I’m leaving this as a “raw” link. It leads to the facebook page of an Ontario organization called “Bear With Us Centre for Bears – Rehabilitation, Education, Sanctuary”.
Clear the facebook “aren’t-we-great-join-us” bit and scroll down. There is a caption explaining the picture. The credit is in the logo at the picture’s bottom right..
The site is worth exploring.
I went to that page, but as I’m not on Facebook, what I could see was limited.
To anyone looking for more info about the picture, the caption only says that the situation was temporary, and the bears were in captivity.
I wouldn’t call that exactly an explanation.
However, there’s a link to the organization’s website, which has a lot of information about wild bears, especially black bears, the most common wild bears in North America:
I am sure I’ve seen other photos of this guy from different angles. It is a striking image, and speaking only for myself, I think it speaks to a great many people.
Today’s Songs:
1. ‘Magic Bus,’ 2. ‘Magic Carpet Ride,’ 3. ‘Moon Shadow,’ and 4. ‘Mr. Spaceman,’ and the ‘Cheap Thrills Cuisine’ recipe 5. ‘Citrus Avocado Salad’
1. The original release of Pete Townshend’s ‘Magic Bus’ was done by the band ‘Pudding’ (it’s below / it wasn’t a hit for them / ‘Magic Bus’ became a live concert staple for the ‘Who’..
2. The things one learns:
Broad strokes: Joachim Fritz Krauledat; born in 1944 in Tilsit, East Prussia, Germany, now part of Russia. His mother and he escaped from East Germany in 1949 and he and his family moved to Toronto in 1958 (Teachers couldn’t pronounce his last name so he became John ‘K’. They then moved to Buffalo in 1963. He and his wife German born Jutta Maue now live in Vancouver (he, at least never took out Canadian citizenship). Kay, as he became, credits her as his inspiration for the song. I put a link to the short Wikipedia article below. His song ‘Renegade’ recounts he and his mother’s escape. It is below too (it is sung with very real passion).
3. I cut and pasted the beginning of the ‘History’ portion of the Wikipedia article from here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonshadow_(song) below (copy and paste it in an address bar and you’re there).
4. Probably the lightest song ‘The Byrds’ ever sang. I like it.
5. If you produced evidence I’ve eaten enough avocado in my life to make 5 in total I’d be surprised. With grapefruit we’d be somewhere in the teens; I think.
Stevens considers this his favourite of his old songs.[1] When Yusuf appeared on “The Chris Isaak Hour” in 2009, he said of this song:
“I was on a holiday in Spain. I was a kid from the West End [of London] – bright lights, et cetera. I never got to see the moon on its own in the dark, there were always streetlamps. So there I was on the edge of the water on a beautiful night with the moon glowing, and suddenly I looked down and saw my shadow. I thought that was so cool, I’d never seen it before.”
.
It needs a goofy smile to be Buddy.
This guy looks far too wise for a goofy smile.
Even world-weary.

I’d like to know the story behind this picture.

Another of Bruno Catalano’s sculptures from the same exhibit. It is a link to an article about that exhibit in “DailyArt” magazine.
Where’s Monday and Tuesday. I only see Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. (just my interpretation, I’ve no idea what they are called).
I do remember seeing one by this artist, though it was probably one of his other ones, cos I think more of the figure was present.
I said something like not even Tums would help after such spicy enchiladas.
