brush part of your hand against a live terminal and get a bit of a tingle, the thought process then goes “Was that Live?” and to see whether it was Live, you’d then go and touch it with a finger instead of using your brain and using a Test Lamp, or a Voltmeter to check, because as humans, we do dumb things from time to time. Normally at that point, you’d get a better shock (240V) and say something like “Damn*, that IS Live!” I’d like to say I only did that once, but I cant!

(*Substitute a different four-letter word here)

.

Several years ago, I lost a colleague to an 11kV shock, they were replacing a Pole Transformer, and broke a few of our Safety Rules, which resulted the transformer being back-energised from the live LV wires, and he had one hand on each of the outside 11kV Bushing Terminals. The only good thing is he wouldn’t have known anything about it. At those sorts of voltages and power, nerve pathways burn out straight away.

I thought this was a bit cruel, but then I realized the puppies were all well looked after (and at least three made it to the prize).
The music choice is again dubious.

It took me a while to figure out what’s going on here, but when I did I immediately recognised the talent this guy has (the music is terrible).

“Video Unavailable” – This video contains content from ITV_PLC, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.

This is a laugh as I’m in the UK. Now, I copied the URL from the blocked video, pasted it into a different browser, same response. Went to the User’s main page, and found the playlist for the UFO videos, clicked on that and it launched the first episode, but didn’t play, and gave me the same warning. However, when I clicked on the episode (again) in the list on the right of the player window, the video started to play…..

Make up your mind ‘toobe, is it blocked or not!!
