I read that Henreid was not only the tallest, but the highest paid actor in this film, even though he had second billing.
Lorre had already made “The Maltese Falcon” with Bogie, plus being an international star from his role as a terrifying child killer in “M”, so he wasn’t exactly unknown.
His part wasn’t huge but in my memory he head more screen time then Henreid.
BTW Bergman reportedly resented being cast at 27 as the love interest for Bogie in his 40s and Henreid in his 30s.

There’s always that one sibling.
Always a photobomber in the family.
“Hey! That was supposed to be for my driver’s license!”
NOSES!
.
Old Sparky.
I would count on them to burn hot!
Matches used to be known as “Lucifers” here in the UK, probably because of the sulphur smell when struck.
Cleo?
Roy Scheider and Lorraine Gary
.
I don’t know why, but like it.
There is something about the look on her face.
Who built the diving board out of the wall?
Wendy Darling, walking the plank?
We’ve had this artist’s work here before, but I can’t remember his name
She’s carved out of natural wood.
Could be by sculptor Peter Demetz, but his look a little different to me.

Went a different direction with that, didn’t we.
More like Dick Tracy’s 2 way wrist radios, which were fairly prophetic as well…
Except cell phones use neither wired phone technology nor radio waves
Um, the radio waves are how the cell phone connects to the cell tower.
The waves are rather a high frequency, so they are close to microwaves, still radio.
Ok, thanks…. I didn’t know they were still called radio waves at that frequency.
I thought all-digital PCS and GSM transmission were something different from Dick Tracy’s connection.
I know they’re signal-splitting technologies, but I obviously don’t know much else about it!
What he said.
What I said to him.
,,
absolutely beautiful!!!
Bird and flower.
As long as he stays away from my glasses 😁
Sneaky move!
There must be a story to this…
Kid looks juuust a bit out classed.
she could put somebody’s eye out
They used to make brasiers like that. Guns firing!
There is a name for them. I can’t remember.
“Torture”
Bullet bra, I think.
Boo! 😀
True!
Northern California too.
Always funny when tourists think they’re going to drive out to the “beach” and go swimming.
There are a few times at a few places it’s possible…
But mostly, after walking down a steep path from the parking lot, they find rocks, driftwood, and kelp… and a cold wind.
Even where swimming is possible, there’s often a dangerous undertow.
They can’t understand, because it’s supposed to be California…
Thanks, Happy! That was great!
Anyone else watching the Blondie special on axstv?
The cast of Casablanca.
Where’s Peter Lorre?
those were the major players, I think
I read that Henreid was not only the tallest, but the highest paid actor in this film, even though he had second billing.
Lorre had already made “The Maltese Falcon” with Bogie, plus being an international star from his role as a terrifying child killer in “M”, so he wasn’t exactly unknown.

great picture!
aka Daleandkristen …… my FAVORITE movie. Claude Rains is my fav. actor! Bette Davis agrees.
to satisfy my own curiosity, here are the heights of the actors:
Henreid–6′ 3″
Bogart—-5′ 8″
Rains—–5′ 7″
Bergman-5′ 9″
and
Lorre——5′ 3″
I suspect there’s some lifts in some of those shoes
Guess the song….
Got it.
Ouch!
I love me a pun, but that hurts!
Boo!
We’ve all been there.
NOSE!
Fasten-ating, too, Claude.
The ship was metally disturbed.
Ironic, isn’t it?
When it comes down to brass tacks, they should have steeled themselves for problems.
…
Ok, ok… whaddya want at 3 in the morning? Good puns?
