This is strange, but when I saw the painting, I really thought it looked like the scene was in Canada.
I have NO idea why.
I almost said so in my comment, but I thought it sounded silly, cos I had no point of reference.
Now I kinda wish I had… But I still didn’t know what made me think that.
Did I subconsciously recognize the mailbox? Was it the juxtaposition of city and empty space? I don’t think so…. But…?
That thing occupying the real estate atop Mr. Levy’s head is in the running for either worst haircut in history, or worst wig in history. It may be deliberate. For laughs.
You’re right about John Candy. He and Ms. Radner were both taken from us too soon.
“Zippy the frog” has a nice ring to it. But I associate the name with “.. the pinhead.” I realize many, if not most, folks will not understand the reference cause he is a pretty obscure comic character. Yet somehow I figured you would get it.
BTW when I last subscribed to a printed newspaper, Zippy had made the journey from underground comics into the mainstream by becoming a syndicated Sunday comic strip.
Still full of random thoughts, non sequiturs, and philosophy, still lacking narrative…
I went through very methodically and didn’t find it. Then I saw that Mr_sherman found it “immediately”. So I scrolled back up and it just jumped out at me.
I think that P-51 is right.
I’ve seen photos of some extremely odd looking things that live in the ocean but that is just too weird.
If i’m wrong and it’s real, i still want to know, what the hell is that? !!!
A couple of places said it was a microscopic sea creature.
But for one thing, AFAIK microscopic creatures aren’t going to have fully formed eyes like that, with differentiated parts.
But also, I found numerous pictures of similar but quite different creatures…. some with little translucent balls on the tips of the “spines”, others veering even farther off into the fanciful, so I figured it HAD to be AI.
Final straw… Look at the double eyeballs. I didn’t notice the rear ones at first… But that is NOT real.

Beautiful, if deadly.
I think ocelots might have the prettiest faces of all the cats.
Ocelot o’ cat there.

Nicely done!
Wonder where it is… cos there’s nothing across the street. Unless that’s just artistic license.
When I looked at the restaurant name, first I thought it said Canard, which wouldn’t be a great name cos it means a lie.
Then I noticed the sign… or assemblage.. over the door, with a cool stylized yellow bird…
I think it’s kind of a joke…. the people who own it may be named Canary.
But look… there’s no room for a “Y”.
So I’m hoping it’s called “Canari’s” and the bird is a great pun.
…
Now somebody please tell me what the red thing is blocking the sidewalk.
It’s a painting of the now shut down (2007) Canary Restaurant in Toronto.
The red and white thing is an old style mail box.
Yer back. 🙂
Hey, welcome back!
And thanks.
I see they did squeeze in a “Y”.

Anybody?
Perhaps you subliminally recognized the artist’s name?
Thanks… But I don’t think so cos I’m still not familiar with him.
Great, now I want a steak.

Trying to make out what magazine Gilda Radner is holding. Vogue?
Or maybe Elle.
They’re all so young.
Eugene Levy trying to look macho… Sorry Eugene, but LOL.
And John Candy was half his later size.
That thing occupying the real estate atop Mr. Levy’s head is in the running for either worst haircut in history, or worst wig in history. It may be deliberate. For laughs.
You’re right about John Candy. He and Ms. Radner were both taken from us too soon.
Unfortunately, that’s his frizzy hair.
Later he started leaning into his slightly weird appearance, for comic roles.
And yes, both died way too young.
gad yes
yeah, I’m having trouble remembering. that. ’74 was a pretty long time ago.
it didn’t used to be

Is its name “Kermit?”
Zippy.
“Zippy the frog” has a nice ring to it. But I associate the name with “.. the pinhead.” I realize many, if not most, folks will not understand the reference cause he is a pretty obscure comic character. Yet somehow I figured you would get it.
Oh yeah.
I think of Zippy the Pinhead too…
But I couldn’t resist the zipper pun.
Maybe Bill Griffith would forgive me.
….

But I think it’s still going!
Zippy is over on Comics Kingdom.

I got it almost immediately.
Have you ever considered posting one of these where “no” is the correct answer?
Look at it this way: It’s never the wrong answer.
if I can find it , I’ll surely post it!
He will have to be ejected from the group for non-compliance.
Yes!
Easy…
….the only one not wearing a tie.
LOL
easy for you to say!
I went through very methodically and didn’t find it. Then I saw that Mr_sherman found it “immediately”. So I scrolled back up and it just jumped out at me.
that was the drugs you just took 😉
UGH!!!! FINALLY found it.
That’s just crazy talk!
I wonder if Mr. Sullivan lived to see his prediction come true.
Not to say that he didn’t have remarkable foresight….
But remember, Dick Tracy had his 2-way wrist radio by the late 1940s, and there were walkie talkies in WWII, though I think they were pretty huge.
I know radio isn’t the same as what smartphones use….
but neither is copper wired landline service.
So I wonder how Sullivan envisioned the communication…..
If he really imagined that it would be neither of those, that would be visionary.
Actually radio is exactly what it uses.
One more item above that Dick Tracy didn’t have, is the ability to translate languages.

And what planet do you come from, little fellow?
Sol 3.
Planet AI
Simultaneously ugly and cute.
What the hell is that?!
My precious!!!
I think that P-51 is right.

I tried to find it with an image search…
A couple of places said it was a microscopic sea creature.

AI has gotten scarier than a Bosch painting.
I don’t like it.
I did the easy part..I just posted it ’cause the little bugger was cool
Thank you, Susan. That makes me feel better. If it was real I should have had some idea of what it might be…
Some superb editing in those video clips. Specifically, sound editing. Flawless timing on all the cadences.
When I read the first line, I thought exactly what Claude did.
Oh no.
Is there a pill for that?
yes, I should have put a little box in there saying. that quote was an actual ad
The pill I want is to cure my thinking like Claude.
