Eeek…. The other day … or week or so… I told you guys I have something they now call trypophobia.
I used to think I was the only one, but now I know there are lots of us, who are disturbed by certain things with holes in them, particularly patterns of close together holes.
For some people it’s mild dislike, for others, strong disgust or revulsion, and for some (not me) it’s an actual fear.
No one seems to know why…. I’ve felt it since childhood, and I’ve always known that it doesn’t really make sense.
…
I said mine was worse when there were things filling the holes.
Well, this picture absolutely triggers it. It makes my skin crawl and my arm hair stand on end. I can hardly bear to look at it.
Nonetheless, I wanted to Google it. I don’t live near woodpeckers, and I wanted to know what they did this for (thanks Happy³ for already answering, as I saw when I refreshed… not that I like the creepy answer.)
When I started the download, i saw that the file has an actual name.
Is it “Woodpecker Tree”, or anything like that?
NO! It’s Trypophobia!
Gee thanks, Nighthawks.
You must have known. Did you post it just for me?
So nice to be thought of.
Susan!
I ran across a series of Trypophobia images and posted some so far-
-I plead ignorance to knowing this could trigger any discomfort ……
my goal is laughter and enlightenment , not torture
note: using the P word in response is a particularly low blow
He was the original… The face I associate with Curly. DeRita had a fatter face with wide jowls. There was also Joe Besser, but he didn’t look like Curly at all.
A good question, I would think getting stopped by the police as it looks to be a one-way street.
Reasoning:
Cars are parked facing the same way on both sides of the road up ahead, plus there’s no Pedestrian Crossing sign facing the other way on the other side of the crossing. No centreline markings either.
I actually started searching this last night, but it got complicated.
Most sites in my results identified this as Tugela Falls, in South Africa, the tallest waterfall in Africa. Some were Facebook pages devoted to natural wonders, or camping trips. They seemed sincere.
However… On one of the sites, I saw a comment saying (pardon the language) “This is crap. It’s AI. Looks nothing like Tugela Falls.”
So I looked further.
According to Wikipedia, “Tugela Falls (uThukela in Zulu is a complex of seasonal waterfalls located in the Drakensberg (Dragon’s Mountains) of Royal Natal National Park in KwaZulu-Natal Province, Republic of South Africa. According to some measurements, it is the world’s tallest waterfall.”
But none of the pictures in that article looked as dramatic as this.
Then I found a short video that said, basically, wouldn’t it be nice if these three AI waterfalls were real.
I tried to find a name for the narrator, but even in the description on YouTube, no one is credited.
One weird thing is that the video is posted to an account called Cool Things, but inside the description, if you click “more”, there’s also a link to a channel called Timmy Tiny Wheels.
And both of those channels are registered in Ukraine!
So maybe it’s an AI voice, if that’s what you mean…
But I don’t think AI can make up those awful jokes all on its own.
Every time he says something is…. some adjective or other, he has to say “like a __”… like a this or a that…. or like Timmy does something stupid. Unfunny as they are, I’m still not sure AI could make those connections.
.
Are you nuts??!!
They don’t eat the acorns. They eat the bugs that eat the acorns.
Edit: Oops, i misrememberd that. They do eat the acorns as a backup food. They still eat bugs, seeds and fruit.
In fact, multiple generations of acorn woodpeckers will use the same set of trees.
Having a hard time deciding what to do with your nuts? Consider one of our layaway plans.

So nice to be thought of.
I wish I could do something equally nice for you.
Yeah! What she said!

But always funny.
Okay I can see how that could look kinda creepy in a really bad acne kind of way. Wonder if I could have a touch of trypophobia myself…
..
The road ahead will be difficult, my son. Filled with obstacles. Heed the warnings left behind by those who have gone before you.
Well, he left his mark on the town!
I’ve seen images like that in Lascaux cave…
Wow… I didn’t know they had scooters way back then!
Sure they did, just not the electric ones.
Oh of course!
Silly me.
…
“Ceci n’est pas un cheval”
I had the same impression.
I thought it was more surrealist than impressionist…
Well it impressed me.
Really?
Kinda. Almost.
I just….um… couldn’t think of a better comeback for “impressionist.”
Ed, is that you?
Talking business.
.,
Like…. he didn’t think that would happen?
Two Darwin award finalists. (The watcher and the photographer…)
….
My money’s on the former…

Pittsfield Massachusetts 1905
I hear that place is the pits.
that’s in Pennsylvania
Cool – love the drops on the column capitals. Nobody does that anymore.
..,..
Saying grace before dining?
Or maybe trying to resist getting into big trouble.
It’s a cat! It doesn’t know how to resist getting into trouble.
You’re right … I should’ve said the moment before he gets into big trouble.
Turning up her nose at the food (at least for a little while)!
kitty heaven
Or hell: closed window?
.,,.
How odd…
Two great comic actors;
I have to re-watch “The Front Page” and its predecessors.
.,.,
What happens when they come the other way?

I’ve heard of cliff diving, but this is ridiculous.
If it’s real, where is it?
waiting on Susan for that one
Done.
Sorry…. Fell asleep at my post, I guess🥱

One was this one.
I’m leaning towards AI.
I leave it to you.
,,,,
Same conclusion.
Yup.
Bet you shouldn’t lick it!
How about a big kiss?
Not that either!
Woah, look at the colors! I don’t think you even need to lick it.
Seriously. The guys that study them don’t even touch them.
Thanks. Wonderful art… I’m a little surprised I’ve never heard of her.
B S & T, man. One of the greatest rock bands ever.
Bobbie the Wonder Dog. Somewhat forgotten Oregon history.
.
Silverton is where my cousin got married. Silver Falls State Park. Lovely area. No wonder Bobbie wanted to go back.
Looks constipated.
At least Claude didn’t feed “his” cleanser to her…
FOOMP!
The porcelain disagreed.
Information about the truck 👍🏻
Narrator and his cornball “jokes” 👎🏻
This coming from someone who obviously loves cornball jokes…. If they’re funny.
I like they way the channel focuses in the odd balls.
Im fairly sure that the narration is voice generated.
I tried to find a name for the narrator, but even in the description on YouTube, no one is credited.

But what do I know.
But i LIKE cornball jokes!
I already said I do too.
Lord knows I make enough of them.
His are just too numerous and to me, not funny.
To each his own, though.
I love some pretty bad jokes.
