A determined climber or someone doing extreme parkour or freerunning would go right over or around the gates.
I think it’s not much more than the equivalent of putting up a sign, but it probably holds up better in court when the parents of the fallen climber try to sue the bridge district.
Oh yeah… It was usually ok when just the girls were on it, but most of the boys felt a duty to act like ruffians of they got on.
It’s not like they attacked the girls, but they pushed and shoved each other, and made the thing go faster, and we became collateral damage.
I was friends with a boy who didn’t act like that, and he complained one time, and some other boys pushed him off when it was spinning, and he broke his arm.

When I was about 7 there was a thing at one park a bit like the one Mr. Sherman posted but much shorter and more solid looking…. Basically just a heavy wooden seat, joined in sections to make it round. You sat with your legs inside the circle and held on to the iron ring around the inside.
I don’t remember whether it was suspended on chains like that or rotated on a metal frame.
My two younger siblings and I were on walk and found it. Somebody had to push it and then jump on, which was probably my 4 year old brother. We were little so it was going slowly.
Some older boys saw us and said they’d give us a better ride. We said no thanks but they laughed and started pushing us really fast.
I flew off backwards, hit the ground and got all the air knocked out of me, and a big bump on my head…. I could barely walk us home.
Bullies ruin everything. I remember using merry-go-rounds like the one Nighthawks posted; but only with friends I trusted and my siblings. When there were bunches of other kids at it I went elsewhere. Swings were my favorite anyway.
In Great Adventure, NJ, there was a ride called ROTOR. You stand up and lean against the sides as it spins and rotates. Riders are held in place by the centrifugal force. After we got off the ride we noticed vomit in many places on the ground outside. No one, luckily, let loose during _our_ ride. NEVER AGAIN.

My Japanese friend put on 30 pounds or so living in the US. She wasn’t fat, just not skinny.
When she went home to visit her parents, they hadn’t seen each other in years, but they constantly talked about her weight, and said she looked too American.
I said that was horrible but she said that’s what parents are supposed to do.

She said nobody said anything… she just looked back to normal so they didn’t praise or congratulate her.
That shale oil is nasty stuff. Most US refineries won’t touch it. The refining process produces excessive pollutants and can only economically create heavier products for making plastics or heavy fuels (not gasoline). to get to gasoline the cost of refining becomes prohibitive.
That’s the crap they wanted to send through the Keystone XL pipeline.
That’s Canadian economics all right! Rape the land for the resources and sell it all to the lowest [sic] bidder rather than doing anything constructive with it ourselves…
Those were GREAT movies. In one he was being chased while driving the most un-secret-agent-ish car of the time; a Mercury Colony Park station wagon. It was likely the largest car of it’s day and it’s what I took my driver test in. We named ours Queen Mary (after the ocean liner). Great car.
I dunno… Food and drink from Cleo is always kinda suspect.
It’s useful that she knows more about tools than your average dog.
I’ve not known many dogs that could differentiate a hose clamp and a… a… just about anything else.
But if she suddenly produced a mixed drink for me, I think I’d wanna know where that orange juice has been.

Pranks, dares, vandalism… Alcohol, drugs… The motivations are myriad.
They can’t make it inaccessible because of maintenance and repairs, so they try to lock it up.

There was a Tumbler(?) too at Oktoberfest where you had to hold on for sheer life and avoid loose footwear (mine included).

Whenever I tackle this sort of a puzzle, I break it into parts. I usually get the solution more quickly that way.
Instead of relying on recognizing the whole face… Or car or house or whatever it is…
I quickly look at the various parts… Maybe check all the teeth (or wheels, or windows or whiskers). Then the whole mouths. Then another part.
Probably only one part is different, and it’s easier to spot that, than trying to figure out whether a whole face is like the others.
I kinda do the same thing finding differences in Cleo puzzles, but with more steps… But they’re still usually quick.
The chair in the first panel, then the same chair in the second. Then Claude’s shirt. The potted plant, Cleo’s tail or ear or whatever.
I don’t expect them to jump out at me; I seek them one by one.
And yeah, I found it.
