Given yesterday’s space theme, here is “Telstar” also from 1962.

And I doubt any kid today would know off-hand what this is imitating.
I still have my percolater; it makes better coffee than any of the drip machines.
Also 1962.

I’ve seen the humans’ “The Godfather,” I’m not that impressed with it.
I much preferred “The Mechanic.”

LiveAid 1985: one of the all-time greatest concerts and also, one of the all-time greatest Queen performances…..EVER!!

Thankfully, we have YouTube to relive moments like these….

to Nighthawks: a very faithful and well done clip of an iconic Godfather/Dogfather scene! Bravo!

(and, we’re just NOT going to worry about the logistics of leaving the murder car out in the middle of nowhere…..they’re Bassets! They’ll find their way back! No problem! The humans didn’t worry about that in their version, either! At least they all have snacks in case they get hungry…)

I’ll bet the humans used their cell phones to call up an Uber or Lyft to get them out of there. Wait, what year was this supposed to be happening in??? More importantly, was kibble around then???

Continuing yesterday’s theme about Arkansas that didn’t get posted (screen shot below), Woolverton Mountain is a real place in Arkansas. It’s between Morrilton and Clinton, just west of Hwy. 9. I go by there all the time on my way to the Buffalo River. I need to take a side trip to Clifton Clower’s grave in the Woolverton View Cemetary sometime. If I do I’ll take a picture and post it here.

Also, really interesting info about the bazooka, Bob Burns, Woolverton Mt. and Arkansas!

So, the Clifton Clowers story was true? His grave is really there?

I knew you’d be a fascinating guest lecturer at our Cleo 101 Refresher Week Course!

From: “The General Foods Kitchens Cookbook”
By: The women of General Foods Kitchens
Published by: Random House, Inc.
Library of Congress Catalog Card Number: 59 – 1084

Pecan Pie

1 cup dark corn syrup
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 eggs, slightly beaten
3 tablespoons butter
1 teaspoon vanilla (real not artificial)
1 cup coarsely broken pecans
1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell

Combine syrup, sugar, and salt in saucepan.
Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring until sugar is dissolved.
Boil 2 minutes.
Pour slowly over eggs, stirring constantly.
Add butter, vanilla, and pecans, stirring to mix well.
Pour into unbaked pie shell.
Bake in moderate oven (375° F.) for 50 minutes, or until done. (Pie should be completely puffed across top and firm.)
Cool.
Spread with sweetened whipped cream or dessert topping mix before serving if desired.
Note: Filling may be baked in 8 to 10 unbaked 3 1/2 inch tart shells. Reduce baking time to about 35 minutes.
Nuts may be toasted slightly for rich flavor. For this, simply heat nuts in a teaspoonful of butter in skillet over low heat. Stir until nuts are lightly browned.

Note from me:
I’ve not made this, but take the pecans out and sub-in either plumped raisins or currants, and you’ve got yourself one big butter tart (which I do make).
You’ll just need half the pie crust recipe from   HERE

No, no, no. Add a 1/2 C Kahlua for a really good pecan pie.

Wow! The Dogfather! (I saw a guy wearing a t-shirt that was ‘The Catfather’…maybe it was EWC’s father)

However do you think of all the dialogue? Amazing, Nighthawks! Loved ‘the right paw doggie’.
