I think I found the turtle…

BUT…..

The resolution, either of this picture or of my tablet screen, is too poor to tell for sure.

He’s kind of caught in the tentacles of a jellyfish.

Anybody else found a different one?

Susan, I saw something there too, but even on the laptop I can’t make it out. I think the turtle is in the shark’s tummy.

The cat one was easy. It said “can you find the cat?”. For me the answer was “no”, and that was correct.

This one isn’t asking.

Pre WWI… Ahead of its time.

Top speed, though, was 20 or 25 mph, with usually 75 to 100 miles on a charge.

That was enough for most town cars at that time.

It seemed fast to them!
Even on local country roads.

I only meant it wasn’t enough ahead of its time to be used today.

People who own restored cars of that type or vintage often can’t license them for street use, except for special permits for certain occasions, because they don’t go fast enough.

We have several antique car gatherings around here…

They all have special use permits and the roads are briefly closed to other traffic.

I just realized…

The ad is written to appeal to women drivers but I think of the four ladies inside the car, the two in the frontmost seats are facing backwards.

If one of them in the rear seat is driving, she’d be having a hard time seeing the road to steer.

Can’t tell by looking for the steering wheel, cos I believe they have a lever instead.

If the uniformed coachman is actually the chauffeur… where does he sit??? There’s no room.

I just looked at a couple of videos of these, but they were a bit later models, and had regular forward-facing front seats… And yes, steering levers.

Again, today’s 10-year-old Ballard Street strip.

Our former home for comments when Cleo was on Sherpa, before we had this site.

Of course, not many still go there since Sherpa was closed down.

….

Nighthawks (and Stel) set up this site, where we can see the strip and comment on the same page, and we started coming here, instead.

So there aren’t many new comments there, but it’s still full of the ones we made on Ballard Street, itself, ten years ago.

A stranger batch this time…

Then again, many are missing, so it’s a bit disjointed.

A few people removed themselves, but GoComics banned others, and removed all their comments.

They also removed all pictures and links, most times removing the whole post, including the name of the commenter…

other times just removing the content, and leaving not only empty posts…. but also a lot of replies to threads and images that are long gone.

Jimmy Henley, the little boy playing banjo with Roy Clark in the video clip, is certainly a prodigy. Mr. Clark plays (acts) it really well, letting the kid show off and pretending to resent it.
A quick search reveals that Jimmy grew up to be a popular bluegrass star and champion banjo picker. Sadly, he died of throat cancer on March 22, 2020 at the age of 56.

I do not know who came up with the idea for the first “flash mob,” but it was an inspiration. They’re fun and they’re (typically) lighthearted.
This one, singing “Libiamo” from La Traviata, is somewhat different because the piece is for several soloists and a chorus, and because these are all amateur singers. They are singers who have had some training certainly, but not professional quality. Give them credit for having the courage to go forward with this in public. It is nerve-wracking, especially if you aren’t used to it.

Ooooh…. it’s Cinderbasset!

One of my favorite basset movies!

She’s so bee-oo-ti-ful.

And glittery…. and…. and… everything.

Dripping with glitter and… um.. sparkleballs… and so pretty…. and…um… fairy-like.

But you know, her eyes look kind of sad….

Is it because she had to run away at midnight, and lose her glass paw-slipper?

Or because she knows it’s almost midnight, and the enchantment will soon wear off?

Or..um… maybe… is it just because she’s a basset hound and they have naturally sad looking eyes?

Whatever it is… please…. don’t be sad, Cinderbasset!

You’re beautiful, and you went to the ball… and… some day your…

Oh! Wait…. are those the pawsteps of a Prince I hear?

Glass pawslippers do sound terribly uncomfortable.

But they brought her Prince Charming, so she keeps them, with great fondness.

I just hope he doesn’t insist that she actually wear them!

The Prince knew that no other female could fit into Cinderbasset’s delicate pawslipper.

I didn’t understand, as a child, why having tiny feet was important for finding romance.

Come to think of it, I still don’t understand that now.

A worrisome message to send to girls with big feet.

A message to my friends here from over on Ten Cats at Groat Cronics. I tried this morning to see if I could comment again, but the answer is no. I did make an alternative account using a different email address, but the ban must be linked to the IP address as well as comments from that account don’t work either.

When (If) I do manage to get back commenting again, I won’t be able to post the pictures and videos any more. The mods made very clear that they regard that as spamming.

Have you considered starting a page on world press to do your pictures and videos, everyone loves them so much and it was greatly appreciated, you are so missed by everyone

If you’re thinking of a website like this one, which is more like a forum where people can interact and comment on the posts, then that raises several issues. The first being the need for some sort of membership for users to prevent the posting of spam and NSFM pictures etc. I’m in the UK, and as such am bound by the Data Protection Act which means email address and personal details become a problem. Then there is a need for moderation of the comments, and all that takes time. This is necessary in case of a hacked account etc. Posting on TC was simple and easy, I had a template made up that had been populated before the posting date, then all I had to do was boot up the computer, log in to GC, and post the text.

I’ll have to give it some thought, I do understand that my daily offerings are missed on TC, but even if I manage to get back to commenting on TC, I can’t post the pictures again.

Sorry… Just my opinion, not from Nighthawks or anybody else, but much as I like you both, and some of the pictures, I think with the way this site works, all of them at once would be overwhelming.

Remember that on Cleo, you can’t just post them as links, as you do on GC, where a reader can choose to open one, close it, and view another.

Every picture here opens up, full size, and anybody reading the comments would have to scroll past them all just to get to the next comment, and again, every time, just to check for new comments.

It would take away the focus on the Cleo strip, which is what we come here to see, and the reason this site exists.

Plus all that moderation MCTS doesn’t want to do in order to have his own page would fall to Nighthawks.

Once again, sorry.

Don’t panic Susan! I wouldn’t ask to post them here anyway, this site is about Cleo & Co, not Ten Cats. The reasons you give are very valid, and this is not my site to hijack with cat/rabbit/wombat/clouded leopard/golden retriever pictures.

Whew! Thank you MCTS!

I was hoping you wouldn’t take offense, but I did think you’d understand.
.
I’m pretty protective about this site, even though it’s not mine.

BTW… We do welcome a few pictures at a time, of course… and we love having extra visitors, too.

I didn’t mean to discourage anybody from Ten Cats… just hoping they also like Cleo!

And I’m so glad you’ve joined us!

Plus.. I wanna see a wombat!
