I was in the Northwest Territories living in a staff house when Janis Joplin died.
A then new friend, who I still have to this day, and I, decided to have a wake for her in his room (vodka and various other liquors, and only liquors, were involved).
By the time we, and the other residents of the staff house (all of them / the other liquors) who joined in were done, his room had to be repainted due to all the magic marker graffiti placed on its walls (the later additions were well off topic).
But enough:
Few people know that the ancient Temple of Poseidon was built as the earthly docking station for the moon.
Here, in clandestine footage, we see Luna, as she was called back them, coming in for a landing.
The images were hidden for centuries, to disguise the existence of film, until the world was more ready to accept the idea of the time traveling aliens who brought it to the Greeks….
Poseidon , Zeus, and Hades were (correction: are — unless they’ve been killed — since they’re otherwise immortal) brothers. Hestia, Demeter and Hera are their sisters.
One of Poseidon’s most famous children is Pegasus (whose fraternal twin brother is Chrysaor — he’s always depicted as human in art, not a horse). Their mother was Medusa.
She was pregnant with them when Perseus chopped off her head (they both jumped out of her neck).

As always, click through the clutter and go full screen.
This is the second time I’ve used this site. The version at the usual site I use was way out of sync.
On this site:
1) Do not use the central ► use the one at the lower left as you would on a YouTube video.
2) There is a LOT of clutter, a LOT; just keep clicking the “close” Xs (and only the “close” Xs), you will get to “Yellow Submarine.”
I guess they wouldn’t allow the A-roll Footage team in there because of the cigar smoke. 🙂
But seriously, I really do think all that fan noise was the air scrubbing system keeping that clean room and the mirror absolutely dust free.
And now to bed. 😴 😴 😴
Looks good. So far the Webb has the BIG installations finished, and they look good. Now they’re waiting for it to reach it’s primary orbit. That’ll be January 23rd.
It’s a pretty common mistake, this time of year, putting the wrong year on checks, etc, and, often, not even noticing till someone tells you.
Probably that’s what happened today.
…
It turns out that occasionally, the site apparently just glitches…
But usually, Nighthawks or Stel, on their particular days to be the post “Author”, write the page title…
As soon as it’s uploaded, WordPress sets up the URL, according to that title, and its corresponding space on its servers.
There was no Cleo site last January, as Cleo was still on Sherpa, so the 2021 URL was available to use. Had there been a page there, I expect from previous examples, this one would have had “-2” at the end.
. ..
From that moment, AFAIK, the author or the administrator can log in and change the title, as one of them may still do when they notice the mistake, or see your post…
but the URL itself can’t be changed or corrected.
….
Creating the URL is baked into the site programming; you can be the page author or administrator, titles that Nighthawks and Stelbel swap according to their days to post, but you can’t reach levels beyond your authority, or reprogram the site itself.
It’s the same way you can have the “Administrator” title and privileges for your Windows account or computer, but you can’t rewrite the OS.
Anyway, the upshot is human error… Cos we’re all human.
The main reason I point out the year date is the URL. You say that a “-2” would be added in case the generated URL already exists. If that’s true, then I guess my complaint is void.
But, you also say that the URL is generated based on webpage title, which on Friday was January 7, 2022, yet the generated URL is for the year 2021. Usually the generated URL has the full month; but, I’ve seen cases where a day in the same month may use the month’s abbreviation, “Jan” in this case, while others in that month all have the full month. So, I’m not so sure the URL creation is baked into the site programming as you say.
So, I don’t know that the “-2” is actually added when that URL already exists, or if it just overwrites what is at the preexisting URL, losing the older strip and comments (something that might be worth correcting, if it isn’t baked into the site programming – why I mentioned it).
If this happens again next year, other than for those 2 January URLs pointing to the year 2021 instead of 2022, this time wrongly pointing to 2022 instead of 2023, I guess that’ll confirm whether the “-2” is added as you say, or not. Hopefully that test will never occur. I had forgotten that Cleo was still at Sherpa last January.

There’s enough extra skin here for a third dog.

Along with moon fuel.
You’re welcome.

I got turned on to the below from a comment by Cpeckbourlioux at today’s Frazz.
The musicianship is excellent.
As I always say, I learn so much from reading the comics. Funny!

Gee, thanks. What a nice thought.
The silver lining… Being found before you bloat.
I suppose it’s not safe for those of us who live alone, and/or don’t share a TV.
…
Along with those merry thoughts, we have Janis Joplin, plus Brian Jones, of the Stones… Both, sadly, members of the “27 Club”.
Ricky, too, lost way before his time, and so were two of the Beatles.
Sigh…. Nostalgia just ain’t what it used to be, sometimes.
….
At least there’s Mick… He’s what, about 117 now? No, that’s Keith. Mick is probably 103, and doesn’t look a day over 97.
And Paul and Ringo are still making interesting videos.
So it’s all ok.
Especially in that house.
Someone else is getting into animation.
Just to show how big the JW telescope is, this is one of the segments being mirrored.

(sigh) Much too close to home; we miss one of our best friends…
The Stones video was surprisingly satisfying.

I’m getting in on the #bettywhitechallenge
mea culpa.
I’ve been a scewup lately.
I fixed the date , but that won’t help the URL.
Oops… You posted this while I was typing mine below…
Gonna leave mine, though, unless you object, cos it says more.
….
EVERYBODY goes around typing 2021 till February…
Banks accept checks with the wrong year every January.
….
BTW, folks… if you have an actual outdated check from January 2021, sneak it in while you can.
Thanks for correcting the date in the title.
