Great poster, Stel. In the Bassetplex you couldn’t hear the dialogue when Uma Thurdog was on screen, because of all the howling.

Did you do GoodDoggies? I can’t recall.

WOW! I always loved that song, but this was the first time I listened through headphones. It took it to a whole new level. Thank you very much for posting.

Another one of his weird, but strangely watchable flix.
I liked it.

Wow, Stel… great job on that poster.

So many names!

And such a beautiful portrait of Uma Thurdog! Of course, it would be hard to find a photo of her that is NOT beautiful…

But she looks especially fetching in her purplie eye shadow, and high black collar…
albeit with an expression on her face that clearly says

“Don’t get any ideas.
I am not fetching anything for anybody.”

This film launched her as a major star.. and restarted John Tragrowler’s flagging career…

It’s consistently ranked among the best basset films ever…

In fact, it put both Basset Pictures and Quentin Taranbasset on the map, and single-pawedly started a renaissance of independent film-making.

The plot can be described as “Everybody shoots everybody.”
I…er… I hear it’s amazing…

Cough…

It’s back for a limited engagement at the BassetPlex II and III, allowing them to fit in 6 showings a day between the two.

I have passes for the first 26 Cleo fans who want to see it, including a spouse or a friend…

They’re good for this coming Thursday night, or Saturday afternoon, including a free small kibblecorn.

So just talk amongst yourselves and let me know when you want to go, OK? Together or separately.

I’ll… um… be right here, waiting for your glowing reports.

A good friend who is somewhat of a movie tester for me told me that not even the Scaredy Cat row will do for me this time,

because every time someone tells me it’s safe to open my eyes… KAPLOWIE!

Someone else unexpectedly goes down in a flash of gunfire and sometimes blood.

I just can’t.

There will be other movies.
But meanwhile… you guys… um… enjoy, OK?

I would be happy to see it again after all these years. Find out how it holds up to the passage of time. Late show for me, the later the better. It’s a long way from here to there.
And I understand your reluctance to watch it personally. Dog forbid we should ever encounter canines like those in our daily lives. But you have to view it as a sort of video comic book. Like those old, seedy-looking ones, the possession of which landed you in hot water with mom if she found out.

I don’t think it does hold up, but I’m still glad I saw it. The infamous Heroin overdose scene still sticks in my mind. It was either laugh or be sick to my stomach; I laughed; what that says about me I don’t know.
The word “Heroin” is capitalized because it was, and maybe still is, a trade name owned by the Bayer Aspirin people.

The picture is a link to the film. As always, click through the clutter and go full screen.

There was much of this movie that I just did NOT care for. The noted scene was probably top of the list.

On down the list was the “Mcguffin” being a glow in a briefcase. I understood the artistic statement, but I found it distracting as opposed to the art of creating a real Mcguffin.

What i found interesting was that it had no one that you could actually call a hero.
And even though it had some graphic scenes i still enjoyed it.
Of course, i like some weird things out there. 🙂

For me, this is one of Stel Bel’s finest posters. It’s the total package; names, atmosphere, colorization, & just plain style.

The “Miss Millie High Maintenance” of moths.

She will only eat your cashmere and angora sweaters, though she might nibble a wee bit of alpaca if she’s really hungry.

I know, I know.

Not all moths eat sweaters.

Most moths don’t eat sweaters.

In fact, this moth might not eat anything.

In trying to get information on the “poodle moth” I discovered that there has only ever been one photo of one, which was yellow, and it has never been identified.

And this particular example might actually be a felt model.

Aw.

Your Wikipedia entry was illustrated with the same picture Nighthawks posted?

Interesting. I looked in various places last night, and several identified it as a model or a toy.

The antennae and the leg fur appear to be held on by fine wire wrapping.

….

I just followed your link and saw this one there, instead…

Spilosoma is a relative of the silk moth, and has furless black legs and antennae.

No – the other link I posted above that was transformed. If you click on that, you will get the picture Nighthawks posted plus the name of the moth.
